It's OK. We had an overnight stay here, so we didn't really take advantage of all the amenities, other than the dog park and the laundry room. It's nice and shady, and the folks working at the front desk are very friendly and helpful. I guess my biggest complaint is the wifi. It's weak and difficult to log in. I managed to log in on my phone, but I was unable to on our TV and Roku. I was able to use my phone hotspot for the TV, so it was really just a first world problem. read more

A very nice KOA location. They know their clients, they have extra parking for boats and 2nd vehicles, something frequently frowned on at other sites. Being a pop up owner, we like to have a nice clean hot shower, which they have! Very nicely kept. We got one of the patio sites and enjoyed it. The only down site to these are too much light! They have a patio light, a light on the power box and a street light above our site. Could be darker. Nice will stocked store with nice people. I found it a little odd they closed the store/checkin at 7pm on a Friday the biggest arrival day of the week! Had a great time will come back. The only thing going for this KOA is that it is about 30 minutes from Columbus. The place does not come close to KOA standards. No maintenance anywhere. The greenery (not grass but broadleaf weeds) is not cut. Gravel spread throughout the camp site. No way to know where the street ends and the site begins. No wi-fi to be found (we were a paper airplane throw from the main building). By the way, the camp office is closed more during daylight than it is open. Just a lack of care/pride by those who run it. Someone from KOA should stop by and visit. They would be ashamed. read more

We wanted to go cabin camping for Memorial Day weekend. Somehow, I found the Buckeye Lake KOA and their deluxe cabins. Luckily, they had availability for the full weekend, so we booked it! The cabins were equipped with dishes, cookware, cooking and eating utensils, a coffee maker, dish soap, linens, a tv in the living room and bedroom. Pretty much anything you might need for a stay. Outside, the cabin had a porch sewing, and on the deck was a table and four chairs with a gas grill. This stepped down to a paved patio that had another 2 chairs to lounge in next to the fire pit. We really enjoyed our stay! They had a couple of activities throughout the weekend for adults and children. The pool opened on Saturday, and there is a playground, jumping pillow, and pedal carts. They have mini golf and a game room, but I think mini golf may have been closed, and the game room was part storage room, part arcade. The floors in the cabin including the shower are filthy. I wouldn't let my kids go barefoot, and when they didn't listen and finally took shoes off, their feet were blackened by the yuck on the floors. I wish that they'd bleach the floors between guests. We paid the same prices we would have paid in a hotel, so I did have higher expectations for the stay. Things felt dirty and a bit run down, which was too bad. We did enjoy our visit and recommend giving the campground a try. read more

We have stayed at 3 KOA's over that last 2 years (same ones multiple times) and this was by far the worst. I never do reviews but considering this impacts kids I felt it was necessary. We stayed on a Friday night, arriving at 4 and was suppose to stay all weekend, but left early Saturday evening. We were tent camping and the tent sites are right beside what you think is a creek/stream but is completely nasty stagnant water and mosquito infested We did everything to try to not be eaten alive. I get you will get bitten when camping, but this was beyond normal. We had to sit inside a screen tent all night and skip a fire. We woke early sat and went to Hudson lake to get away from it all. Came back and packed and left at 6. My 5yr olds leg from Friday night. We had two 5 year old and two 8 year old that are covered from head to toe in bites. It's an older campground (which is fine) but bathrooms weren't the cleanest and the pool could use some overall maintenance. Loud late at night, but this didn't bother us, could others though. Sunbury KOA and Michigan Traverse City were great experiences. read more

This was our first time ever staying at a KOA at all. We stayed one night on late registration at a primitive tent site. The site was $28 without water or electric, which is more expensive than most other primitive camping that INCLUDES water and electric, but I guess since they offer the swimming pool, game room, and an on site general store, they upcharge for it whether you use it or not. There were two showers in the women's room and televisions in each bathroom playing something round the clock, which seemed an odd choice, but it's not my electric bill. At some point around 8-9pm a truck came through spraying something through the air throughout the camp -- bug spray? Water? Fertilizer? Who knows? There was no notice that this was a thing that happened so it kind of took us off guard since they backed their truck up to us and pulled forward spraying in our general direction. Lol. Guess it doesn't matter when you're in an RV! Otherwise it was a cute spot. We felt safe. There was a cute bullfrog making noises. We befriended a black cat. And slept generally fine. read more

