This was my very first time riding the subway solo after 5 months (I know, I'm a chicken) so I was a little apprehensive. I just followed the crowds double checking with the signs that I was going the right way. I made it from the bus to the subway train platform and while I was reading the map (my face must have shown my uneasiness and uncertainty) one of the staff approached me and asked if I needed assistance. He was very helpful and talked me through the entire procedure of switching subways and getting on to my final bus. I should have gotten his name so that I could share my experience with his supervisor but all I could think of was getting home without getting lost. So if you are the kindly gentleman with the warm smile who works at the Finch station who saved this damsel in distress, thank you. 3 stars for the station 5 stars for the staff Ave 4 stars

It feels luxurious because you can always find a seat. However, they're only available at 7:19am and 7:49am. This station is much busier than it used to be in the past. Parking is full by 7:30am. GO Transit has also introduced reserved parking spots for close to $100/mo. There are still plenty of free parking spots available, but GO will keep adding reserved spots as more people request them. The number of free parking spots will only diminish. Illegal parking in the parking lot is not worth it, as I hear that tickets are close to the same price as a reserved parking spot. Parking in residential areas is also not recommended due to bylaws. From what I hear from a co-worker who takes the train from Maple station, the Maple parking lot is almost all reserved parking. The station has free wifi now. They always show CP24 news on the TV, which is a great distraction while waiting for the train to arrive. I also enjoy the humor of the customer service reps on the train. "Tracks are for trains. If you're not a train, you shouldn't be on the track." "Thank you for choo-choo-choosing GO."

But, the train is reliable and there is only one stop from here to Union Station. It's also clean and has nice seats. During non-peak hours, it changes to coach bus service. Takes ~45 minutes to here from Union compared to ~30 minutes by train. You can buy your tickets here from a teller during peak times or anytime from the machine.

Downsview Park Station is one of the newest stations along Line 1 on the TTC. The name is confusing…read morebecause the previous Downsview Station was renamed Sheppard West. One of the unique features about this station is that it's connected to GO Transit, which is faster and more convenient. In some instances, it can be cheaper as well. For instance, to get from Downsview Park GO to Rutherford GO, it costs $0.27 and takes less than 10 minutes. A comparable trip on the TTC (to Vaughan Metropolitan Centre) would cost $3.00 and takes about 15 minutes. I find myself here frequently because it's walking distance to Scotiabank Pond and the sports facilities in that area. It makes for a convenient detour along my daily commute. The station is very clean and bright. However, because it's a bit out of the way, there's usually no one else here. One of the downsides to taking the GO train is that there are very few seats for anyone waiting for the train. Wifi is free.

It was confusing getting picked up since I exited the station at one end while my ride was waiting at the other. I had to go down the stairs, across the station and up the stairs on the other side. The second time I was at this station was because there was an incident on the Barrie line of the GO and everyone on the morning train was required to disembark and take the subway the rest of the way. Even though there was a great deal of people all getting off the train and going into the station at the same time there weren't any issues since the station is so huge and able to accommodate all the passengers.
