We wanted to go cabin camping for Memorial Day weekend. Somehow, I found the Buckeye Lake KOA and their deluxe cabins. Luckily, they had availability for the full weekend, so we booked it! The cabins were equipped with dishes, cookware, cooking and eating utensils, a coffee maker, dish soap, linens, a tv in the living room and bedroom. Pretty much anything you might need for a stay. Outside, the cabin had a porch sewing, and on the deck was a table and four chairs with a gas grill. This stepped down to a paved patio that had another 2 chairs to lounge in next to the fire pit. We really enjoyed our stay! They had a couple of activities throughout the weekend for adults and children. The pool opened on Saturday, and there is a playground, jumping pillow, and pedal carts. They have mini golf and a game room, but I think mini golf may have been closed, and the game room was part storage room, part arcade. The floors in the cabin including the shower are filthy. I wouldn't let my kids go barefoot, and when they didn't listen and finally took shoes off, their feet were blackened by the yuck on the floors. I wish that they'd bleach the floors between guests. We paid the same prices we would have paid in a hotel, so I did have higher expectations for the stay. Things felt dirty and a bit run down, which was too bad. We did enjoy our visit and recommend giving the campground a try.

Kids leg from hites

We have stayed at 3 KOA's over that last 2 years (same ones multiple times) and this was by far the worst. I never do reviews but considering this impacts kids I felt it was necessary. We stayed on a Friday night, arriving at 4 and was suppose to stay all weekend, but left early Saturday evening. We were tent camping and the tent sites are right beside what you think is a creek/stream but is completely nasty stagnant water and mosquito infested We did everything to try to not be eaten alive. I get you will get bitten when camping, but this was beyond normal. We had to sit inside a screen tent all night and skip a fire. We woke early sat and went to Hudson lake to get away from it all. Came back and packed and left at 6. My 5yr olds leg from Friday night. We had two 5 year old and two 8 year old that are covered from head to toe in bites. It's an older campground (which is fine) but bathrooms weren't the cleanest and the pool could use some overall maintenance. Loud late at night, but this didn't bother us, could others though. Sunbury KOA and Michigan Traverse City were great experiences.

Most of the sites are buddy sites which we personally dislike. The campground would be fun but everything is closed on weekdays including the jump pad and any activities. The office closes at 5pm. It's summer... the amenities should be open everyday. Very disappointing.

It's currently 11:15 p.m. and our entire area is excessively loud to the point one would think they just pulled up to Disneyland. Clearly, their quiet time hours are not being enforced which is a shame as this KOA is esthetically appealing. NEVER AGAIN!!! Downtime is crucial to MOST as one wants to feel refreshed and alert before they hit the road. LOVE music and enjoying myself albeit 11:15 p.m. is not only inconsiderate it's terribly disrespectful! Enough said, will NOT return!!!

Beautiful park conveniently located just off the interstate! Large trees and spacious sites make you feel like you're lost in the woods! The park was very quiet, clean and the customer service was awesome! There was a bit of construction going on during our stay but the improvements look to be amazing! Large grassy dog park is a plus! Very conveniently located in Buckeye Lake, short drive to Columbus, Lancaster and Hocking Hills State Park! A few great little restaurants and brewery nearby. There are long term residents and they appear to be in a private area on one side of the park. We will definitely stay again!

Super clean and one of the nicest KOAs we've stayed at. All the staff super friendly and went the extra mile to make sure we were taken care of. They were all so nice even though our boys got a little rowdy and loud at times. Here are some amenities: Pedal cars, they also have a 4 seater so we took our boys for a ride (definitely a workout) Jumping pillow and mini golf Basketball and volleyball by a pavilion Play ground and sandpit Horseshoes and shuffleboard Giant checkers and chess Game room with pool tables, air hockey, and arcade games that give tickets. Rocking chairs or swings at every site (at least that I could see) Dog park Swimming pool, obviously seasonal. The restroom - Very very clean the whole time. I saw employees go in a few times during the last two days to get trash out, wipe down the sinks, etc. My favorite part...there is a blow dryer!! The showers were super clean and one is handicap accessible. There is a changing table a and a toddler/infant seat. There is also a TV, but it wasn't on so I don't know if it's for something specific or not. The shop was well stocked compared to a lot I've seen. They even serve ice cream! There was a frozen custard shop down the road, but it wasn't open. Overall I was very impressed. Not as big as a Jellystone Park, but this KOA is nicer than most and has a lot to offer. Plus it was much quieter and not as crowded. We will definitely come back!!!