This place is filled with disrespectful guests that all have golf carts and use the roads as their personal go kart track until 10:45 at night yelling, speeding past other campers, blowing their horns, and making all the dogs in the campground bark. Flood lights on RV's all night. Not to mention how filthy the bathrooms and showers are... it's also the most expensive KOA in 2500 miles across the country. We've been coming here for about 10 years. That being said it seems to me that the park has been going down hill with its maintenance. We have never had good cable reception. The sites could use some new gravel and there are so many trees that need trimming. I told an employee about branches above our camper that are in need of removal but no one seems too concerned. While walking our dogs this morning I did see a branch fall on a camper. That being said this park is in a great location, plenty of restaurants around and things to do. If maintenance would trim the dead branches and improve the cable it would be great. read more

Clearly, their quiet time hours are not being enforced which is a shame as this KOA is esthetically appealing. NEVER AGAIN!!! After many years as a seasonal, we pulled our trailer from Buckeye Lake KOA. The grounds are not maintained, facilities not clean, office hours, in the summer...close early, and the staff is less than friendly. Steve in particular is rude and combative! Screaming at kids, adults, and removing items from sites that he doesn't approve of vs. having a constructive conversation. Family friendly? Not at all! Before writing this review, I read some of the other comments and the responses from "Brian". Many of the same complaints going back to 2022. We're going into 2024 and NONE of these issues have been addressed. Yes, the location is great for things to do in the Buckeye Lake area but scope out your options and weigh the pros and cons. If you're looking for a place with tall grass, dead trees, dirty facilities, limited hours for kids activities and very rude staff, this is the place for you! read more

NOT AS ADVERTISED. MANAGEMENT NEEDS REPLACED. We were staying at this campground with multiple families for a baseball tournament. We selected this campground due to all of the activities for kids and the location to the tournament. It looks great online, that is where it ends. Pool The pool is nice and would be enjoyable if it were not for Rhonda. The campground never gave kids wrist bands and kids were yelled at multiple times for not having wrist bands. Kids had been swimming for two days and never questioned about wristbands nor were we provided any when we requested them twice. They were out of them. No others children in pool had wrist bands on or were questioned. Only the children in our group. Kids repeatedly yelled at for jumping in pool although the sign says no diving. Mow mind you, these are a group of baseball players age 14 on vacation. They were not being rude to anyone. Just boys enjoying sun and the pool. Bounce House Never up and running Paddle Carts Closed at 6pm at night and not available all day Sunday. Many of them in very poor condition. Arcade Room Looks great when you walk in. Multiple games did not work or would not provide prizes upon winning. Upon winning the kids went to the front desk and spoke with Rhonda who promised someone would come fix and provide prizes. This never happened. Activities Only on fathers day. No other activities happened for the kids Wednesday - Sunday. Management All questions and concerns were met with an attitude from Rhonda. Rhonda showed up on Sunday at dinner time in biker clothes, no employee apparel or name tag and began yelling at the kids in the pool again with no wrist bands on. Commented that no-one was watching the (14 year old boys) in the pool while all the parents were around the corner under the pavilion eating dinner. The sign says under 13 have to be attended too. After yelling at the boys who were the only ones in the pool, we approached and asked why? She said they are under the age of 13 and need to be watched and she then criticized the parents for having consumed alcohol. We requested to speak with an owner after the trip ended, and Rhonda said an owner would call us. This has not yet happened. The campground had many issues with those in our party staying in cabins. The campground guests are great. All of the staff aside from Rhonda were warm and welcoming. In the end, Rhonda was rude and provided a horrible customer service experience. read more

