I have an 8-week beginner class for kids, all supplies are included. I can teach up to 3 students at a time, that is all I have room for. Each class is 2 hours and $40. Kids learn how to use the sewing machine, we have Singer Confidence models, they make a pillow, apron, tote with 2 pockets, and a pair of elastic-waist pants. After the 8-week beginner class, the kids can make a dress and learn new sewing skills. For adults, they start with 4 classes and make a pair of elastic-waist pants, then move on to making a dress. Students can keep sewing as long as they are able, some have been coming here for 5 years. We have fashion shows, free learning events, and we are in the Memorial Day Parade. Learn to sew, it's an empowering life time skill. It's lots of fun, too. It has meditative qualities.

I was a bit skeptical at first since I was expecting Andrew to teach the course, but Juan did an excellent job at giving tips to conceptualize topics. Further, Juan is a good speaker with years of knowledge working in the industry, so he will answer any questions you may have with ease. They will provide you with slides that are great for reviewing before the exam. The best thing about this course is that they will focus on topics that have higher priority and will advise on which sections to spend more of your time on. From my experience, I would recommend reading the book prior to taking the exam and taking this bootcamp course as a refresher. You should not rely solely on the bootcamp to pass the course as the CISSP has a lot of info that may require more time to study. Note, I spent 3 months of regularly studying and crammed 60+ hours the week before the exam.

The summer of learning cutting-edge web/mobile dev, networking with amazing companies and fellow Horizonites, and bonding in a community of amazing students with like-minded interests (who have also gone on to intern at the best tech companies because of Horizons) gave me a solid leg-up in my tech career. Because of the amazing things you build (replicas of Facebook, Yelp, Trello, are just among a few of the projects you build each week) and the extremely talented and brilliant instructors, you'll come out of this school feeling like you learned more in 2 months than you've ever learned in college. Seriously, once I started recruiting for a software engineering internship, I realized that because of Horizons, I not only was getting way more interest from companies than my peers, but also I was much more prepared for the technical interviews. It was in large part because of what I learned and built at Horizons that I have now gone on as a software engineering summer intern at a Fortune 500 company and have also transferred from my liberal arts college to Northwestern's engineering school for CS. Mainly, the network you build for both life and entrepreneurial ventures is invaluable. I have met lifelong friends and potential startup co-founders and out in the tech world at recruiting events, I have realized that Horizons alumni look out for one another and are proud of their shared experience at Horizons. Also, the co-founders Abhi and Darwish are some of the kindest and most caring people I have ever met. Abhi has mentored me continuously (whenever I reach out to him, he always finds time to talk with me), and I have even asked him to my school to give a talk because he has so much to offer in terms of solid career advice. Abhi and Darwish are very good people who work very hard (they're always the last to leave the building because they're so dedicated to Horizons), and how they manage to maintain mentoring Horizonites while simulatenously keeping Horizons so efficient and productive is beyond me. This has truly been a cornerstone experience of my life and education, and I can't recommend Horizons highly enough to anyone who is interested in entrepreneuship, learning web/mobile dev, or just want to stand out and get a leg up on technical internships/jobs. But going through such an intense three months gave me great personal and career development. One thing that's special about doing a bootcamp is that as a business student, you can come out the program knowing the same, if not more, about software development as a CS major does. The breadth of material taught me to think about things as specific as a complex sorting algorithm to as broad as architecting a full stack application. And the best part is that the technical skills I learned were just a starting point. I can't believe how far I've come in the year since I did Horizons in my personal and work projects. Besides the obvious programming knowledge that comes with a bootcamp, I think the thing that sticks out the most about Horizons is that their people genuinely care about each student. When I looked at a problem with little hope of solving it, the TAs patiently encouraged me to think about it dynamically until I reached a solution. Knowing the cohort wanted to learn about more than building, the team networked hard to get us speakers that spoke openly with us about their careers and experiences. Months after the program ended, I received support and advice from the founders themselves during recruiting season. Horizons has been the true foot in the tech door I always wanted and badly needed. Go for it, hate it, love it, and be so glad you did it.

I enrolled in their online introduction to lymphatic therapy course, pay the course fee, and completed the course. Liz Rivas, the program director sent me an email message to complete course evaluation in order to get my certificate of completion. I did what she asked for and guess what, she is MIA. I tried to be very understanding that we are all very busy with our life, so I waited. A week after, I send her another message to follow up, still NO response. It's been three weeks now and still no certificate. I am not a pushy person. If the school will not provide the certificate, that is absolutely fine, but do not advertise in your website that certificate will be given after completion of the course OR do not send me message that a certificate will be provided after completing the course evaluation. The only thing that I'm grateful for is that I only spend $250 for this online course and not the thousands of dollars. I will absolutely go with ACOLS or Klose training next time.

I initiated contact three weeks before my scheduled training as a serious family emergency came up and I requested a refund for the tuition I had paid. This was October of 2021. Then until now, have been a lot of follow up email attempts to no avail, phone attempts where it is difficult to get ahold of anyone, with both Norton and one particular employee probably assigned these responsibilities. I paid for my remaining tuition as soon as I was notified I was awarded a partial scholarship. This was a big mistake, as once you do, they send over "material" (a ten page document and the pdf version of a textbook) via email. Thus, because I was emailed these "materials", (and not the actual physical version since they were not in stock apparently) 650 dollars was non refundable, in addition to the standard 250 non refundable fee. Of the 1600 I paid, I'm STILL waiting to get the 950 back. Should I reconsider taking my certification down the line, it will DEFINITELY not be with them. They "offered" full value of what I paid should I decide to attend a future training, but I absolutely refuse and at this point, accept that loss of 650 so I can just move on (if they ever refund my money).
