Example: the fence needed to be low enough to see over as I back out of my driveway, for safety reasons. Alejandro held a tape measure at various heights and various points as I backed out. It seemed obvious to him that this was the right thing to do, but no other contractor I met with did this. 3. Construction was done in a single day (7 hours). 4. Sometimes I work with contracting firms where an attentive sales person asks about your project, and then a separate team (plus an annoying game of telephone) comes to actually work on the project. Not with Maldonado! At least for now Alejandro is not only figuring out the design with you but actually building the fence 5. I called and also submitted a request through their website, and someone quickly followed up to schedule an estimate. Stephen arrived right on time -- actually a little earlier than the scheduled window -- and the quoting process was straightforward. I received the estimate later that same day, and their pricing was very fair and significantly better than several other quotes I had received. I approved everything online, and shortly afterward they called to schedule the work within the next couple of weeks. What impressed me just as much as the pricing was their communication and attention to detail. We had literally finished painting the exterior of our house only 4 days before the fence work, so I reached out ahead of time and asked them to take extra care around the freshly painted stucco. They responded immediately, noted it on the job, and when the crew arrived, they already knew about my concern. That kind of communication between the office and field crew gave me a lot of confidence! The crew replaced 3 gates, repaired the top of another gate, and repaired a section of fencing, all in about 4 hours. The difference is incredible. The new gates feel heavy, sturdy, and very well built, and the hinges and latches are a huge upgrade from what we had before. One detail especially impressed me: they even adjusted the bottom of our front gate -- something that wasn't part of the original scope -- to give it better clearance from the ground. Now the gate opens much wider and makes it so much easier for us to move our recycling bins in and out. It was a small detail, but exactly the kind of thing that shows they weren't just checking boxes on a work order. They paid attention to how we actually use the gate and made it better. And yes -- my freshly painted wall came through completely intact. No scratches, chips, or damage whatsoever. From the initial estimate to scheduling, communication, workmanship, and those thoughtful finishing touches, I had a great experience with Marsh Fence & Deck. Ignacio, who came for the site visit and identified himself as the owner, was very easy to communicate with both in person and over the phone. However, Jackie, (not clear to me if she's the co-owner or Ignacio's wife) finalizes pricing and pretty much runs the show. For our project, we had picked IVS to do the work, but the price kept increasing by thousands of dollars. I asked to speak with Ignacio since these changes were inconsistent with what I discussed with him and put them week above our other quotes, but Jackie said that's not necessary since she decides the pricing. They also charge tax on materials, which no other fencers do (since they're already paying tax to Home Depot, etc.). These business practices felt disingenuous to me and like bait and switch. I've had issues in the past with businesses like this that once the work begins they'll change order you again and ask for more money. So we did not use them. For this fence, we received multiple quotes. Two companies were in the $9-10K range and IVS was around $12K. All were licensed and bonded. We went with the lowest quote and are extremely happy with our fence.

Made and installed my front gate to open out instead of in. When I pointed it out they insisted…read morethat is how the old gate was, I sent them a picture of the old gate opening in. They did not fix it. They also made hand rails for my stairs and that was another disaster. The railings had three code violations. I made the mistake of paying them the same day, I should have had my contractor review their work before i paid them. To top it all off the paint on my gate is corroded after three months. I ended up hiring a different iron company to make me new hand rails. Terrible quality, low price, I will never use them again.
