Neighborhood shop right near October Mountain State Park with friendly employees. Perfect place to…read morehit up if you're camping nearby! They have a packed fridge of chilled wines ready to go for a super convenient pick up. They also have a decent number of mini alcohol bottles as well as every kind of hard liquor you could want. Some IPA's and more hard cider than I would care for. They have more varieties Leinenkugel and mini 6 pack bottles of Barefoot than I've ver seen before! Also a nice variety of Sammy Adams because hey, we're in Mass right?! Best selection of crafts? No. Switchback was about the most unique, but definitely made me smile and think of VT. We had no problem finding something to just throw back while sitting by the fire on a crisp night while roasting s'mores so yes, a successful stop. Prices were standard despite being the only atop around and checkout was easy. They even gave us a bottle opener to take with us. They sell local jerky and lottery tickets also. Lots of funny signs posted around the store, but the one behind the register that reads "I don't call 911" with a photo of a shotgun quickly reminded me "we're not in Kansas aka Philly anymore".

Sadly, though, since our last visit 3 years ago, they've done away with their fine cheese and pate counter (they do still offer some cheeses but really it's just a token appearance, not like what they had before). Such a beautiful selection of wine, liquor, and cheese! I expected a small store (it doesn't look…read moretoo big from the outside), but the inside has everything you'll need for a picnic or indulgent night with friends. I was very impressed by the variety of meat and cheese. I got myself some smoked salmon pinwheels which were delicious. Our cashier (Julio, I believe) was kind and helpful. He even recommended a cheaper corkscrew than the one we were thinking about since we just needed a single-use corkscrew. He also gave us plastic forks and napkins since we didn't have any in our hotel room nearby. Thank you, Julio and Nejaime's! We'll be back again soon.

I am impressed ... while reading some of the other reviews, you may be lead into thinking this shop…read moreis larger than it is. It's on the small side considering where the liquor market is headed with Bevmo, Wegmanns and Total Wine and Spirits offering a football field of choices. They key to this shop is that everything is well organized and the selection is good for a shop of it's size. I met the owner who is very knowledgable in wine and what he has to offer. I believe he is French, which adds a bit of authenticity to browsing the Boudreaux section. I felt like I could trust his recommendations and he was honest and did not pull any punches. He gave me a few informed choices and let me make up my mind vs. pushing one particular bottle on me, which I like. I've been at some stores where the owner is more concerned about clearing out a certain brand or a new product, so I can tell the picks they offer are based on that. However, here, I felt that the owner was doing his best to give me several great recommendations so I would return. And I will. After I got done, another (local) customer asked the owner to pick a wine that goes with mushroom soup, so that is how specific the knowledge is here! The cheese case here is unreal ... there are plenty of great cheeses to choose from and I felt the prices were on par or much better than Guido's or Wholefoods. Don't sleep on the fresh baked breads. I bought what may have been the best fresh sourdough baguette I ever tasted here. It tasted like fresh charred pizza crust. I smacked on it all day. I buzzed the beer selection which looked like it had a lot of very unique picks and they even had cigarettes behind the counter. I did not see cigars but I'm sure they had them somewhere. The store is classy looking ... exactly what you'd expect to find in a town like Stockbridge. I recommend stopping by if you are in town. I went there because the Nejaimes used to run a grocery store in my hometown of Harwinton, CT…read more (They then went on, in the 1960's, to open "Nejaime's Stockbridge Shop," a grocery store which was immortalized in a painting by the renowned artist Norman Rockwell.) I found out (from Mike Nejaime, a relative who works at my local liquor store--Ponte's Torringford Liquor Store) that even though the grocery shop has changed hands, the Nejaime family runs a couple of wine shops in that area so I wanted to speak with one of the Nejaimes. (My dad was Lebanese, so I am half, and they are Lebanese, so we also had that fond connection.) When I walked into the Lenox store, I was greeted warmly by a man working there and a nice lady as well who asked if she could help me. I said I'd like to speak to a Nejaime, and she went into the back and brought back Joe Nejaime, the proprieter, who is the son of owners of the little grocery store in Harwinton, CT from my childhood. Joe was nice as could be, and we talked and reminisced about the store from our childhood days. I ended up telling him that I saw him and his store on an episode of "The Real Housewives of New York City." He told me that Dorinda Medley (one of my favorites) has a house close by there. I was so excited to buy her signature Bourbon, and Joe even took a selfie with me! The store is immaculately clean and has an amazing selection of wines and liquors. I can't imagine you'd get better service, as well. Stop in sometime! (They also have a Stockbridge location as well as the Lenox store.)
