Awesome experience! Anthony was clean, professional, and reasonably priced. Definitely would recommend this shop!

For Peter who did an awesome job on my first tattoo. I heard about this place from a coworker of mine. She showed me the art Pete did for her sleeve. Her tattoo was absolutely beautiful. She said that Pete was super chill and made her feel very comfortable. I then looked this place up on yelp and saw every review with all 5 stars. I had to check this place out. First thing I noticed was that the place was very clean. Pete was listening to some chill playlist on Pandora. We got to talking and I felt comfortable very quickly with this guy. Told him my idea about getting lyrics tattooed on my arm. He sat down and started writing out the lyrics in the font that we agreed upon. I was satisfied with what he did and the font we chose. A few minutes later he's setting up the place, laying out plastic everywhere, making sure everything was clean and sterilized. This guy is VERY sanitary! While he was drawing away on my arm, he kept me occupied by talking to me and playing my favorite music on Pandora over the speakers. Truly an unexpected and pleasant first tattoo experience. To make a long story short, Peter is an awesome guy and a very fine artist. I will be going back for my next tattoo. read more

I got my first tattoo from Shawn about a week and a half ago. I was nervous because it was my first tattoo but he helped me feel completely at ease. He and the other guys in the shop created a wonderful atmosphere and eventually I found myself laughing and not being nervous anymore. I had a great time and I can now say that I'd definitely go back there to get another tattoo from Shawn. He designed the tattoo based on what I told him and I am absolutely thrilled with his work!!! When I saw the tattoo he had designed for me, it was way better than what I'd imagined. Shawn's a very talented artist and the tattoo has received numerous compliments already. They keep a very clean shop as well. The tattoo healed up beautifully within a few days. Shawn also did a great job on the tattoo as it is completely smooth to the touch. No scarring whatsoever can be felt. Can I please give this guy six stars or more? Five is just not enough. He deserves the extra stars! Thanks, Shawn! =) I really love the tattoo! read more

PETER ROCKS!!!!! All the guys here do but I have to give a special shout out to my artist :-P The first tattoo I got done by Peter was on my back. He did an awesome job and made me feel very comfortable. He even told me Mitch Hedburg jokes when the music stopped working for a little bit! I also got the top of my foot done. I was a little nervous but he powered through it while making sure I was comfortable and it looks AMAZING. I can't wait to go back for my next one. I love the atmosphere in the shop. Everyone is so chill and you can tell they all have such passion for their art. read more

My daughter and I are out here visiting the college she's starting in the fall, I wanted to get her a tattoo that would be her touchstone so far away from home. After reading all the YELP reviews, I contacted Anthony about my idea and he did a terrific job. He's personable and caring and the shop is super clean. I know she will be in good hands if she decides to get another! read more

If you're looking for a place to get a tattoo, stop your search and go to Berkeley Tattoo. This was my first tattoo, and Peter was incredible! I stopped in the day before to talk about some design ideas, and when I came the day-of, he had sketched out a great design and made the small adjustments that I wanted on site. His work is beautiful, clean, and healed fast & easy. But here's what really does it for me... a tattoo is something you have on your body forever. And sure, there are a ton of badass tattoo artists out there who are fantastic at their job. But when getting something permanent on my body, I really appreciated that the person giving me the tattoo is a genuinely fantastic human. And that he, Shawn, and the other guys at Berkeley Tattoo made me feel super comfortable and welcome throughout the whole process. Cannot recommend them enough! If I ever get another, this is the only shop I'll go to. read more

First found this place because of the logo being celtic, and at the time my boyfriend was looking to get a celtic cross done so it was a perfect fit for him. Then after his second tattoo here my step dad and mom got a few pieces done here. Finally once I knew what I wanted I met with Shawn to talk about a back piece I had in mind. Just got the first session done a week ago and I love it! It has surpassed my expectations and Shawns artistic creativity is really giving this tattoo more life than I had been able to think up. the shop is clean and the guys who work there are all chill and make you feel comfortable both in the chair and right when you walk in. read more

All I can say is I can't stop staring at my back in the mirror! Went to see Keene yesterday, & although I was late for my appointment, he got started right away after confirming with me that he had created just what I had in mind. I found a drawing that I wanted & told him I wanted to incorporate my mother's signature & dates somehow. I let him know what colors I'd like as well. He showed me the line drawing with shading & everything... I can't believe how awesome it turned out! He was attentive to me, making sure I was ok from the first line to the last coloring. Since this is my first tatt, I'm happy to know that I was in good hands. And all the guys at the shop are very friendly too! I highly recommend Keene! Thanks for the awesome work man! read more

I walked in on an early Monday afternoon and was greeted very well. It's been 10 years since I got my one and only tattoo. It needed some love! Anthony was more than willing to sit down and get it done right that day. He was very good about discussing what I wanted, price upfront, and timeline. I also decided to get a simple script on my ribs while I was at it. It was a very chill, clean, and comfy parlor. Simple job that was taken seriously, thanks Anthony! read more

My cousin and I were calling all over town to find a shop with time for two walk ins. We called BTP and they were friendly, helpful, and willing to take us both, almost immediately. Anthony did an amazing job with the tattoo I got behind my ear, making sure I was comfortable. And Keene did some beautiful linework for my cousin. Everyone in the shop was so nice and conversational. I would definitely recommend! read more

