    Currywurst

Hmmmm very interesting as I have never had curry powder on a sausage/bratwurst before. The sauce ends up being like a curry ketchup. Service is quick because it's just heating up a sausage and bread. I think there are better options in Chelsea market to eat at.

Passed by in Chelsea market and it's definitely crowded and crazy. Was looking for something to eat and saw this place with no line. I like German food so decided to give it the try. The guy who took my order was nice. I got the pork sausage with sauerkraut and no onions with a side of potatoes to go. Food was delicious and filling. I ate it for two lunches. It's not too expensive either. Highly recommend it.

I wish I liked this place more because I love bratwursts but it just didn't hit the spot for me. It was my first time trying currywurst and it was an interesting and new flavor. I wished there were more of it. The bread was ok too but it did taste good dipping it in the sauce. The roasted potato's were not good at all, they were undercooked. If you're looking for something fast quick I'd go here but I think you can find a better place somewhere else

This spot is located inside the Chelsea Market. If you're looking for a delicious, quick, and inexpensive meal, then definitely come here. I ordered the Paprika sausage and classic curry wurst style. I also ordered their French fries. Unfortunately, they had run out of roasted potatoes. The meal came out to less than $20 total which is pretty reasonable. They had bar seating and a small table specifically reserved for people who ordered food from this spot. This helped a lot because there was limited seating everywhere. The food was also out pretty quickly. The food was amazing. The fries were cooked well and seasoned perfectly (not too salty). And the sausage paired with the sauce was delicious.

This was our night one pizza stop. I had a bratwurst, my wife had pizza, it was a fabulous first slice for our trip! Hear places were in the Chelsea MKT.

Loved the vegan curry wurst! The bread could be better though. Plus they have zero alcohol beer!

This is a great place for a bier and a brat in the Chelsey Market. Tasty brats. Cold beer. Reasonable prices.

I was excited to see that they had a vegetarian currywurst here! They have a few different sausage options including a tofu kielbasa. The tofu kielbasa was very good and the ketchup with (lots of) curry powder was a unique taste but worked great. The bread roll was fresh and soaked up the sauce well. It was nothing gourmet but it was definitely tasty. And inexpensive! The staff was nice and my order was ready quickly. There's some bar seating specifically for Berlin Currywurst and general market seating nearby. I was with a friend who didn't order anything from them but they didn't mind us sitting at their bar since it wasn't too busy.

What a great spot! My Austrian roots are singing. They have a variety of wursts made from beef, veal, pork and tofu grilled to order. I asked John to recommend what tastes best with sauerkraut and onions (I prefer that to the curry ketchup option) and he suggested the Nürnberger (veal and pork), which had a great snap. My purist pal had a beef wurst on a bun and he thought it was delicious. Excellent recs! And plenty of spice levels to please all palates. Condiments include mustard, ketchup or mayo. We also had a hot pretzel. I wish they had beer cheese, but it was still good with mustard. We washed it all down with Mexican Coke, but they also offer beer and wine. John and Brandon were knowledgeable, hardworking and welcoming. Seating is limited. I will definitely be back the next time I am near Chelsea Market.

Bratwurst and German beer. Need I say more? I love this place its a must have when in town.

Classic currywurst, with a selection of top flight sausages and German beers. There's even a vegan tofu kielbasa. German breakfast is served all day. They also do a mustard kraut. In Chelsea Market. If you're looking for legit currywurst without the trip to Berlin, you've arrived. Prices more than fair!

Finally got to try this place! Sometimes it's open, sometimes it's not. Honestly a hit or miss Workers are nice, food comes out quick. Menu is easy to read. No seating for their place but there is seating around Chelsea market and outside. Restroom is downstairs Got the pork and cheese brat on a bun with sauerkraut and mustard and a side of fries. It's was sooo good! You can really taste the cheese and it was a decent size meal! The bun was soft and good amount of sauerkraut and mustard. The fries were so addicting and good! If anything, get the fries!

Was really thankful of this place for being the only place that wasn't being swarmed when I got here and was able to get a seat. Definitely wanted to try the currywurst and it was okay! I just tasted like a wurst that was cooked and then topped with curry seasoning and powder honestly. The bread was eh. I liked the fries at this place though. If you're craving currywurst or have a craving for German stuff and you're in the area, you should try it out. I do not think you should travel so much just to come here though, it's not that worth it.

This was a place that we walked past about 875,000 times. And said "we should check it out…read moresometime." Sometime became today! And boy, were we in for a pleasant surprise, as we truly enjoyed ourselves. No one does beer hall like a German place. This is just facts. We had the Berliner Weisse, which comes in a .5L or 1L boot (does German beer count if it's not in a boot?). This was a delicious raspberry syrupy undertone wheat beer, and definitely a must have for next time. Though there were like a dozen other beers I need to have. They also have a pretty extensive wine selection, if that's your thing. We were there for a brunch. When we arrived, before 1pm, it wasn't busy at all. By the time we left, it was pretty full. The bar had seats though. Anyhoo, I tried their "energizer" which were eggs any style (poached for me), creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. Never had a breakfast like this one! It was almost like a deconstructed eggs Florentine. YUM. My husband had the Heidelberger which was a German style hamburger with frizzled onions and mashed potatoes. He let me try some, it was pretty fantastic so I may need to try it sometime myself. Also do not miss their ginormous Bavarian pretzel. It was quite possibly the best I've had (and I've had many!). The service was outstanding, and the vibe was ... I dunno a step above what you saw in Fast Times where they go to the German restaurant. My only regret is that I didn't get the apfelstrudel. Next time! Washrooms are single occupancy.