Beautiful park conveniently located just off the interstate! Large trees and spacious sites make you feel like you're lost in the woods! The park was very quiet, clean and the customer service was awesome! There was a bit of construction going on during our stay but the improvements look to be amazing! Large grassy dog park is a plus! Very conveniently located in Buckeye Lake, short drive to Columbus, Lancaster and Hocking Hills State Park! A few great little restaurants and brewery nearby. There are long term residents and they appear to be in a private area on one side of the park. We will definitely stay again! read more

Came here for a 4 day stay with my family, after visiting here years ago was disappointed with what it has become. The biggest issue was that most of the activities were closed the entire 4 day stay, when asked to open they said they "didn't have enough staff," but when further pressed they sent someone out to open it. Super clean and one of the nicest KOAs we've stayed at. All the staff super friendly and went the extra mile to make sure we were taken care of. They were all so nice even though our boys got a little rowdy and loud at times. Here are some amenities: Pedal cars, they also have a 4 seater so we took our boys for a ride (definitely a workout) Jumping pillow and mini golf Basketball and volleyball by a pavilion Play ground and sandpit Horseshoes and shuffleboard Giant checkers and chess Game room with pool tables, air hockey, and arcade games that give tickets. Rocking chairs or swings at every site (at least that I could see) Dog park Swimming pool, obviously seasonal. The restroom - Very very clean the whole time. I saw employees go in a few times during the last two days to get trash out, wipe down the sinks, etc. My favorite part...there is a blow dryer!! The showers were super clean and one is handicap accessible. There is a changing table a and a toddler/infant seat. There is also a TV, but it wasn't on so I don't know if it's for something specific or not. The shop was well stocked compared to a lot I've seen. They even serve ice cream! There was a frozen custard shop down the road, but it wasn't open. Overall I was very impressed. Not as big as a Jellystone Park, but this KOA is nicer than most and has a lot to offer. We've been coming to Buckeye Lake KOA for more than 10 years. In 2022, we decided to go seasonal. What a huge mistake. The first weekend we were there, a KOA employee, staying 2 sites north of our site, was hauled away in handcuffs. Management told us she showed up to work stoned, was asked to leave, and then called in a suicide threat to management, to spite them for making her miss a day's wages. Her dilapidated camper, her trash, and her car (with 2 flat tires and license plates that expired more than 4 years ago) remained in the site for more than a month. Once her site was empty, the KOA rented it out to a couple who used it as their primary residence. They only came out of their camper after midnight and returned before dawn. Every time they returned, they would conceal the license plate on their vehicle. Suspicious at best. Sometimes, they would be gone for days at a time, leaving their Mastiff alone in the small camper, howling relentlessly, and hopefullly defacating on all their belongings. Eventually, the male was hauled off in handcuffs. Not sure why, but he was part of a gang that was implicated in a murder in a Columbus bar. In the meantime, another KOA employee and her husband moved in RIGHT NEXT DOOR to us. Their camper was missing the entire driver's side wall when they backed it in. So we lived in a construction zone for a month while he repaired it. Even after the repairs were made, it was a complete eyesore...clearly NOT complying with the 'no campers older than 10 years' rule. But it kept getting worse. As an employee, she and her husband should have been aware of the most basic campground rules, but once again, we were disappointed. Their two dogs ran loose for the first two weeks of their stay, relieving themselves on our patio almost daily. We told them about it, and they apologized, but still let them run free. That's when we had to complain to management, who seemed sympathetic, and she did make them tie their dogs to their camper, but the tie-outs were 50 feet long, so with that much freedom, they still left their piles on our patio. We had to approach them again and ask them to get shorter leashes. The husband was unemployed, so he went out every night 'curb-shopping'. He'd bring a trailer full of junk back to the site to decorate...after midnight. At one point, he built a bar on his patio with power tools and impact wrenches...at 3:00am!!!! I complained to management, which resulted in an apology from him and an explanation that he 'works better at night, so it may be a little noisy sometimes'. Within a month, they had built what can only be described as a homeless camp on their site. 6 multicolored tarps-on-stilts held together with duct tape, hundreds of dumpster-born tchotchkes, 3 fire rings, a chest freezer, etc. We were vacationing directly next door to a junk-yard. They had so much junk piled on their site, we struggled to get to our water hookup. When the woman was finally fired and they were evicted, it took a front-loader to empty all the crap from their site! And he was arrested the following day. ALL OF THIS IN OUR FIRST YEAR AS SEASONAL CAMPERS. We came back to this gravel parking lot for a second year, thinking it had to be better than last year. But again, a KOA employee was parked two sites north of us this year. She was strange, returned to her camper every 5 minutes while on shift. Did erratic things, and eventually was fired. And although they promptly removed her hoard, they allowed her to sleep in her car in her former site after she was evicted. And then she was hauled off in handcuffs the following day. I PAID BIG $ FOR THIS?!?!? We thought we could look past all of this because we had made some great friends with the other seasonal campers we met over the last two years and wanted to stay with the group. But then we received our 2024 contract, and they were quick to point out that no dog pens would be allowed next year. Period! Our dog pen was way at the back of our site. It allowed our 3 tiny dogs some outdoor time in the sun. Most campers didn't even know we had dogs. The dog pen is a big deal for us, because we can't tie out our 5-pound blind-deaf dog. She'd be wrapped around every table and chair on the site in no time. It'd be like putting a Guinea pig on a tie-out. So a pen is perfect for her. We kept our entire site tidy, clutter-free, and were good neighbors, unlike the neighbors/KOA employees we were forced to endure throughout our 2-year journey. We witnessed a total of 5 arrests during our 2 year tenure, 3 of which were KOA employees, and we lived nextdoor to Sanford & Son for the majority of the 2022 season, but we can't have a dog pen???? Unreal! Will the 'no dog pen' rule be enforced on weekenders? Only seems fair. What's the logic behind it? On top of all this, our rates were increased by $500, while the only amenity we had - trash pickup - was discontinued. Management has told us point blank, they would not be spending any read more

