My frames broke after 14 months of wear. I took them back and because they couldn't repair them and didn't have another pair they popped my lenses out and put them in a "loner" pair so I could see until the next pair came in. I assumed that replacement would be their responsibility because all of the other frames I've worn in the past (from other businesses and brands) lasted four to five years holding up to lens changes etc. I received a message that my replacement frames were in. When I returned to pick them up the woman looked at me and with a condescending voice said "those lenses won't fit your frame." What was I supposed to say to that? They ordered them? Upon inspection we discovered that they ordered the wrong replacement frames. SMH. The condescending woman didn't apologize for being rude, for ordering the wrong pair or inconveniencing me. When I went in to pick them up the second time, they charged me for shipping them. It seemed high for 1 small box; $25, but I felt that I shouldn't have to pay for anything seeing it was a faulty product. But they explained the 12 month warranty was over. First time they mentioned that btw. I paid the 25$ but explained other frames I owned held up and I felt it was a faulty product. Emphasizing that I was just making a point that they ought to consider other manufacturers. I've worn Prada and Oliver Peeples with no issues. The lady shared she would have someone call me. As I was walking out the same condescending person said to the other employee, not once but twice and loud enough for me to hear, "we will need to fill out a form to cover these (the loner pair) at a loss." Duh. I hope you wouldn't try and resell the loner pair frames that I was wearing. But you don't say it out loud in front of the customer like it's their fault. Sheesh. When the person did call me, as they were chewing a mouthful of food, asked if I had a question. I responded I didn't have any questions, that I assumed she was calling me to rectify the problem. Nope. "They stand behind their product" and "they could have charged me for the replacement frames due to the warranty being over" and insinuated that I should be thankful they were only charging for shipping." $25 dollars to ship a pair of glasses. Making me wonder if I paid for the first and second shipping cost. I really didn't have any complaint with the optometrist. She seems knowledgeable and thorough which is why I gave Berris Optical 2 stars rather than 1. However, I believe she is responsible for the staff. Either way, I will not be returning and would not recommend this business. read more

This was the worst experience I've ever had. Even Costco takes more care in customers than this place does. They try to upsell you on literally everything rather than taking your needs into consideration. My insurance covers a basic exam but when I went in I was charged over $50 for the exam and when I asked why they told me because they automatically added on an extra service -- this should have been disclosed prior to the start of the exam. When I express this they acted like I was the crazy one. I had some issues with the lenses once I received my glasses and went in to try to resolve the issue which was entirely their fault, but it took them an arm and a leg to admit that. And even after recognizing it was their fault, they were so hesitant and trying to actually fix the problem, so I gave up. They had improperly marked the optical center on both lenses, which intern made everything blurry -- at first they tried to say it wasn't their fault, but that I so used to wearing glasses that were incorrectly made for my vision that I couldn't recognize what proper vision felt like. I really wanted to support local, which is why I went here in the first place, but I'm really turned off at how inconsiderate and out of touch the staff are. I would avoid at all costs. read more

I wrote this review in July and just realized I didn't post it... I have been wearing glasses for over 40 years, and the frames my family got from Berris optical in November 2020 have caused more trouble than I've had from all other frames combined. Within a month, one of my son's pairs had a lens fall out and get lost and the pair other had a temple break off. They claimed this was unusual, and they waived the deductibles when they replaced both pairs of frames and the lens that was lost. By the end of July 2021, the nose pads on one of the pairs had broken. I was told that we'd used our warranty replacement, so they could not replace the frames. They did fix the nosepads, but it left a bad taste in my mouth that the warranty was not in effect because of the defective glasses they sold me in November. Meanwhile, my glasses did not hold up well--they became so loose that they are essentially balanced on my face, and they frequently fall off. My family went to Berris Optical because Union Eye Care, where we'd gotten our glasses for 20-plus years, went out of business. This fall, we found a new place to get our glasses. read more

I needed an eye exam for contacts and after calling multiple places Berris Optical was able to honor an appointment on short notice. My regular doctor was booked a few months out so I was happy to get an appointment so fast here. Friendly staff and Dr. Fleming is very nice. Will definitely be back. read more

The service was terrible. The sample contact lenses took over a month. Then after actually ordering the contacts, it was another month. No excuses for such lousy service. To top it off, who knows when they actually arrived because they never bothered to call. Save yourself some trouble and shop elsewhere. No complaints about the eye exam. read more

I have had eyes my entire life. When I was looking for a new optometrist, I wanted something close, quick, and convenient. However, I am very, VERY much of an eye-wuss. I don't like the exams, I don't like touching my eyeball, and I don't like inconveniencing people or making their jobs more difficult. I was able to get in with Dr. Fleming. You really could not find a more cool, kind, patient, and wonderful optometrist. She put up with my complaining with good humor, and is just an overall rockstar when it comes to helping her patients. My eyes are kind of weird, so she took the time to try different things when fitting me with contacts. Follow up appointments were timely and easy to get. Went way above and beyond to make sure I was happy with the outcome. Wish all of the optometrists I've had in the past were this good. Thankfully, I've found Dr. Fleming and there's no need to go anywhere else now. read more

Went in with high expectations after referral from a co-worker and was not that impressed. Doctor Fleming got very impatient and short during exam and snapped at me when I was waffling about difference in ability to see chart. I've been wearing glasses for over 40 years and never had an optometrist snap at me in that way. read more

Wow, really surprised to hear that Dr. Fleming snapped at a patient. My husband, 2 daughters and I have been going to Berris Optical for several years and have always experienced courteous, professional and very helpful service from the whole staff, including Dr. Fleming. The opticians are very helpful in selecting frames and don't rush you. They provide very clear explanations of the cost of the various lens options as well as a written breakdown of what is covered by insurance, and what our final cost will be. They worked diligently with VSP when there was a snafu with my COBRA coverage from a previous employer. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking for a professional eye care provider in the area. read more

I was very happy with my examination. Dr. Fleming was very through and spent a good amount of time with me. Unfortunately, the store does not have a lot of small frames. So other than that, I would recommend Berris for sure. read more
