I procrastinated on getting my dress cleaned - floor length with a large train, and I waited around 2 years after my wedding. The stains were mostly on the bottom of the dress. Before I brought it to Berkland Cleaners, I sent them a photo for a quote. They were very prompt and responsive! I brought my dress in and they provided me with a ticket and date to return. They didn't text/call me when it was ready which is why I docked one star, but when I called them on the designated date, they said it was ready! So it didn't take longer than promised (about 3-4 weeks). My dress was beautifully cleaned and preserved. I was not charged extra and I received my garment bag back. Found them on Yelp and saw good reviews. Decided to give it shot. They even have coupons for new customers. The owners are a Korean couple who are super organized and polite. I dropped off close to 20 items and got them back within a few days. My items were cleaned and pressed very professionally. And it didn't cost me an arm and a leg, either. I've been back a couple of times since then and were very satisfied each time. On one occasion my coat was not pressed correctly so I called the store. They took it back and redid it for me. This is the closest "chem-free" dry cleaners to my home so I tried them out recently. I am thrilled with the quality of work. I brought in a designer jacket that had been dry cleaned numerous times before (@ a 5-Star "traditional" dry cleaners), but it still had lots of discoloration and various stains on it. This was its "last chance" before heading off to the donation pile. When I returned to pick up said item, I decided to inspect it at home under bright lights and hallelujah the jacket looks brand new (all stains and discoloration gone), and it still fits me perfectly. Thank you, Berkland! Thank you for saving my expensive jacket! Summer 2020 Update - am getting all the cashmere sweaters and scarves cleaned, now that June gloom has mostly departed. I was moving to the area and messaged the business on Yelp as I was looking for an organic dry cleaners. Got a quick response from the owner, so decided to give them a try. I was nervous, because one of the items I brought was a down coat, and my previous cleaner ruined two of my downies. Thankfully, they did a great job, and gave me a low cost option to fix the zipper. That was a nice break from previous cleaners who always charge top dollar and would just say, you have to replace the whole zipper. Instead, what I witnessed was out of the box thinking and caring for the customer long term instead of making a quick buck. Staff is very nice, helpful, and caring. My pick for today is Berkland Cleaners which is a dry cleaning service in the NOBE area. I had been searching for a while for a spot because Cleaners are a sacred relationship for me given how many suits/shirts I need to have dry cleaned on an ongoing basis. I happened to stumble upon this place via yelp a few years ago and the rest is history as they say. This place has honestly been my go-to and I would not trade them for anyone else in the world. These folks are at the corner of Ashby and Sacremento. Parking can be a bit tough in the morning given a few of the buildings that are next door but it opens up fairly quickly post 11 AM so it should be an easy parallel park and drop off situation for most. The folks who own this spot are the friendliest folks in the world and I am amazed they remember my name every single time I walk in. They literally are the most flexible as it relates to when you need your items by and they will make every effort to match your schedule. The cleaning is thorough and they even placed a button on a suit pants pocket that I didn't even realize was missing with no charge. They have literally tailored jeans for me as well without a flaw and to top it all off, their prices are very reasonable compared to what I have paid in the bay area. They have the best customer service and if I have ever found a slight blemish, they offer a redo no questions asked. They have taken out stains that I thought would not be able to be done so they just work pure magic. I brought in a duvet cover and two pillowcases on a Thursday to get the yellow color out of the white checked pattern. He quoted me $35 and wasn't sure if he could get the stain out so he said to come back Monday, and if they couldn't do anything he wouldn't charge me for it. On Monday they were able to look up my order even though I had forgotten my tag. The duvet is still off white, but much improved. I think I just need to get a new one. Went here due to great Yelp reviews. But our actual experience was underwhelming and service was borderline rude/incompetant. We greeted the owner with a smile and a hello, but she barely acknowledged us. Fine, maybe she was having a bad day. We had several items to drop off. We had several sports coats, suits and dresses. While handing them over and itemizing what we were handing her: "3 sports coats." she promptly interrupted and corrected us: "It's a jacket." (Or "You mean jackets.") Um. Yes, it IS a jacket. It is also widely known as a sports coat. You'd think someone in her industry would know that, but w/e. Ok, Fine, maybe she is having a bad day. Went on to several other items. We pointed out a couple of light sweat stains on some shirts and she made a note about them. We asked her: "Out of curiosity, do you do the dry cleaning here or off-site somewhere?" She said they use natural chemicals on site that are non-toxic. Oh cool! We said, better for the environment! When I was doing a final count to make note how many of each clothing type we were leaving with her, she corrected me again when I said sports coats (while counting to myself). That's just rude. Fast forward a week, and we go to pick up our dry cleaning, and the shirts all still had stains on them. They didn't even appear to have been cleaned it all, merely ironed or pressed. We pointed this out to her, and she seemed irritated that we were pointing this out to her, and she said it's because they use natural, less harsh chemicals, that's why the stains didnt come out. She said that they would wash them again and see if they would come out. Another week later, and of course the stains did come out, no problem, because they apparently weren't even cleaned the first time. So we won't be going back here. For the record, we are incredibly polite and kind customers, always friendly and sweet, but the owner was just brusque and unkind. Surprised they have such high reviews, the other dry cleaners in town must really suck. read more

Writing a review for this place is long overdue! I began coming here last year, and I believe it's a couple that runs the place but the customer service from both of them is impeccable. They are both SO friendly it is truly a pleasure every time I come in. All my items come back in better shape than I left them, and they manage to get out even the worst stains. I will never come back here. I brought in shorts that were supposed to be dry clean only and I got them back with a stain. I tried to talk to them about it and they wouldn't even listen to me.
