And whoa, ammo prices are great ! I got what I needed and ambled out to my car thinking how nice it is not to be treated like a potential criminal, like I am in CA. In CA to purchase ammo, you need to show ID, prove you have previously purchased a firearm, pay $1 fee, be subject to verification via computer and often, a lengthy wait for approval. This prevents crime? Of course not. Sportsman's Warehouse in St. George is a great place, thanks for a glimpse of rationality. And great ammo prices !

The two ladies at the front greeted me. When I walked into the apparel section I met a very cool guy named Darrell. Darrell is very knowledgeable about a lot of things. He is really big on merchandising and logistics. Once you get him talking about fishing though, you'd better pack a lunch. Ha! So lucky to have people like this that work in the service industry. Darrell explained so much about the store. He explained where I could find various items, the history of some taxidermic animals mounted on the walls, and other locations of Sportsman's warehouse is located throughout the country. That's A+ customer service. I would go back just to solicit Darrells expertise on outdoor gear and deals.

For the first time, I was able to see or hold real firearms which are allowed in CA only in picture form. Being a resident of CA, I am not allowed to buy them, but at least I can look at them. Ammo prices are fabulous here. I bought what I needed and walked out of the store, thinking "What's wrong with this picture?" It was that I wasn't treated like a potential criminal, as in CA. No ID required, no $1 fee, no computer check, no waiting for the results. Just buy the ammo like a normal law-abiding citizen. One of the friendly gun department staff members compared notes with me about gunsmiths, and we realized that we both favored Bolsa Gunsmithing in Westminster, CA. That was surprising. This store is very well inventoried in just about every category other than firearms and ammunition. Lee and his crew created and maintain a great, roomy space with cool decor. I have never been pushed, ignored, upsold, or misdirected. Walk-up access to a gunsmith with Lee's experience is a huge benefit all by itself. I've bought elsewhere locally but not since Rich's opened. I found out later they had five shooters on the lane next to me when Rowdy's own rules say it's four max. They also had others just watching sucking up valuable space in the tiny range. When I said something to an employee, he just wanted to swipe my card and get me moving out the door.