Standard KOA, small gravel lots, small dog parks, clean facilities and very busy in the weekends. However, adding a star for an amazing staff! Super friendly people and very accommodating on shifting our reservation by a day in front and backend of our stay!

The man Marking the sites when I was leaving.

Nice campground but wish they would leave their pool open through the end of September since it's been warm enough the past few years.

The biggest issue involved multiple off-leash dog incidents. While walking my leashed dogs one evening, we were aggressively approached by another dog that was not on a leash. I was able to pick up my smaller dog, but my larger dog had to defend herself. She has never been in a fight before and was simply protecting our pack. This was a dangerous situation that could have easily resulted in serious injury. I reported the incident to Animal Control because dogs roaming off-leash in required leash areas is unacceptable. What made the situation worse was how management handled it. The owner approached my husband and me aggressively, yelling at us to leave immediately and falsely accusing my dog of being the aggressor. She even violently shook our fence and demanded it be removed, despite other campers having fences in place. We were told to move by the next morning in December, despite being in a winterized site, which caused unnecessary stress and cost us a $40 lost deposit for a temporary site. After reviewing security footage, the owner later admitted we had done nothing wrong, but there was no apology or acknowledgment for the false accusations and threats. The park also has a major issue with inconsistent rule enforcement. After we were required to remove our fence, other campers were allowed to keep theirs in place for months. This creates an unfair environment and leaves guests unsure of what rules are actually enforced. Another ongoing issue was the frequent loud music. Music was often played loudly from nearby sites, making it difficult to relax, enjoy the evening, or have any peace at our camper. This happened often enough to become a major frustration during our stay. The condition of the property is also poor. The roads are entirely gravel and filled with potholes, especially near the entrance. When it rains or snow melts, these become large muddy puddles that make walking difficult and can be rough on vehicles. Because this is a small park, smoke from neighboring campers also becomes a problem. Marijuana smoke frequently drifted into our area, making it unpleasant to open windows or sit outside. There were continued safety issues as well, including another camper's unattended dog getting loose and approaching my dogs. The owner didn't even realize their dog had escaped, which only added to the ongoing stress. Cleanliness is another concern. Dog waste is often left around the property, creating unsanitary conditions and obvious health concerns. Overall, while the location may be convenient, the combination of aggressive management, unsafe off-leash dog incidents, loud music, poor maintenance, smoke exposure, and lack of cleanliness made this a very stressful and unpleasant stay. I would strongly encourage pet owners and families to consider these issues before booking.

Play areas for the kids with nice equipment. Putting greens. They sell LP. They have a dog wash. This place is in the top few percent of RV resorts. Tip: You can not place rugs on the grass- each site is paved so there really is not a need for one. Note: Restaurants, grocery stores and local attractions are not open on Sunday. They have simplified the entrance/exit making it easier to come and go. The pool was in great shape this time. But the splash pad is not turned on yet. I did see where they added new jump pads, one normal size and one huge! This is right next to a new zip line and the kids seem to love both. I decided to splurge on one of their deluxe patio sites since this was my birthday/Father's day present. We got a very nice site back in the BOONDOCKS area which is a nice secluded area not too far from everything else. It does have a nice shower that is ADA compliant, but my only suggestion would be to put a handicap sign up so more abled people can use the others first. Since I was splurging this week, we did take advantage of firewood and ice delivery and they were quick and courteous. I did have an opportunity to reach out for help with their management when an unexpected storm came through. We have a pop up that once you setup and put out the awning, its difficult to get down in a hurry. I used their text number and requested a small step ladder to help me get the awning down and they quickly responded. That was a big help. All in all it was a great stay. My only real issue is with reserving a deluxe patio site, some have propane grills and others have charcoal grills and I don't think you know till you get there, so we had to run our for charcoal.

The wagon ride was cancelled on Saturday with out a notice. We walked on the trail with the kids but it smelled terrible like sewage and there are no trail markers so we had to back track a few times. One trail took us to a house. The sun catcher paint event was not well put together. They were gone in 1 minute and not enough paint for everyone. Walked to feed the animals and didn't realize it cost a quarter to feed. Absolutely no cash on us. And we lost a headlamp we bought in the store, went to buy another the morning we left and told we were not allowed in the store and it was closed for an emergency. For the amount of money we paid just expected a little more being the holiday weekend. Don't see us coming back. Likes: bathrooms were nice, kids liked playground and jump pad, the paddle boat and life jackets, patio furniture at our site.