Came here to get a new, small tattoo (and fix an existing one) over a week ago. Keene was patient, thoughtful, and clearly very skilled. He gave me excellent advice regarding placement and design, and kept my concerns and expectations into account at all times. I felt very comfortable working with him both on my new tattoo and on the challenging cover-up. I would definitely recommend him, and this studio. Good vibes, experienced artists, and welcoming all around. read more

This place is great. I walked in to make an appointment and was greeted immediately by Peter, who was very professional and friendly. Before the appointment, I emailed my image to him and he quickly replied. When I arrived a week later, he had the image ready. He was great about helping me adjust the size and location before starting work, and he had the room heated and comfortable. He's a good conversationalist (which is helpful when you're sitting for 3 hours or so) with a steady hand, and he offers free touch-ups. I love the work he did. read more

Berkeley Tattoo Parlour - Angel tattoo for my daughter, Seraphine - Tattoo Near Me - Berkeley, California

just for customer service. I spent HOURS one day researching the tattoo shops in the area, as I had just moved to Emeryville and searched Oakland and Berkeley for the perfect place. I have a TERRIBLE tattoo I got from the first and cheapest place I could find the week I turned eightteen that I wanted to cover up with a *huge* Vanellope VonSchweetz, from Wreck It Ralph. I wanted her adorned with misc. candy and videogame references that are all OVER the movie. I was in love. Shop after shop thought I was nuts, treated me like they were elitist pricks for having few tattoo (none of which show) and I look like an 'odd type' to walk into a tattoo place. That, or they quoted me STUPID prices, or said things like 'Well, it'll take seven to eight hours. Probably twice.' Most said it wasn't even possible, or wanted to use a pose that I didn't like. I know it was hard, but there had to be someone who was as least willing to work with me. I found this WONDERFUL place. It was cool (temperature wise) and I didn't feel like the sweat was peeling my face off. Everyone was chill (including the guy getting tattooed on his SPINE) and was really into my tattoo idea. Anthony drew up the PERFECT Vanellope and all of her little friends and sweet candy pieces for the background. He came up with a really creative way to take the SuperNintendo controller that I wanted in there anyway, and since it's mostly black and grey, have that do most of my hideous coverup. Genius. He watched the movie again with his kid to get inspired and draw some more ideas. He had it pinned up against his projects board and I was so excited. I hope he still has the drawings. Life got hard and I lost my job and had to pull the money from my tattoo fund. One day I'll be back for it, Anthony! read more

Berkeley Tattoo Parlour - Laugh now cry later Mardi Gras masks done by Peter - Tattoo Near Me - Berkeley, California

I have been searching for over a year for somebody to do a portrait of my daughter hugging my dog. I have asked people, checked reviews of Bay Area shops and scoured websites for the best portfolios from tattoo artist that have portrait skills. When I came in to Berkeley Tattoo Parlour I met with Shawn and his confidence and demeanor (as well as his portfolio) put me a little at ease. I left him with a couple photos and explained what I wanted. I was still pretty nervous becuse this was a large piece with huge meaning to me. When I walked in a week later and saw the design he created from the 2 pics, I knew I had made the right choice. If you want a picture transferred to your body, Shawn is definitely the man for the job. On top of that, the cleanliness and welcoming atmosphere of the shop made this a top notch experience. I will definitely be back for more ink and I'm already referring all of my friends. This shop rocks! read more

This place is awesome! So, I came here for my seventh tattoo. Great vibe in the shop, not too big. The artist, Sean (I'm not sure how he spells it) is a really cool guy. He makes you feel comfortable right when you walk in the door. No attitude at all. He's super easy to work with too, no hassle and he takes his time to make sure that you walk out of there with the tattoo that you want. And the final product, while not yet healed (I got the tat like 6 hours ago) looks amazing. Sharp, clean lines and great work with the color. AND he beats the prices of the other shops in town, and he gave me a free shirt! A+! read more

Hey yelpers, look at his response to my review and tell me does that sound like a professional to you? Instead of admitting what he did and apologize, he sinks to name calling and avoiding the point that he changed our agreement in midstream. i was willing to pay the $100 but the additional punitive $100 after the fact of our agreement, not going to work. He just changed his response as to not sound like an idiot when he realized that Yelpers are reading my review. I would avoid this guy at all cost. Great service. I've gotten two tattoos from Anthony and they're perfect! Definitely going back for more

I wrote Shawn a three page email about a dream I had that was inspired by a painting on the wall I used to stare at while lying in bed. Shawn took that email and flawlessly projected the image from my head and onto my leg. There's a reason every single one of my friend and I all go to Shawn for work and to the tattoo parlour just to enjoy the amazing vibe , from the zen garden full of banzai to the farmstead outback. This is how it's supposed to feel when you're sitting down discussing artwork that you're going to carry with you the rest of your life. I flaked last appointment so I owe the whole crew cheeseboard but ill be back to scratch peters beard and run Shawn's belly then get to work and finish my leg before we get onto the next mind numbing creation. These guys will take your dreams and turn them into a reality you'll enjoy forever. All the love I have to give - vortex Matt ! read more
