Nice campground. The ladies in the office are very nice and helpful. The store was well stocked. The camp also offers breakfast. The grounds are clean and in working order. The pool was a great temp and crystal clear. Family friendly! The only drawback is that there is no Wi-Fi. I'm giving it a 4, because of the lack of Wi-Fi. I decided to come back after 2 visits and update my review. Let's start with the elephant in the room. Yelp and other review sites make mention of "The crazy owner" These reports may or may not be exaggerated, but I suspect they at least have basis in fact. However, I think she may be undergoing anger management training, but needs to extend that to Customer Satisfaction. I inadvertently and for just a brief moment violated one of them. I was old to correct this NOW! I decided not to test her further! We did receive a WELCOM GOODIE BAG this time, so they are trying. The place is a good value and the sites are in above average condition. There is a lot to do here, but no organized activities. If you travel with a group of people you can organize your own. The pool is nice and clean and the store is well stocked. The negatives - We have a pop up camper so not bathroom, I depend on a clean accessible bathroom and shower. They fail here. They actually have pay showers where you have to insert a quarter for 90 seconds of water. I haven't seen this since the 60s and the campground is that old and so are the coin operated devices that turn on the water. On this visit, 2 of them were broke. One was broke so the water wouldn't turn on, another was broke so it would never shut off (automatically) so I ended up using that one all weekend. Final point of the shower, its better called a WATER CLOSET, because that is all it is, a small room with a shower and bench in it. I walked in and the store closed behind me and I was in total darkness, had to find the light switch in the dark. There are no hooks to hang clothes or personal items. The bench is barely wide enough to sit on and set some clothes on. You have to aim the shower head before you turn it on or your stuff gets soaked. Good luck trying to shower and keep your stuff dry if you are even slightly mobility impaired. I first got set up in unit #3 that wouldn't turn on. I moved my stuff to unit number 2 and found out the coin op here was also broken, but stuck on. Never tried number 3 The mini golf course looks nice and was nice last year, but this was someone's attempt to make something nice without thinking it through very well. The course was built on larger gravel with ashphalt thrown on top. Its now settling and that makes the course almost unplayable, especially the middle holes. We did have a nice time in the clean pool and the store was nice. This is close to home for us. If others wanted to come here again, as was the case, I would go, but I will probably look elsewhere most times. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! The crazy lady who says she owns the campground is off her rocker. She will yell and scream at you for anything she deems fit. You are camping on her land at her will so you must bow down to her. Your wheels touch grass she says she will throw you out. Not have a sticker on you vehicle she says she will throw you out. Splash too much in the pool she says she will throw you out. I think you get the idea. They went from taking cards to cash only so make you wonder why. The grounds guys are great but cannot ever make up for the lady that owns the place. read more

Please do not waste your hard earned money here. Please. Yes, the prices are cheap. Yes, they have availability. There's a reason why... Sharon, who owns and runs this place(Why? I will never know because she HATES people) may be the meanest, rudest and quite possibly the worst business person I have ever met in my life. I don't think I will ever know why she chose this profession. She had over 50k worth of checks in her hands for the purchase of 2 park models and a year of pre paid rent for both units. We were literally 90% of the way through the closing and getting our stickers for our cars. Me and my friends drive company vehicles that change often, so we asked what was the proper protocol for getting a new sticker or updating the vehicle on file. She told to us F off and we were never welcomed back. It's her rules and you do as she says or you F off. No matter what type of solution we offered her, nothing was acceptable for her. This really could have been solved easily in so many different ways. She actually followed us out the door in a profanity laced tirade as we left. I still to this day cannot believe this is actually a real thing that happened. read more

My husband and I attended the Lazer light show on Saturday night, 4th of July weekend. Never participated in or went to a Lazer show before. It was fabulous. The reflection off the water into the woods and trees looked like billions of twinkling LED Christmas lights. The staff worked their butt's off to set it up, we arrived early and watched all the background work it takes to put on such a enjoyable presentation. I highly recommend attending if you have the opportunity. We love it here, it is a little community and it seems like everyone is family and get along. After the tornado hit us, the staff under the direction of Mickey took a deep breath and jumped into action before daylight hit. I was like an everyday thing that they practiced routinely. Though there has never been an event like this. Everyone worked together getting the community up and back on it's feet. Mickey was like the director of a symphony and the music being made was a beautiful song. The numerous hours of continued work went on until there was a return to somewhat normal. She and her staff deserve a very big thank you and there is really no compensation that could reward them for what they did. I love this place. It is beautiful, serene, relaxing, and a community of friends, and neighbors. Like an extended family. read more

This was overall a nice place to spend a weekend. It was a little pricey for my taste, BUT it was a full hookup with sewer. A very clean pool and mini golf are included. They have a nice coin laundromat. There were several people to show us where to go on our first trip in. A well stocked and typically overpriced camp store with free slushies for the kids. There was a guy that meant well, but gave too much help backing in the trailer. The weekend sites do have some really cramped spots, uncomfortably close to neighbors shit hose. Some sites were pretty open, ours was awesome. When we checked in, the people in front of us were dealing with a lost reservation, but they still were accommodated. Honestly, I think recent reviews that shit on this place are only due to the owners open political views as well as many of the permanent campers. It may not be your favorite place if you're "going to need to speak to the manager". read more