It was ok mostly everything was not working except for the pool the bikes and the volleyball court. Then the workers kicked you out of those activities by 8:00. This is in the summer. When it's bright until 10 o'clock. Then a lot of the workers are rude. I was riding the carts with a kid and the worker screamed at me because the flag was not on the cart. They went up to my cabin, and said you are not allowed to use any more of these and left on his golf cart. The cabins are bad too they say it fits 8 people it's more like 5. The worst campground I have ever been to. Everything is run down sites are beat up and flooded. We used to come here a couple of times a year after this trip no more. They attempted to put in a fix to stop flooding of the sites and the city stopped them because they did not have the proper paperwork. So the nice pull through sites look like they are under construction and under water. They tried to mow our site and got the tractor stuck causing huge mud pits by the fire pit. when we requested to be moved we we're basically told nope the were full the entire weekend which was not true come to find out. was tossed a fire ring and told have a nice day. I didn't have any issues....this time June 27-June 29th 2023....late registration, NO NUMBERS ON SITES 240-250, the next day when I mentioned in the office, a man TOLD ME TO COUNT TO FIND MINE...BUT THE MAN WAS PUTTING UP SIGNS AS I LEFT two days later....see my photos, the people, employees, only got two names Debbie, Mike, they all said their "under new management". I asked about the TRASH BY BATHROOM( closest to me),the first morning. It's the only one I can see, RESPONSE...IT GETS FULL EVERYDAY, & ITS EMPTIED BETWEEN 8-11 am,( bits it's now 12:30pm) why not say thanks for letting us know, or why not just go quietly and empty it. It was completely full, so when going in and out you would have FLYS AROUND THE RECEPTACLE...NO IT WAS EMPTIED AT 4:00 pm or so when the big Camper Came in...NEXT, they had one of their GO GIRLS Mia I believe ...COME TO ME, to tell me I needed to check out on JUNE 28th, a day earlier, THEN I WAS REGISTERED TILL...it's stated on my car window where I put the yellow card...The KAMPING KITCHEN, PIPE BUSTED, TRASH FULL THERE TOO, BIRD SHIT WAS EVERYWHERE IN THERE, Non-Functioning, told me that they needed someone to fix the pipe. The swings on the cabins need varnished, POOL LOOKED DIRTY, or told it was closed, thenTHEY texted me it was open, after the fact....I felt like they were NOT KIND, UNACCOMMODATING, & WHEN LEAVING THE WORKER, the lady with the darker hair, TALKED BEHIND MY BACK, & Was SNICKERING About my comments and concerns to the other employees, how childishly & HOW RUDE, THEY ALSO STATED, by the oldest old man, the man with a beard told me me not to come back...well after I was told you didn't sell blankets or pillows, when they were sitting right there, told trash was emptied when not, had to say something RUDE, when not being able to find my site when I had a late check in. When told I needed to leave or book another night, when I was already booked til the 29th. & it's the 28th, when I was just treated these ways, why would I want to return??? Side notes fire ring, that was next to, or near me both sides had left over baby wipes, cigarettes, and cigarette boxes in them, bird shit on the picnic tables at the sites too... felt no one comes to check when others leave, so the next guest gets the left trash....I also found an empty beer can, under my table too. In my opinion, look around they has to be better places to camp with people that are kind and care. this is my review. I have taken a while to write this review. My wife and I traveled across the country from New Jersey's coast to California. We stopped at buckeye lake on trip heading west. We have probably stayed at 50 KOA campgrounds in our travels. This is one of the most expensive campgrounds we stayed at. Our expectations were to arrive at a top notch facility and were dismayed at the run conditions. We stayed thru the weekend with plans to leave Tuesday. Monday morning the place turned into a giant construction zone. We were the only trailer in our row. Between water crews,electrical work and work crews dragging buildings around to relocate them. To top things off they drove a broken down gas engine golf cart with a broken and loud exhaust system. I approached the driver to have a conversation with him. He totally ignored me and drove back to office. He sent back the security guard and a young large maintenance worker. Just wanted to know why they needed to drive this POS cart when there is a lot full of other carts to drive. With in a minute the security guard was threated me with eviction. As he phrased it [gonna 79 you from the property]. Nice way to handle customers. What else would you expect from a disgruntled excop. The young maintaince worker then started barking orders at me to go back to my trailer. What great customer relations. The management of campground needs to get their staff under control. Not every customer complaint is reason to send security and backup. Felt like I was on a episodes of cops and not having a relaxing stay there. Will never ever stay there again... read more

