No explanation why her rental wasn't ready. The office was not ready to give anyone keys. She recalled there was about 20 families waiting for their keys. The receptionist could not give any answers. If the house isnt ready and needs to be inspected. . Just say it. We stayed with them for a few days. The beds were comfy. A few things needed to be dusted. Like there fan they had in one of the bedrooms. It was disgusting. Overall the house was comfortable and great for our stay. My boyfriends sister just wasn't happy with the keys situation.

This place allowed me to stay only one night, and was about $150 for one night, which is actually standard for a B&B. It was my first time ever staying in a Bed and Breakfast, and it won't be my last if all of them are like this one! I pulled up on a Saturday, and was about 30 minutes early before check-in. It was scorching outside at the time as it was in early August, and Lynn came out and asked if I was okay. I told her I was waiting for 2 pm, which was check in time, and she allowed me to come on in as the room was already, ready! Her maiden name was my last name was we hit it off immediately and joked that we might be related. She was very professional, and answered any question that I may have had regarding my stay. She showed me to my room, and even offered me warm baked chocolate chip cookies, as well as sodas and juice in he refrigerator which was open to guests. Lynn asked me did I need any help about activities to do on the Outer Banks, but I told her I would just be going to the wedding, and heading out in the morning. She made sure to leave the porch light for me as she knew I would be coming home late from the wedding! The room was very clean, it had all the towels, wash clothes, and any accessories that one would need when staying there. The TV was a bubble screen, and was really outdated, but I barely watched any television for me so that was a non-issue for me. The bed was very comfortable, and the house was very quiet as well, which allowed me to get some great sleep before the wedding, and later that night when I cam back. The next morning as I packed up, Lynn, and her husband, had cooked breakfast for me that included muffins, eggs, bacon, and grits which were delicious with the orange juice I had as well! We talked it up a bit, and they also gave me a brochure about the B&B in case I come back out that way. It was a wonderful experience, and I would definitely re-visit once I get back out to the far, far, east coast! Thanks again Lynn to you and your husband for your wonderful hospitality!

The bed was made beautifully. There was not one spot or pillow out of place! Highly anticipated: The Breakfast Our amazing host cooked a fabulous breakfast. Everything was was and fresh! She made pancakes with blueberries and cut up fresh fruits for us to enjoy. The level of care we received at this bed & breakfast was above and beyond! Our amazing host (she felt like a nana) had sweet treats for us to enjoy! The first night we were there she prepared this exquisite turtle brownies! They were very soft and fluffy. The second night she prepared this beautiful coconut cake that was to die for! We had an issue with our toilet and they immediately went to go fix the issue! The service is out of this world! That particular year in school, the kids were learning about the lost colony. So I decided to take her to see the play in Manteo. During that time, weddings were taking place, so we ended up staying in Wanchese. Were we ended up also getting a dog that weekend. The kitchen was well equipped with everything anyone would need to cook. A nice new dishwasher and refrigerator. The four bedrooms upstairs were small but appropriate for the age of house and sleeps 8. The outside shower was the best and we ended up only using it because it kept us from trailing sand into the house and the pressure was so good, lots of hooks to hang suits and towels. A lot of outdoor seating too, rockers and a table with chairs and picnic table out back. Many things were well thought out about this beach home like the foot rinse at the bottom of the outside stairs. A lot of beach chairs and beach cart which made it very convenient. The only drawback and why I didn't rate a perfect score was there were roaches. I saw them on two different occasions, once one running across the living room floor and another we had pizza and we left the boxes on the stove and they were full of roaches when I opened the box, horrible! I know it's a beach house but this will keep us from ever coming back to this lovely, rustic home, a shame.

I wasn't expecting an upstairs bathroom and that was a plus, with the additional full bath downstairs and the outdoor shower there was never a crowd with four of us getting ready. The house has AC but we ended up leaving the windows open on both sides of the house and there was a great cross-breeze. Saw dolphins almost daily. There were freshly cut flowers in all the rooms, too. Lorraine is also a wonderful cook! When we were there she had lots of fresh fruit, cake, chocolate-covered strawberries, quiche, Keurig drinks, fruit drinks, and she even has a mini fridge filled with water and iced tea in the parlor. The afternoon cocktail hour was a special touch and a great way to relax after a day of exploring. A special feature is the deep-water dock, which allows you to pull your boat right up to the inn. There are also kayaks, paddle boards and bicycles for guests to enjoy. We rode bikes to the park and all around downtown. Inside, there are comfortable sitting areas perfect for relaxing, reading, or playing games. The Burrus House is peaceful, quiet, and exceptionally welcoming. It was very nicely appointed and had all of the creature comforts of home. Lots of wonderful views of the sound. The bedding is just like what we have! Lots to do on Manteo...dolphin watching, city center shopping, the aquarium, etc. Bicycles and canoes are available on site. The nice thing is you get the outer banks experience nearby without the usual crowds, amusement park attractions, and stores. Manteo is centrally located in the OBX which makes the Burrus House Inn an ideal place to stay. Great price for such a nice place...and best of all, no kids under the age of 16 allowed which makes for a nice romantic getaway!
