We reserved one of the full hookup sites online and stayed at the end of September 2025. The online…read morereservation site has all the details on lot size, electricity info, distance to showers, etc. However, it's limited in showing different dates, which is frustrating. Anyway, the check-in time is 3pm and check-out is 1pm. We paid fifty-three dollars per night for two adults and one dog, with a six fifty reservation charge. Check-in was easy, and the attendant was helpful; you just drive up to the office, check-in and go on your way. The layout is similar to a subdivision with cul-de-sacs and each spot having its own little yard, making it feel somewhat like camping in the woods. Our neighbors were quiet and most vehicles drove slowly. Everyone we met was pleasant and friendly. The camp itself was clean and easy to hook up. Bathrooms and showers were clean and there was plenty of toilet paper. Large trash bins were available along with gray water stations. The only thing I'd suggest is for the site identifiers to be repainted, as several had faded over time. We visited the beach, but didn't go swimming, given the temperature. The pond is catch and release and seemed maintained and not stagnant. The budget limitations need to be considered before passing judgment. We used bug spray every day and that seemed to help keep the bugs away. The site we booked had a level surface and plenty of room to back in. The water and electrical were easily accessible and worked fine. A lot of campers used an inline water filter. The water quality report is on the park website for anyone interested. The grass was well trodden, making a camp rug a must-have. There was also a fire pit with a grill attached, but we didn't use it to cook. Also, at the time, there wasn't a burn ban. Overall it was an enjoyable experience and we'll definitely return. It was fun to walk down the aisles and see all the setups and decorations and note future camp site options. How many campers are long-timers, it's hard to tell. But we were pleased and our dog loved exploring on our walks.

We chose swimsuits based on previous reviews but either they do not care about the amount a swimsuit covers now or whoever does wasn't there that day based on what some were wearing. They do make everyone get out of the water every hour.

In my four separate visits throughout the years I have never once experienced any type of staff that are rude (they're actually so much fun and take time to check on you and your family because they are considerate and thoughtful.) Quiet hours are respected and when they aren't it's handled quickly. Every bathhouse, front office, pool, lake, fishing pond are all well maintained and clean! So happy we stumbled upon this little campground. Out of all the campgrounds we visited this summer (including Jellystone in Mt. Gilead), this was the kids favorite. I felt safe letting them ride their bikes and play at the playground. It is close to anything you'd need and about a 25 minute drive to Old Man's Cave. We also had a small issue (which turned into a non-issue) in the beginning with someone else plugged into our 30 amp and the lady at the office couldn't have been nicer and took care of everything right away. It's a quieter, relaxing bit of nature within the…read morehustle and bustle of the fair, but it is packed with plenty of things to do, see, and learn. Tour the tiny nature center, which was showcasing amphibians at the time of our visit, and step inside a yurt to see what makes it a unique overnight option. If you're taller than 50 inches, you can sign up for a kayak lesson in the pond. They offer good instructions on the basics and then let you try it out. The Discovery Pavilion has a lot of information, the kayak sign-up booth, a section that showcases state parks (this year, the focus was on the upcoming Great Seal State Park). They also offer a living stream exhibit where you can see some of the critters that can be found and hold a crayfish. There's also a sand dig area. A neat addition this year was the opportunity to try putting out a virtual fire with a light up fire extinguisher. A fire tower is located near the classic giant Smokey the Bear. Unfortunately, you can't climb it, but it does set the scene nicely. Smokey, who is turning 79 this year, will chat with you if desired. There are multiple playground options - the recycling express train is a kid favorite, a wildlife themed one, and a newer gas and oil themed one that has a very neat - and popular - OHIO structure in it. There is also a prairie to explore, a display of native animals (owls, hawks, fox, skunk, and more), a wetland area, a butterfly house, a geology walk, and a number of additional hands-on activities, including archery and shooting ranges, and a fishing pond for 14 and under using cane poles. A gift shop and information booth are also available. A lot of related organizations usually host booths back here too, with additional activities, games, and plenty of information. This is always the first place I recommend when asked about the fair!

Located in the SE corner of The Ohio State Fairgrounds, you'll find this cool micro-park is a nice getaway from the overload of the sights and sounds of the nearby Midway and Kiddie-land areas. This place is packed with plenty to see and do. Be sure to check out the amphitheater there where you can relax and watch a show, visit the butterfly house to watch the little winged ones and don't miss the aviary with it's premier resident, an American Bald Eagle. Take a stroll through the wetlands and prairie areas too while you're there. People preferring something more active might want to head over to the shooting range and try their hand at archery or target shoot with an air gun. The park also has a 7200 square foot pond so you can try your hand at some kayaking. And for the kiddos, let them do some fishing at the stocked pond or have a talk about fire safety with an animatronic 14 foot tall Smokey the Bear. Natural Resources Park is an educational park and there's a lot of Ohio Department of Natural Resources folk around to answer your questions. Looking for the best places in Ohio to hike, bike, fish, camp and boat? These men and women are eager to talk with you about what The Buckeye State has to offer us. Make it a point to visit the park while you're there this year. There's something for everyone and you just might learn a little bit if you do.

That said you pay a hefty price so there should be some good "free" stuff to enjoy. We were in a fairly big lot for a pull through space. The pool was jampacked until Sunday morning. That was when we decided to visit it. There seems to be a lot of seasonal campers that are catered to. That is the first place we've stayed at that had a full bar! There is a small kitchen that does some great pizzas and chicken wings. Thursday through Sunday the kitchen is utilized for breakfast and lunches as well.
