Brian Ott is amazing at what he does. He has been very busy during the pandemic, but it was absolutely worth the wait to book his incredible team, and I only wish we had done this years ago. Our backyard went from a depressing, weed-filled brickscape (see pictures) to a beautiful, inviting haven where we spend as much time as possible. The photos hardly do it justice. It was worth every penny spent!

view of dry creek bed and fountain from zen garden

We agree with all the other 5-star reviews. We were extremely fortunate to have hired Brian to create a zen garden in our small, sloped San Francisco backyard. He transformed our weedy areas into a "dry creek bed" that leads to a fountain with a zen garden below. The fountain is a self-contained water feature that we have on a timer. The hummers absolutely love it. He also built the steps and put a removable deck in one of our pre-existing garden boxes, so we can choose whether to garden or use it for carona-safe visits. They also put in a drip system that is helping us keep the new landscaping alive. We really enjoyed having them here and had no issues regarding timeline nor expenses. There were no surprises.

Brian and his worker David were awesome! They totally worked around our schedule. This was our third attempt at doing something with the backyard. We could have saved a lot of money and time if he had just found him first! We wanted - Asian, a unique water feature, low maintenance, color We got - EVERYTHING! Including a drip emmiter system with hardwired accent lighting.

Brian was an absolute pleasure to work with, as was his assistant Noe. Brian usually has an organic design process from start to finish. We came to him with our own sketch and ideas, and multiple design constraints. He was very gracious, adapted and incorporated our ideas, and added in other features and details we were struggling with or hadn't thought about. We ended up with what we felt was a wonderful collaboration. He was always available to give his aesthetic input but was never pushy and was always open to what we wanted. It was clear that his first priority was to give us a space we enjoyed and that met our needs. He softened our design and added some very Zen elements that have elevated our space to be not only very functional but also relaxing/rejuvenating at the same time. Halfway through the process, when parts of the yard were done and parts were still piled with construction materials, we were already getting more enjoyment out of it than we had from the yard before we started, and our neighbors were already jealous-- if that tells you anything about the quality of the work. It is a joy to spend time and host friends in our new space. We have a yard now with elements that are great for us-- decomposed granite patio with pavers, deck space, water feature fountain, heated bench and fire pit, screening bamboo, raised bed planters for edible gardening, irrigation, mossy boulders, and a variety of beautiful plants that will be the (fairly low) level of maintenance we wanted. We almost skipped having him install lighting and we are so glad we didn't-- it exponentially increases our enjoyment of the space at night and adds a wonderful glow for dining or relaxing by the fire pit. The space is as inviting at night as it is during the day. Functionally we have added an entire room, if not two, to our property. He was communicative and responsive from start to finish. There were no real cost surprises-- one or two small things that needed to be added to the proposal after work was started (for example when it was discovered that we have gophers), but we were made aware up front of what some of the likely additions would be based on what they found when they started work, and those were discussed with us as they came up and OKed by us before Brian moved forward. In addition to the wonderful landscaping work, Brian is just a lovely person to work with. He is calm and personable, we have become friends through the process and he even introduced me to some new teas during our design brainstorming sessions. We had no reservations giving him access to our house while we were at work. We'll miss working with him, and can't recommend Zenscape highly enough!

I would highly recommend them to do any landscaping work you may have. Their front office, supervisors and project staff are completely customer oriented. Shout out to Rachel, Daniel, Dorian, Francisco and Eli. I found them on Yelp and their profile and reviews gave us the perception of a high quality and professional landscape company. as such I felt their pricing may be a bit high. I used Yelp to contact and communicate with them initially. Rachel impressively returned my request for information the same day. I also reached out to 2 other companies at the same time. My initial request was for weed clearing and contouring the front yard. They in fact quoted the highest price for this work. I then asked the three firms to quote the entire front yard landscaping project and this is where Go Green Landscape won me over. I had a plan sketch drawing of the yard with dimensions and notes of what we were looking for. Daniel came out to review this with me. He was patience and knowledgeable to the point where I felt comfortable working with Go Green. (I suggest you have some plans prepared so they can quote properly.) I gave them materials and finishes we desired and wanted to match some existing work we had done. Their quote came back detailed and precise. Everything was documented and clear. Granted we went back and forth a few times to make sure all items, details and costs were accounted for but Rachel handled this like a champ. Dorian, Francisco, Eli and the Team came out to start work. Let me just say these guys know what they are doing. They cleared the front yard in the first day! Then area by area, section by section they worked with me to bring our front yard concept to life. We opted for a super low maintenance design. Retaining wall blocks, pavers, crushed rock, artificial turf and river rock. The quality of care and professional work they provided will impress you. They went back and forth to dump site to drop off waste and to vendors to pick up materials as needed. They shifted workers from job to job as the work progressed. Seems like a well oiled machine with good organization. All in all the work was done timely and we are very happy with the final product. Give them a call!! Check out our before and after images