We often overlook this campground because it's so close to home but recently booked here to break in our new camper. We found the sites very spacious. The campground is well kept. LOTS for kids to do. Quiet. Nice that they have paid security. The real kicker is that the office caught word that my wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and they all signed a card for us and gave us a small gift. Even though this campground is close to home we are going to work it into the rotation of campgrounds that we frequent because it is such a nice place to stay. Yes. I paid money to leave my home with 6 rolling acres to be wedged between 200 campers, 37 dogs, and 100 kids. Why do we do this? To get away. It seems crazy, but it's a community when you camp. Meet nice people and there's no house work or yard work...just relaxing. We like to do working/camping trips. I write and talk for a living...we took a five day, social media unplug, write till it hurts trip. This campground is only 45 minutes from our house, but it provided the getaway I needed. Lots of pros and cons....ready? Here we go. Pro: Weekends are busy. Tons of kids. Lots of activities. Super cute stuff for families. Con: We don't have kids, so we did not participate...but it was nice seeing kids with water guns instead of electronic devices. The Saturday dj party that went till 11 was way way way to loud and way too long. Maybe 10 kids went. They need to stop it at 10 and turn the sound down AND turn the dj speakers towards the store- not the campers. Pro: Sat and Sun mornings there is a decent breakfast menu. Proceeds go to Kids KOA Camps. Con: Bring your own drink. Prices are okay except for drinks. 1.50 for a small styrofoam (I HATE styrofoam) cup of coffee. Pro: They are big about always displaying your KOA car tag. I like that. Safety first. Lots of kids running around. Con: It felt over patrolled. I think a KOA cart went by our site every 10 minutes. Con: They put us in a buddy site. This put us nose to nose, door to door, with our neighbor. NO privacy. Pro: We ended up becoming best friends with our buddy neighbors. On Sunday (when all the families left) we moved...right behind them two spaces. So, the buddy site kinda sucked but it also rocked because now Rick and Gwen are coming to visit us and we are going to see them in Medina and well, the buddy site worked! Workers are great. Store well stocked. You are charged for everything but we didn't care. This KOA is so nicely kept, well decorated, well staffed, flowers, Icecream, great Doggy areas, etc...we don't mind that they charge for everything because they obviously put it back into the campground. read more

