No waterfall. Maybe we got unlucky but there was no waterfall at all. The stream was almost all dried up as well. Really nothing to see here. Super short walk that is all on a wooden boardwalk. There is awful parking here, only like 6 spots, which sucked. There was also several groups of people smoking weed on the trail, with children. Just not a good time and no waterfall to see, wouldn't recommend at all.

It's ok. If you have trouble walking or are in a wheelchair you won't be able to see it.

This is a beautiful little spot. I find it peaceful and serene. It is best to go during the day on weekdays as it can get congested. Also, there is limited parking in the area. For anyone who has a hard time walking, it is not the best place to go as there are several stair steps to go down. This place can be a hit or miss at times with the waterfall. I went today and it was completely dried up and no falls were present. However, it is beautiful when there is an active waterfall. The times I have always found the water is running during the Spring months. During the Fall, the water had a smaller stream, but it is beautiful to walk with the colors of the trees. Summer has been the worst with the actual falls. Have not seen a good fall as of yet during the times I went in the summer months.

Super pretty walk!! Kind of intense but worth it!! Not too much parking but people are quickly in and out! It's sucks you can't get in but it's still a pretty sight!

Hayden Run Falls is such a beautiful spot! It is officially considered part of Griggs Reservoir Park, though it is separate from the rest and has its own small parking lot. The signage does, however, state Griggs Reservoir. There are a couple of viewing options here. You can park and then head up the sidewalk to one or both of the observation decks that look down onto the falls in the ravine. This is a good option if you'd prefer or need to avoid stairs, or if you're like us and just enjoy taking in all the viewing angles. If you're up for a short walk that includes stairs, you can head down into the ravine, which brings you down to a nice boardwalk that leads you right down to the waterfall. Depending on how much rain has come down lately, it could just be a bit of a trickle up to its full magnificent force. Parking can be tight since the location is very popular, and there's no real overflow area since it's right along a busy road, so going during off times can be helpful.

So I've driven past this hidden gem for over 30 years. About 10 years ago I heard that we had waterfalls in our city, and every year I say, I must go. It finally happened today, we ventured out to Hayden Run Falls, located in Hayden Run Park, but note the sign actually says Griggs Nature Preserve . There is a small parking lot which holds about 10 cars. Please note the falls are not wheelchair or stroller accessible. In order to reach the falls you must walk down a very long staircase. Once you reach the falls there is an observation deck perfectly located for an amazing picture. Take a moment and enjoy the beauty of creation before climbing back up the steps. LOL

We live south of Dayton but came here to see the waterfall. It's spring .. we haven't had rain in 4 days but the falls was still really nice. There is some parking .. but not much. As we were leaving there were people waiting on our spot. you walk down some stairs and a wooden pathway to the falls. For Ohio is was a nice waterfall.

Tony, Noel and I decided to road trip today to the Columbus Ohio area to check out a couple falls in the Dublin suburb. It took about 2 hrs to drive here with road construction in several areas, but we made it. The weather was perfect for our afternoon jaunt, not too cold or hot, with a nice breeze. I was able to navigate to the small parking lot. There are NO SIGNS mentioning Hayden Falls or even Hayden Falls Park, in fact ONLY sign mentions Grigg Reservoir so I thought at first t.v. hat I was lost. From parking lot to boardwalk, there are approximately 50 stairs. The boardwalk is well maintained as nd it's a nice peaceful stroll to the waterfall. The park is FREE to enjoy. It's adjacent to the Scioto River. There are NO benches or picnic tables. I definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Really short little jaunt over to the falls. A lot of stairs, right at the beginning but nothing too difficult. A tree has fallen down right at the lookout, but you can duck under it fairly easily. We spent about 10 minutes here altogether with the "hike" and taking a few pictures of the falls :)

With or without the waterfall, this is a beautiful view. It's a super short distance from start to finish and it's entirely boardwalk. Everything about this path is picturesque. The sign says Grigg's Nature Preserve, so don't go looking for Hayden Run Falls. Parking is very limited, so get there early or else you'll be out of luck! Something unexpected I discovered: There were suicide hotline signs attached to the rails closer to the waterfall, which really touched me. They had positive messages on them as well.

