Ceglarz Motor Repair & Sales

Disclaimer: Peter Ceglarz and I have friends in common, but had never met 'til today…read more "Save pennies, lose dollars," ring the words of my mentor, years ago. I had seriously worn tires and was shopping around because just 50,000 miles ago I spent $1,000+ to buy OEM tires (Bridgestone Dueler) for our SUV. Costco kept me waiting a week and a half. When I went there this morning - with an appointment - they explained they were having trouble getting enough tires (they're having a Bridgestone sale). I was fed up. Now, all I knew about Ceglarz's was that they were relatively small, family-owned, and had won "Best Of" in the local paper for years running. I wasn't looking for a bargain - I was looking for tires. I felt self-conscious. The guy's a master mechanic, not "Town Fair Tires." Peter's personality is very calming. I knew I was in the right place. He persuaded me to get tires that're *better* than OEM - at the same price. He laid out the bottom line - $808 - sixty dollars more than Costco. He received the tires in 20 minutes. I drove over when he called. "I eat lunch from 12:00 to 1:00." Me: "Then I'll come over at 1:00." "No, no, bring it over right now." I got there at 11:05. The car was ready when I came back from a walk to the store - at 11:50! I asked about an oil change. $60 plus tax for top-quality synthetic, made for the car. He'd already written down the mileage on the car, *and* he checked the dealer's windshield sticker and knew I had 1,000 miles to go before I'd need one. I'm thrilled that I've found a mechanic I can trust.

DO NOT GO HERE. If I could give less than 1 star I would. I knew Miyan Motors would be sketchy, but…read moreI went here because they had the specific car I wanted and was prepared for a not great experience, plus reading some of the reviews. The owner originally lied about who he was (originally claiming he was just a salesman and not the owner). I (a 21 year old woman) was purchasing the car entirely on my own, but Miyan basically only spoke to my partner's dad (who I brought to check out the car). Miyan interrupted me CONSTANTLY and continued to bring up the fact that he had 4 businesses and seemed to think he was better than everyone because "he's a business man". My loan check from an outside financing company got lost in the mail (which I communicated to Miyan), but I was constantly called and texted demanding to know when it would be here. I was a full time student/working 30 hours a week at the time, so I could not talk on the phone, but was constantly getting calls from Miyan demanding information that he didn't need (my SSN, other personal info related to my external loan, etc). My mom called on my behalf and I was able to listen to the conversation afterwards, in which he called me a "stupid f*cking girl" and said this "is why he doesn't sell to 18 year olds". When I finally dropped off the check, Miyan would not release the car to me until the check cleared (even after calling Wells Fargo to verify that it was a good check), to the point where we had to call Meriden PD. Miyan claimed he would keep the car and register it for me (he had previously said it would cost an extra $500 but 'waived it' at this point). I gave him the money to pay for the registration ($400), he gave the DMV incorrect information and verbally berated them until they kicked him out. I had to pick up the car, transport it home unregistered, and go register it myself (I had no problems with the people at the DMV). Never got the money back I gave him to register it as he just stopped responding to my messages.