We are members of KOA and stay at at least one KOA each year. This year, because it was a convenient part of a trip to another park, we stayed at Buckeye Lake for four nights. We've stayed at better KOAs. Pros: - Clean, well-kept pool. It is in some need of physical repairs. - Although it is a bit pricey, the firewood is excellent. Apparently, no-bark is the way to go. It burned really well. - Individual, sexless bathroom stalls and shower stalls. However, see below. - Shower pressure is decent. - Staff have been very friendly. - We were allowed to check in early because our site was already vacated. - Well-stocked camp store. - Standard screw-in sewer hookups make for a solid connection. Rare for most campgrounds.. - Level sites. No need for levelers. Pulled forward a few feet and, BANG, level (left-to-right). - Not really a pro (all campgrounds should provide this), but the pedestal was wired correctly. Connection seemed secure and breakers felt solid. - 15-month old granddaughter had a ball on the well-equipped playground. - Choice of soft-serve ice cream and hand-dipped custard ice cream across the street. Pizza next door. Cons: - Bathroom and shower stalls could stand a much better cleaning routine. Even when you could smell the chlorine of a recent "cleaning", the walls were still dirty, covered in dirt, bugs, and webs. Rusty screw heads and makeshift hardware gave the facilities a cheap look. Facilities in the camp store were modern and beautifully appointed (with even a TV), but could also be cleaned more often. - Shower heads need replacing. - Camper sites are almost completely gravel and devoid of grass. We had to wear shoes of some kind continuously. - Quiet times are not enforced. - Staff in golf carts speed through the park. That seems to motivate others to break the 5 mph limit. - Spigots are different at different sites. Ours was about 6" off the ground. It is a good thing that we bring multiple hoses, giving us a place (between the hoses) to hook in our filter and pressure regulator. - When the camp filled up over the weekend, water pressure dropped from the 45 psi we had set on our regulator to about 20 psi. A drop is normal, but 20 psi??? - Cable needs more oomph. Over the weekend, the number of users caused a drop in signal strength. Almost all channels became grainy. When the camp thinned out, signals were great. This tells me that the signal strength needs to be boosted. - Confusing pool hours. One sign says 9am - Dusk. Another says 9am - 6pm. No one threw us out after 6pm, so we just stayed and swam. - (Not on the campground owners, but you should still know.) There is not a lot to do/see in the area. My company had our 1st Annual Field Day/Camping trip this past weekend at KOA at Buckeye Lake and it couldn't have been a better fit. There was 64 of us that went and we rented out all of the cabins. Everyone had a comfortable space to sleep and also there was plenty of room for everyone to park. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. I was also surprised to find each cabin has it's AC unit and outlets. There was plenty of room for us to play our different events, (kickball, cornhole, and tug of war) We also played volleyball on the sand court that is provided by KOA. Now, I don't know if I would go back with a group this big, only bc we just fit, and we were also pretty close to the other campers. Not a huge deal. read more

Our visit to Buckeye lake included this KOA location over a Friday and Saturday night the weekend before 4th of July. We stayed in one of their 1 room "kabins." It was our first experience at a KOA. Our kabin faced east and was nearest the activities field. We loved the location for our 2 dogs as it was near the bark park and a nice gravel road to walk them by the activities field. The kabin was very clean and comfortable. It was particularly hot this weekend (90+ degrees) and the air conditioning in the kabin worked great thankfully (as long as our door was secured/closed). The restrooms and showers were not far away and amazingly fresh and super clean. I'd have to say they out-shined most fast-food restaurants I've been in regarding cleanliness! The staff in the store was very friendly. There seemed to be plenty of activities for families here as well. As evening came, our experience was that the campground was very quiet and people respected the quiet-time hours. My husband and I definitely would stay here again. If this was somewhat representative of KOA's, then we are ready for our next KOA adventure in the future. read more