Tsering took our small, weirdly shaped, overgrown backyard and transformed it into a functional piece of art--all in only four weeks! We are so happy that our son will be able to enjoy it for years to come. Tsering is not just a contractor, but an artist and a craftsman. He does everything from start to finish. He provides a glimmer of his vision early on, in a simple one-page design. Once he starts working, he refines that vision and brings it to life with his amazing team. At the end of each day, we were shocked at how much they got done and at the quality of the craftsmanship. Tsering takes incredible pride in his work. After designing and building a beautiful fence for us, he geeked out over some of special hardware he installed to make it extra secure (and we otherwise would not have noticed). Moments like that came up during each phase of the project. Tsering also used the best materials, even when left to his discretion. He purchased more Ipe wood, poured more concrete, and even bought a bigger maple tree than in the estimate. (He did not charge us extra.) During the course of our project, Tsering also found many ways to improve our backyard (and home) that went beyond the scope of the project. He re-stucco'd an old balcony, re-did the weatherproofing of an old door, sawed through several busted lockboxes, and added an extra little Ipe wall. Because he was ahead of schedule on the project, he didn't charge us for any of it (not even materials). We've attached a few before and after photos, but they honestly barely do justice to his work. Tsering is one of a kind. If you want a backyard that looks like his portfolio, you should hire him. We are hoping that one day we'll be able to get on his calendar for our front yard as well.

From our first meeting, Tsering had a creative vision for the space, more nuanced than other contractors we met. We appreciate craftsmen like Tsering who bring a strong POV on the right way to do things, more than just building to a spec, and steer you away from bad decisions. Tsering personally supervised our project, and was onsite every day, often for significant periods of time. This is a very collaborative, hands-on, personalized approach from a small team, not a huge operation with many crews in the field. You feel like he treats your project like his own, with a high quality of work and attention to detail. It is a very cohesive design, site plan, materials, plants all working together beautifully. Tsering is great to work with - we appreciate his easy-going nature, patience, and sense of humor. Cannot recommend more highly.

I first met Humberto when I opened a Yelp project ticket in January. He was not only quick to respond, (he came over within an hour, on a Sunday), he also was transparent in his pricing and had great suggestions. I could tell he knew a lot about gardening. Humberto and Alejandro came in January for the first visit, and as was right for the season, they pruned all of the bushes, weeded the mulch and stone areas, and mowed the lawn. I liked them so much that first visit we made a plan for the next visit in the spring, which happened today! Humberto brought just the stone I wanted (he knew it by name when he saw it the first time), to refresh the old stone and also brought the mulch that we had talked about- both in the perfect quantity. Today they also mowed and fertilized the grass (the right time of year for that now), cleaned up all of my pots, put new plants in huge heavy ceramic pots, replanted some outlier succulents from the stone area, and did a thoughtful cleanup all around. He advised me about "sunny plants" and "shady plants" too, which was very useful. The yard is beaming with Springtime! Humberto is busy for a good reason, so plan for that, but a shiny well thought out garden is a joy.

We gave him a general idea of what we were looking for. He came back with a rough sketch of what we were looking for, and an estimate within our budget that included hardscaping *and* landscaping, along with irrigation and a contingency budget. (Lots of contractors we spoke to did landscaping or hardscaping, but not both; and none came with design ideas.) As demolition was ending, Monica came back with more specific designs, including for our deck and specific pollinator-friendly and low-water plants. The design discussion was collaborative and she took into account that the yard would be used by dogs and kids (thus plants needed to withstand less-than-mindful foot traffic). The crew were always on time and left the site (and our garage) cleaner than they found it. Thank you to Rob, Monica, Ryan, Mick, Oscar, and Keith for a fabulous job! As you'll see from before pics, the concrete deck was uneven, small, and the yard was a weedy sand pit. Now it's an amazing entertainment space where the kids can play safely, bees and hummingbirds can catch a meal, and then rest of us can hang out and enjoy!
