While I've heard of the famous Chief Leatherlips monument, I didn't know it was located smack dab in the middle of a park near the Scioto River. Very cool! My nephew and I were spending a beautiful Friday afternoon exploring parks in the neighborhood. This one popped right up after doing a quick search on Yelp for parks in the area. We arrived to find a vacant parking lot, but a crew of landscapers tending to the lawn. After parking in the shade we began to explore and, of course, that started with Leatherlips. I always appreciate a good informational plaque and the one here told us all about the history of Chief Leatherlips. There's even a Dublin Arts QR code to scan for more details. This took a few minutes and we moved on, heading straight for the river. We tried skipping some rocks... but we couldn't really find any good ones and the current wasn't flowing right. We moved on to climbing trees. That was fun for a minute. Next was explaining to an eight year old about the history of amphitheaters. Our conversations really went wild from there. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the playground was off limits but we were still able to kill a little time. I recommend coming here for a good picnic, to play some frisbee, read a good book, or toss a baseball. Other than that, it's fairly small and you'll kill your time quickly without something to keep you busy.

Cute peaceful park along the river. Plenty of benches and fish art. Chief leatherlips oversees everything from the hillside.

Really nice park. Upkept and Clean. Ample parking and accommodations. They have a play area for children with swings, a tower, etc.. Two areas for sitting and picnics - One near the children's play area and another by the parking area.

This park is pretty small. Not a ton of parking here, but when we came, there were maybe three other cars. It was probably getting close to 3pm on a Friday. I had seen pictures of a Native American chief on Instagram and had to see it. It's such a random monument to see in the suburbs. Quite unexpected. Anyway, you can climb up it from the back. There's also a little amphitheater next to it. There are bathrooms here as well. If you go down the hill, there's a bit more parking, an area to have lunch, a volleyball net, and a playground. You can also get close to the river as well via a few tiny little trails. It was calming to watch the water flowing.

Discovered this park for the first time the other day and can't believe I didn't find this gem sooner! It's right past downtown bridge park and there's a sign right off the road that lets you know where to turn in. There's plenty of parking as there's a parking lot up top and then two additional lots as you get further down. The park itself is right on the Scioto river. There's a small amphitheater, a good sized playground, a couple covered picnic areas, a really cool limestone monument, and plenty of green space! The access to the river is good as you can walk right down to it - there were several people there fishing along the edge. This is a great spot for families as I saw many kids enjoying the playground and playing on the monument. It's a perfect park to enjoy on a warm day whether you're grilling out, fishing, spending some time with friends or family, or just relaxing and enjoying the outdoors!

I like this park located along the Scioto River. It's close to the zoo so that makes this a nice place after that to relax. The Leatherlips monument is here. It also has an amphitheater for concerts in the summer. The Scioto River is next to it. It's not a lot to do here but it's still a real nice park. The amphitheater holds concerns in the summer. It's often some jazz or traditional music. It's also the site of some other Dublin Arts Council events and things. There is a big hill sloping toward the river that has been used for sledding in the winter. It may not be so now. There are signs posted that forbid sledding. Another thing is the Leatherlips monument. The monument to the Wyandot chief is in the middle of the park. I recommend this after a day at the zoo. It's a nice place to relax. You can see a concert or take pictures of the Leatherlips statue.

Met a group here to try kayaking, that's all I will say about that. In an unrelated topic, the Scioto is very cold even on warm days. Known mainly as the place with the stone head of Chief Leatherlips, this Dublin park's basic function is for shelter house rentals good for family reunion, celebratory parties, and other gatherings. It also works, as do many spots on the river, as a fishing hole and canoe launch. There are three shelter houses here, elongated gazebos available for rent. Five dollars an hour for Dublin residents, $12.50 for everyone else. These are newish, well maintain and come with quality picnic tables. Parties are served by indoor restrooms in a brick building up rustic stairs. Lots of space exist for summer yard games, soccer, or football. There is also a net orovided for Volleyball, ect. The river is shallow at the banks but runs deeper in the middle jaking a safe place for kids to fish. It has all the usual amenities found at campsites. In the center is an outdoor amplitheatre. The simi-circle brick seating cups around a red stained stage in front of sound reflexing foliage, and from what I could tell, has all the hallmarks of acustic such design are meant to have. It has everything needed to entertain large groups of nature loving people.

The best park I've been to in Westerville so far; simply because I like 'moving water' and creek a lot. And this park has a small river at the edge of it and lot of rocks and a good size kid's playground. A tiny stream/creek runs through the middle of the park and hits the river. This park is especially awesome during snow!

Beautiful park with 2 sheltered picnic areas and a nice playground area for the little ones. Also a pond close by for fishing. I'm told there's catfish and bass. Chief Leather Lips stacked stone monument is featured as you enter the park along with stacked stone riser-type seating. Best of all the restrooms are well kept and feature real indoor plumbing!

BEAUTIFUL park! Great playground for kids!

This park is perfect for an evening picnic, a day at the playground, or any big group celebrating! There are beautiful, clean shelter houses for parties and a huge grass volleyball court for entertainment. The playground is very nice and well maintained. The Scotia River runs right along the path so you can sit near the river. It's a beautiful park full of lush greenery and flowers. So pretty and peaceful!

Really beautiful park and great playground. The creek running through it is so lovely.

The land is owned by Columbus, but the park is maintained by Dublin. To access the park, you pull into an area that also leads down into an office complex. There is a small parking area directly across from the marked trailhead. The trail itself is a combination of paved and boardwalk, although there are also some worn down dirt areas that get you closer to the river. If you enter through this signed trailhead area, you will find a fork in the road. The one to the right takes you on a paved walking trail that ends with a staircase that takes you back up to the street level. The fork to the left takes you towards the boardwalk area, which has a number of little streams and a nice little forested area. There is a ton of waterfowl and birds throughout, and a lot of interesting plants and trees to enjoy, as well. The noise of the animals and river helps provide a calming atmosphere, despite the proximity to the roads. This is well worth a visit!

You'll see O'Shaughnessy Dam, pumping tons of water from the Scioto River into the faucets of the fine people of Dublin and Columbus and surrounding Ohio areas. This is a really neat park. It's not a park-park, but more of a place with picnic benches and a big grassy area, where you can relax and enjoy the outdoors while looking and listening to the water fall in the dam. The ambient sound of the water is relaxing -- it's just so big and loud and repetitive. I could hang out and listen to it and stare at the water for hours. However, I only got to stay and listen to the water for a minute or two, because I had children with me. Children don't appreciate standing in one place and listening to water. What kids do appreciate is exploring, and so we set off to check out what else Glick Park & Overlook had to offer. If you feel like walking a bit, there's a dirt path that goes down to the base of the dam, which will give you an up-close look at the falling water. When we visited, there were two people fishing, so I'm thinking that this might be a good place to fish. There was also a sign that warns visitors that if they hear a siren, then they should GTFO and seek higher ground. So, like, maybe don't visit when the river is high? Or maybe just keep an ear out for a siren, just in case. The walk down to the base of the dam and back up again isn't too steep, but it could have some people huffing and puffing, so keep that in mind. The path was smooth and should be OK for strollers and wheelchairs. Parking was plentiful when we visited. There were lots of spaces, and the parking lot is conveniently located right by the picnic area.