Buckeye Lake KOA - KOA Kabin - comfy and clean - Campgrounds Near Me - Buckeye Lake, Ohio

First off, this place is ok. There was no gravel on my site despite being a full hook-up. It was a bit muddy, but we dealt. My biggest issue was live large fireworks being set off in the park. Since I work in the fire industry, I know it is extremely unsafe to set off fireworks in an extremely confined space. They pack the campers in tight at this campground. I asked one of the employees if it was permitted to set off fireworks in the campground and he immediately got the manager. The manager yelled at me asking me how to enforce the no firework policy. I tried to explain to her that it is pretty easy by patrolling the campsite and going in the direction the visible fireworks are being set off. She wasn't having it and was extremely rude. She even told me that I should locate the individuals setting off the fireworks and let her know who it is. I have been camping for 7 years and this is THE worst KOA I have stayed at and will not return. After receiving a text in the morning that check out time was at 10 am when the website says it is at noon, I went in to registration building to see why. The manager was there and apologized and said she got heated because I was heated. This is nonsense, I came in calm and politely asked their firework policy and why the firework usage was not being stopped. BTW - the 10 am checkout text was wrong. Given the fireworks going off, I did not feel safe, they agitated my dog, and it was overall and unpleasant experience. We were camping with my parents and it was their first trip with their new camper. I felt bad for them as this was not a usual camping experience. I wish we would have picked a campground that was better managed. read more

I am a big fan of KOA but visiting here they had no recommendations for anything local to visit or favorite spots. They had warnings for floods and don't say anything to the campers but start passively moving equipment and taking down swings and stuff. The sites and amenities were good however. It just wasn't the warm welcome and helpful staff that I am used to at KOA. read more

Well marked park with long narrow spaces for big rigs. Sites and roads in the park are gravel and level. Sites have large shady trees that have been trimmed. 2 dog parks - a large one and a small one. Cable TV and Wi-Fi for 1 device included. You have to pay a fee if you want wifi for more devices so we used our own wifi. Staff was friendly and helpful. We received 10% VKR discount. Stayed one night only but would've stayed longer if we had the time. Nice park worth the price. read more

We stayed at this KOA for a long weekend with our 5 year old granddaughter. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The campground is very quiet. You are close enough to the interstate, but not close enough to hear all the highway noises. There are tons of things to do for the kiddo's. Putt Putt golf, pedal bikes, large bouncy pillow, giant chess and checkers. The pool is very nice and clean. The bathroom and shower at the camp store were wonderful. Looked like they were brand new. It was pirate weekend when we stayed and there was a treasure hunt for the kids. Our granddaughter loved it. Movie night on Friday night. They have an old fire truck that anyone can ride on. They go all around the campgrounds with the lights and sirens on. They offer free wifi. My husband used it on his phone and when I tried to access it on my iPad it told me that the access code had expired. My husband went to the office to inquire and they told him "it is good for one device only". That was very misleading as they offer free wifi. They made it right and gave him another access code for me to use. Overall we had a great experience. I would definitely return to this KOA if we are in the area. read more

We stayed here Thursday-Sunday. The first two nights went fine. But on Saturday we had some neighbors that were outside watching tv (way too loud) till almost midnight. The quiet hours are "supposed" to be 11pm-8am but are obviously not enforced. We made several attempts to contact management and only got a answering machine. So we left a message and never received a call back. It's also very overpriced for gravel and dirt spots. We will not be back to this campground, and do not recommend it for anyone looking for a quiet weekend. read more

Only stay at Buckeye Lake KOA if you like to camp on gravel... everywhere is gravel, much like A huge parking lot. The noise from trucks on the gravel is deafening..Oh and you better like gas powered golf carts because the employees drive them up and down the roads all day. Simply the loudest park I've ever been in.. Plus the sites are stacked up like tin cans. Add on some of the dumbest employees possible and you have a Campground only good for folks passing through for the night.. Don't waste your time here... read more