If I could give a zero, I would. The owner was obnoxious, rude, and a know it all. My way is the only way, if you don't like it leave, attitude. Upon arriving, we was informed only one car per site, was told to leave other car back at a lot at the gate, which was at a bar/party house with people drinking backing in and out around your vehicle. Called the week before going and ask if I could bring a golf cart, was told no, that only permanent campers could have them. Then when I asked if I could have a car pass just to get back in with groceries, Was told NO and asked why couldn't I walk and carry groceries..then was asked why I didn't bring a golf cart, I told her I called the week before and asked and was told No... she lied and said it wasn't her, but she has a very distinct hateful sounding voice, so I'm pretty sure it was. Loves to let you know that she's "the owner" and what she says is the way it's going to be... We left a Day early, and two days later get a call saying we was still on campsite wanting to know when we was checking out. So needless to say, I need to watch my credit card bill to make sure I'm not charged for more. There's several nice campgrounds in the area, so I definitely won't be staying there again. Oh, by the way, we have camped all over the country for years, and I have never been to a Campground where you have to pay to shower...seriously, the money she charges and you have to pay to shower. My advice would be, camp in Walmart parking lot before going to Berkshire Campground.. Our 5 months at this campground was disappointing to say the least. Cliff tries his best to help any way he can and is generally a nice guy. He owns the rv sales and lives in the campground so is generally there if you need help with anything. The maintenance staff have been nothing but kind and helpful. The bar is ok, they have projector screens for games but is kinda pricy for alcohol, fried food and sandwiches. As for the actual grounds of the campground is very nice. The spots are generally quite spacious, the nightly spots are a little smaller. They have pull through available too. They also have a pool, mini golf, and a small playground, showers which I didn't want to go into and a very dirty laundromat which I chose not to use and drive 25 mins each way to a different cleaner one. It's old and dirty and there were dead bugs in the washers. As for the lady who's actually in charge and has the final say... she is not pleasant. She threatened us and many other people that stay there multiple times. She's hung up the phone on me I don't know how many times. She is only actually at the campground at her convenience and I have never see her go actually into the campground, just the office. She's very rude and will talk about her guests in a bad way even if they're standing right behind her. When we first got there we chose the higher rate of $750 (per month) to have our electric included in the price (as oppose to $650 +metered electric) and then decided one day to stick electric bills to the door of our camper. We were still paying a lot here and turns out that the seasonal people only pay $2300 and are supposed to only be allowed there on the weekends but most were there every day so that was annoying as we paid them a total of $4186 just for our rent for less time than the seasonal people are there for. I felt they really didn't appreciate our business and were really quite rude to almost everyone that stayed there including us. This would be a wonderful campground under different ownership. We have a seasonal spot and got it after spending numerous weekends here and at other local places. We love the woods, pool, the emphasis on family activities (with fun adult activities like bands playing outside for everyone to enjoy). Our neighbors are wonderful and the park is always well maintained and they seem to work hard to resolve issues. Like ALL campgrounds this one has policies in place to keep the campers safe and the property in tact. We have found if you follow the rules, which there really are not many, that the staff is great to deal with. We love going to the store and talking to whoever is on duty and I love both of the owners. I have seen that some campers, those that normally complain, are the ones trying to break rules which puts everyone at risk. It's not fun explaining to my child why some adults act like children. If everyone could treat the park like their homes then it would be perfect. This is our second season and we are excited to spend each summer weekend there! read more

The cost of the campground isn't up to the standards of what you paid for. Feels more like being in a mobile home park than a campground. Campground traffic going by most of the night Laundromat was atrocious lost money in the dryer and when I asked for help she would not return the amount I told her I had lost. But she did try to help me. washers only had cold water running to them and rusty water put stains on the rags I did wash. Save your money and find another place to stay. read more

Have to agree with several of the other campers' comments. I cannot believe the spectacular level of insensitivity here. My husband and I are newbies. We were given a map - and were on our own. When it seemed that we had found our site - we were set upon by an obnoxious employee who asked "how did you get back here?" When I told her that the gate opened - she seemed shocked. We were completely unhooked - it was hot and raining. Rather than tell us to leave it for the night - and move to the correct site the next day - she simply drove away. My husband is a Vietnam combat veteran and was doing his best to get things in order. We then were "treated" with an appearance by the owner (I presume from other comments) who was even more rude (didn't think that was possible, but boy was I wrong). She said she would give us our money back if we wanted. My husband at this point was not going to stay - no matter what. We hooked up again and left. But in order to get my refund, I was given a thorough tongue-lashing when I got to the office - including being cursed at. I was so stunned by this behavior that I could not speak. I was then told we would never be welcome at the site again. Trust me - I wouldn't stay at Berkshire if it was free. Beware all - I want to thank the super neighbor at our "wrong" site for his help in getting our rig hooked up in the rain - he was nice, supportive and helpful - and also the staffer who helped us back into the "wrong" site - also very nice and helpful. For the record - the level of stress inflicted upon us at Berkshire caused a full-blown PTSD episode for my husband -who ended up in the hospital. read more

Living here hasn't been bad at all, I have enjoyed it thus far. The staff has been VERY helpful and respectful to myself and my husband. Bar prices are a bit high but it's nice to go up there once in a while. The year round people are so much quieter than summer and seasonal people but that's to be expected. read more
