Yelp has threatened to take away my "elite" status for the coming year unless I start reviewing again. As a grad student, I have no time for a life outside of school-but I do pass by Don Mills station almost everyday. So, here you go...
The pro's:
This station is a godsend for the many Asians who hang out east of the 404/north of Steeles. No longer stuck with everyone else at the other terminal station, Finch, you can now comfortably park your car at a covered lot that's free (!!) after 9:30am and on weekends. As D-Mills has many levels, you won't be walking 10min to one end of a sketchy lot (ahem, Finch) and find weird people knocking on your windshield at 10pm (true story).
Also nice: the connection to Fairview Malls means if you're stuck at Don Mills waiting for a ride, you can just head inside and do your errands/meet up with friends/etc. You can even have a family reunion with mom, bro, SIL, and everyone else coming up from work downtown. Many times, this was how I fell into Fairview's warm, capitalist embrace.
Bonus (?): there's always someone cleaning the ladies washroom. Always.
Cons: Prepare to get sardined, gasping for breath, with everyone else getting off at Sheppard-Yonge and transferring southbound on rush hour mornings. That's the start of many pulled emergency alarms to come. Why can't they design the stations so there's no bottleneck between the Sheppard and Yonge lines converging together? Because, then, everyone else from Finch would get on at Don Mills instead. And that would ruin this stations much more peaceful abode! See, the TTC *is* smart.
Also: the 10-minute ride of this "stub-way" does not give the wary commuter enough time to sleep, read, or type a yelp review. It can frustrate some. read more