So, I reserved a campsite a month prior for an event happening in the area and the price was definitely reasonable. Then I get a call a week before hand to let me know that prices are being raised to add extra security to the campgrounds. My cost per person, I have six people, went from $44 to $102 for a three day stay. I call to dispute this claim because I had a reservation at a set price and had an invoice with a reservation fee already in place. When I call to dispute, the lady, said she was going to cancel my reservation and then hung up on me. Great doing business! Not! read more

After driving 3 hours from home and checking in, we discovered that we were assigned to a cabin much further away from the location we specifically booked in February that was near our relative's two pull-thru sites and cabin site. The cabin we booked was already occupied and a similar cabin next door, booked a month ago, had guests arriving that day. We were told that they wouldn't switch the cabins because they didn't want those people to be upset as well. We were told that we had called in April to change to a cabin with an upgraded kitchen which was absolutely false. We don't do any cooking when camping with our family. Our only calls were in February to book then in June to pay the deposit along with cancelling the first night. We were not offered an apology or discount for this change that we did not request. Eventually the manager arrived and she also refused to believe that we did not call or that they would have made the change without us calling. She didn't offer any apology about the situation or agree to give us any discount on the assigned cabin. We requested a discount to stay in the assigned cabin and refused to agree that we made a phone call in April because we did not make it. I pointed out to the manager that when we checked in that they were going to change our relative's cabin without their permission (which we promptly told them not to do since we had no business authorizing a change to somebody else's reservation). The manager started telling us that she was going to give us a refund and have us leave. She then said she would call the owner to ask if we should be removed or if we should get a discount. After a while the manager came back with a police officer, presented the refund paperwork and gave us 30 minutes to vacate the property. We were not asked to leave before the police officer arrived but we promptly complied. We were denied permission to eat the meal that my wife's parents had just prepared for us before leaving. We had no option to figure out a resolution or even to just buy daily visitor passes to take part in the family camping trip. Our family trip was ruined and the campground lost hundreds of dollars with the full refund we were forced to take in lieu of coming to a compromise. read more

I will never visit a KOA campground unless I am in dire straits. I know that sounds harsh but go with me here... Myself and 2 other friends visited here last year and were unable to get into our 1st choice (Alum Creek State Park) and settled with the KOA. Not only was it incredibly pricey when we're the ones providing our own bedding, fire, tent, batteries, food, etc., but clearly we were the only ones under the age of 65 in the area. Now, that doesn't bother me in the slightest nor was it a problem- in fact, quite the opposite, however during the night we were settling in for a snooze and were awaken by flashlights peering into our tents. It was KOA Management coming to check in on the noise complaint they had 'just' received. Now, it didn't take a genius to figure out that we were not the lawbreakers of the noise curfew (yes, they have a noise curfew) but they continued to grill us on what we had been doing for the last few hours. Strange in itself. Fast forward to the morning. We went to 'check out' the next morning as there was a note on our car asking for us to stop by the office prior to departing the campground. We showed up at the office and in front of everyone were told 'Oh..these are the people. I'll have to walkie management'. After waiting for a few minutes, management came yet again (another person) and (again) grilled us on our nightly activities. REALLY? OMG. I felt like I was on the Farm and was being interrogated by the FBI. Maybe it was the fact that they were older and we ddn't want to appear disrespectful, but we stayed and listened to a lecture given to us about respecting others' peace and quiet time, etc. In defense of ourselves and 20-somethings at KOA's everywhere, we explained that we DID in fact hear a party going on nearby but that it wasn't us and there was only SO much noise a 'party' of 3 could make. That apparently wasn't sufficient or convincing to them which was completely bizarre. Ultimately we left feeling like we had just left the Twighlight Zone and vowed never to return. We felt incredibly discriminated against due to our youth and were treated like children despite all of us being 30 or older! I hate to intentionally give a place a bad review especially when there are multiple locations, so I just suggest choosing wisely and being very cautious if you book into the Buckeye Lake KOA. read more