After visiting the German Consulate General, we were looking to celebrate new dual citizenship with authentic German cuisine. We came for midday lunch but ordered off the full menu rather than the lunch/brunch menu. My wife ordered the duck, I ordered the wienerschnitzel. The duck made my wife throw up two hours after ingesting it. My (albeit) medium-well schnitzel ordered came extra well-done, crispy both on the inside and out. The restaurant was dark and freezing. Workmen were bringing in wood materials from the back and the door was left open for the duration of the meal to accommodate the establishment and its workmen over the dining comfort of its patrons. We asked about the unendurable arctic environment and the genial young man seating us, serving us and also tripling as barman, returned to say there was nothing he could do. Well, there is something we will do. Never ever come back.

We passed the security area and then found the cafe immediately on the ground floor. The host greeted us kindly and showed us to our table. This cafe is just stunning-- the wooden furniture and walls, large windows facing the park, the dim lightning, all create a cozy but refined atmosphere. It gives off pristine Central European vibes. We were also lucky and they had a live pianist while we were eating which really elevated the ambiance further. Our waitress was very pleasant and available to help us with all our needs. She took our orders and answered all our questions. We ordered some mulled wines which were perfect for the cold weather, they were spiced and not sweetened at all which I liked. While we waited for our food, we also got some complimentary bread and butter. The bread had some seeds and a nice flavor to it. The butter was creamy and a little salty. The food came out very quickly! We tried: - Smoked trout crepes: perfect to split! This comes with 3 small crepes which were filled with generous smoked trout and came with a side of creme fraiche. The trout was smoky without being fishy and the cold crepes were the perfect light but bright starter. There were some tangy elements from the pickled cucumbers it came with and fresh cherry tomatoes. Very refreshing. The creme fraiche was very good and I used the leftover on the complimentary bread which was also amazing! - Chicken paprikas: my mom ordered this and really enjoyed it. The chicken was so tender it fell off the bone. It came in this very rich and thick tomato and paprika sauce. The dish came with a side of creamed spatzle which are egg noodles and had a creaminess that balanced out the rich spiced sauce. Very comforting. - Beef goulash: my fiancé got the goulash which similarly had super tender beef in a rich sauce and paired with spatzle for a comforting balance. This sauce also had hints of paprika but was far more subtle than that of the chicken paprikas. Very nice dish, really filling. If you like goulash, definitely order this! - Wiener schnitzel: having had schnitzel in Vienna, I had cautious hope about this. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised. The breading was slightly thicker here and less airy in general and the meat a bit less tender but I liked how it was not so greasy and I did like that the breading was overall very thin. The lingonberry sauce was quite sweet and would have preferred it on the side. The potato salad though was really amazing and reminded me of that we had in Vienna. It was the perfect side to have with the schnitzel with its pickled, tangy, and herbal elements. - Warm cheese strudel: this dessert was perfect! It came warm and had a moist consistency, almost like a hybrid between a tres leches and a French toast. The cheese was a bit sweet but had little hints of savoriness which really helped balance the dish. - Sachertorte: nice chocolate and apricot cake. This was a lot breadier and less moist than the ones we had in Vienna, however, still good! I thought the chocolate, apricot, and rum balance was perfect. - Hot chocolate: best hot chocolate I have had in a while! Creamy but not too thick, perfectly sweet without being too overwhelming, and had the right amount of chocolate. The whipped cream was light and added a really aesthetic and refreshing touch. They offer a version with rum as well but the original was my favorite. Overall, I had an amazing dinner here! The service was good, the food was amazing and perfectly comforting for the cold weather, and the ambiance was just impeccable. I think this is the perfect spot to bring parents to impress them and have a nice meal. I definitely want to try their brunch/ lunch one day although know those are walk in tables. Would recommend for dinner and or coffee + dessert!

The weisswurst was especially tender and flavorful, paired nicely with the pretzel and sweet mustard. That said, the presentation was a bit odd. The whole plate was very monochromatic, mostly shades of brown, which we couldn't help but laugh about a little. We also had the smoked trout crêpes, which were just as tasty and much more visually appealing, but noticeably smaller in portion. That contrast felt a bit inconsistent and left me still a little hungry by the end. Overall, it was a mix of great flavors and a beautiful setting, but with some unevenness in presentation and portion sizes that made the experience feel slightly off.

Don't ask me the difference between these varieties. I can only surmise that each is a different blend of meats, like beef, pork, or chicken. My favorite will always be bratwurst (beef and pork), but I also enjoy their Knackwurst. While the brat has a very breakfast sausage-like texture, the knackwurst is denser and firmer, closer to a traditional American hot dog. You have the choice between a potato or pretzel bun, and it is almost sacrilegious not to choose the latter. You can also add up to three toppings, including onions and relish. While this stand has indoor seating, it's recommended that you sit at their outdoor tables or standing bar on a sunny day out. Granted, Stube is double the price of a typical hot dog stand, but this is clearly more elevated and made with premium ingredients.
