Updated details based on owner's response…read more Stay away.  We hired 1 Day Bath on March 2nd and they promised they would complete our kitchen renovation by May 1st (my wife was 30 weeks pregnant at the time). We made all payments in a prompt manner. We found out later they use fake positive reviews and stock photos on their website (and probably here too, see news article at the end).   At the project's beginning, work went quickly in clearing out the old kitchen.  Because of this, we also hired 1 Day  Bath to renovate our fireplace and do minor bathroom work.  They assured us the additional work would not interfere with the kitchen project (different work crews they said) and everything would still be completed by May 1st.  It turns out 'work crews' meant one person and we never had more than one worker show up on the same day. After kitchen demolition, the project moved along at a snail's pace.  Our project manager rarely showed up and did not communicate the progress of our project to us or others in the company.  One month in he left the company and no one replaced him thus leaving our project without a supervisor.  I would frequently text/call Don (owner) about the disappointment in the project progress.  He would make meaningless apologies/excuses.  The pace never picked up and he never once visited on site even when the project was left without any supervision. From March 15th to May 2nd, we had absolutely no kitchen and no working being done. It was a huge room of just concrete, with a big trench in the middle of the kitchen floor (not safe for anyone, let alone for a family with pets and a 35+ week pregnant woman).  Why would they remove our old kitchen if the new kitchen wasn't going to be installed for several months?  Our refrigerator was in the garage and we cooked on a portable stove.  We still didn't have a functional kitchen by the time our baby was delivered on May 17th.   From June to August a worker would show up sporadically for still unfinished items such as installing the backsplash, painting, cabinet handle fixtures, etc. In early August most of the work was finally 'complete' (three months past promised completion date). We requested the standard final walkthrough before final payment as agreed in the contract (per contract, 25% of the payment is pending on final walkthrough). On August 7th, a newly hired site supervisor came out and agreed that some work was not up to par and more work needed to be done.  However, he said he must collect the final check or they would sue us.  He wrote an email with a to-do list, promising to return within three weeks to finish/fix everything.  He wouldn't leave until he had the check. Concerned about our family safety, we reluctantly handed over the final check (yep I know, that was not smart and I should have called the police). The email stated (which Don was included on) the site supervisor promised to return within three weeks, which would be Saturday, Aug 28th.  On the 28th (talk about cutting it close) at 11:30 he called and said he needed to reschedule to Sunday "due to unforeseeable circumstances".  On Sunday he never showed and stopped responding to my text messages and calls.  At this point I naturally assumed our business together was done and when I wrote the initial review and started planning for small claims court. Weeks later Don texted having no idea about the timeline above and asked about 'fixing all the things that were installed wrong' (does no one communicate with each other in this company?). Any 'fix' to the flooring would be a band aid. It was not installed properly and needs to be completely redone (the estimates I received from professional flooring companies thought I installed it). This is something Don refuses to acknowledge. Don's response is simply not true on all accounts. At no point was anyone anything but polite to the workers. The allegations against my wife's parents (this is insulting) are completely false and there is no recording. The actual workers really liked us and we keep in touch for odd jobs. I have no issue with them, wasn't their fault. We received a 1% discount (wow, thanks!) for the items that were not completed on the contract. I guess for paying $91,000 I was expecting a lot more: such as staying on the promised time schedule due to a newborn coming home, not not having a kitchen for three months with not work being done, having a project manager, communication on project status/timeline, and high quality work. The company has a past. Mick's team tore our all existing cabinets, backsplash, floor tile and took down a pony wall and column (non load bearing). He also identified and repaired extensive termite damage around our window. His team laid wall to wall floor tile in herringbone pattern, installed backsplash and feature walls, installed recessed lighting and a chandelier, installed all appliances and plumbed the sink, as well as removed popcorn ceiling, retextured and and painted ceiling and walls throughout kitchen and living room.

Unfortunately, it ended up being a bigger issue but Thomas's crew came out, identified the underlying cause and got everything fixed. They worked hard to fix the issue quickly and without much disruption to our daily life. Thomas was upfront with us on the work and the cost.

The job took entirely too long and once the tile was finally installed, it wasn't level and the corners didn't match up, so it all had to be ripped out and reinstalled. Very frustrating experience. Tried to get John to come over to fix some warranty work.... Grout issues and the tiler broke a door stop. He said he would call me tomorrow. After a few more days I called him again to which he said he would call me later. Later never came. Getting ready to do a huge tile job up and down stairs. Will go elsewhere.

I'll note that I have owned several homes and have hired contractors for various projects throughout the years. This is to say that I have a pretty good sense for good and bad. So here you go... I cannot say that my experience with MYWH Construction ranks very high. Bottom line is that we did not get the end product that we desired and we certainly paid premium for this service. The issue is that there were a lot of conversations between me and the owner so it comes down to who's word you believe more as to what was expected versus what was delivered. But I know this. In all businesses that require customer loyalty, the customer is always right. As we got towards the end of the various projects, I started to question what I thought was missing. Then the communication broke down completely and he (and his crew) stopped communicating. My wife would call and text to see if they were going to show up and the never gave the courtesy of a response. I regret my choice in choosing MYWH Construction. They had come highly recommended by my real estate agent - with whom I hold in high regard. I would advise folks who are considering this type of work to interview several before deciding (which is my typical process). In fact, in the early stages of the project, I got estimates for additional work and MYWH came in 2x the price. The other contractor did great work. Second piece of advice would be to choose a contractor near your residence. This shop was 45 min to an hour away which is probably one of the reasons why they were untimely. It is a shame too because fixing a few small things would have made a big difference. He gave us an estimate in October for a remodel of our kitchen and master bath, as well as for upgrades throughout the house, which we needed before we put it on the market. We knew we wouldn't be ready to start work until the end of December, but he and his workers worked around our schedule. Joseph even went with me to pick out tile, and helped by suggesting the most up-to-date and popular "looks." The "demo" started in January and, as expected, things got changed and added as we started getting everything installed. Joseph was extraordinarily responsive to our needs and our desires, always offering explanations, alternatives, and suggestions whenever a problem or question arose. We ended up with a "new" master bathroom, new flooring almost throughout the house, a whole new look to the kitchen, and so much more! The whole house was painted (including the 2-story-high ceilings in the family and office spaces), the deck and pergola were stained, our new front door was made and installed to our specs, new main area ceiling fans and lighting, and new hardware and fixtures throughout the house. All pre-inspection repairs were made, and any time there was an issue outside his expertise or ability, Joseph was able to recommend one or more companies to handle the problem (e.g. getting the pool or windows cleaned). Joseph and all his "guys" (Reuben, David, Alex, Sarah, and others) were friendly and professional. They always listened and worked with us to ensure our expectations were met or exceeded. Joseph supervised every aspect, even when working on several jobs at once, and was super responsive, answering calls and texts at any hour. (I know he personally stayed until 2 am, helping finish some work prior to an open house!) I recommend D&J Solutions HIGHLY. They will work with you to make sure you are happy!!

He lied to my insurance company to get more money from them. He charged us $300,000 for work he did not do and threatened to put a lean on our house in the middle of us selling it if we didn't meet his demand. This man preached to us non stop while stabbing us every chance he got. I will be taking this company to court to get it settled. Very very displeased with their integrity and unprofessional behavior.