It's a small park off the busy Hayden run road. Boardwalk is easy to maneuver as long as not wet I suppose. I only deducted a star because the water is low and the Falls were a trickle. I'll have to come back when we have more precipitation.

This is a hidden gem of a park in the middle of an urban (actually suburban) area. I've driven by this site dozens of times without realizing it was there and how beautiful it was. First off -- the sign by the road says "Griggs Nature Preserve" - not Hayden Run Falls or Park. There is a small parking lot along Hayden Run Road which is a fairly busy road in the NW area of Columbus/Dublin. After parking, you go down a long set of wooden steps and follow a boardwalk along the stream back to the actual falls. The falls themselves are beautiful and it's amazing to find such a site right in the middle of a busy urban area.

This is a great -- and surprisingly suburban -- site to visit during or after some significant rainfall. We'd visited earlier in the year, only to discover that there was no actual waterfall at that time, owing to it having been a dry week or two. We resolved to return after it had been raining for awhile, and this morning, after a few days of rain, we visited early and saw the waterfall cascading in its full glory. I will say that there are a couple of things that detract from this site: first, the parking is limited, and a little precarious given that the lot is a narrow offshoot of the busy Hayden Run Road. There are a dozen or so slots, and when we visited in the Spring, the lot was full, and there was truly nowhere else to park (we wound up waiting for another car to leave). The other issue is that after a lot of rainfall, the stairs and the boardwalk are quite slippery with no traction strips. I felt it necessary to hold on to the rail and take the steps one by one like a small child, rather than a 41-year-old man, but fortunately my body remained intact, even if my dignity did not. Otherwise, this is a rather nice waterfall in the heart of suburbia, and though the water itself is a little murky and discolored, owing to some obvious residential runoff, it's worth visiting at least once.

Ask the Community - Hayden Falls Park

Is this hiking trail open right now during the quarantine?

According to the Columbus parks site all parks are closed bc of COVID 19. I didn't find a date when that may change. https://www.columbus.gov/RecreationandParks/

Can you actually get to the water and be able to take a picture with the kids toes sticking in, or is it a restricted area and you are only allowed on the boardwalk?

I didn't notice any access other than on the boardwalk. The viewing platform gets quite close to the falls, enough to be wet from the mist/splash.

The land is owned by Columbus, but the park is maintained by Dublin. To access the park, you pull into an area that also leads down into an office complex. There is a small parking area directly across from the marked trailhead. The trail itself is a combination of paved and boardwalk, although there are also some worn down dirt areas that get you closer to the river. If you enter through this signed trailhead area, you will find a fork in the road. The one to the right takes you on a paved walking trail that ends with a staircase that takes you back up to the street level. The fork to the left takes you towards the boardwalk area, which has a number of little streams and a nice little forested area. There is a ton of waterfowl and birds throughout, and a lot of interesting plants and trees to enjoy, as well. The noise of the animals and river helps provide a calming atmosphere, despite the proximity to the roads. This is well worth a visit!

You'll see O'Shaughnessy Dam, pumping tons of water from the Scioto River into the faucets of the fine people of Dublin and Columbus and surrounding Ohio areas. This is a really neat park. It's not a park-park, but more of a place with picnic benches and a big grassy area, where you can relax and enjoy the outdoors while looking and listening to the water fall in the dam. The ambient sound of the water is relaxing -- it's just so big and loud and repetitive. I could hang out and listen to it and stare at the water for hours. However, I only got to stay and listen to the water for a minute or two, because I had children with me. Children don't appreciate standing in one place and listening to water. What kids do appreciate is exploring, and so we set off to check out what else Glick Park & Overlook had to offer. If you feel like walking a bit, there's a dirt path that goes down to the base of the dam, which will give you an up-close look at the falling water. When we visited, there were two people fishing, so I'm thinking that this might be a good place to fish. There was also a sign that warns visitors that if they hear a siren, then they should GTFO and seek higher ground. So, like, maybe don't visit when the river is high? Or maybe just keep an ear out for a siren, just in case. The walk down to the base of the dam and back up again isn't too steep, but it could have some people huffing and puffing, so keep that in mind. The path was smooth and should be OK for strollers and wheelchairs. Parking was plentiful when we visited. There were lots of spaces, and the parking lot is conveniently located right by the picnic area.
