Grabbed caffeine for the drive back after lunching up the street at Busy Bee Cafe. I was definitely charmed by this local little shop. It's easy to miss from the outside, but totally worth a visit! The inside is dimly lit, cool, and comfortable. It's not a huge space but arrayed such that one could easily have enough room between themselves and other patrons if privacy was desired. They have lots of super cute knick knacks and an impressive selection of teas. They also have a stage for open mic nights or small musical acts. Seems like a cool space to hang out! Service was the best part. The woman who took my order welcomed me in, helped me select a beverage, and made polite conversation with me while she prepared my drink. She was just so warm, welcoming, affirming, and kind. I felt right at home. Somewhat embarrassingly, I'm far enough removed from the experience that I don't remember exactly what I got. I asked the employee what her favorite specialty drink was and ordered that. In my head, I believe it was something involving cinnamon and white chocolate, but I'm not positive. At any rate, it was a solid drink. I do remember the white chocolate element having a slightly chemical-y aftertaste, which is unfortunately common with white chocolate syrups - or so I feel. Still, it was a solid enough drink that I liked. I'd like to try other menu offerings in the future if the opportunity arises. As soon as I walked in the building with my service dog I was immediately barked at and told to "Get her out of here". I felt attacked and I will obviously never be giving my business to this establishment ever again. They are extremely rude. And even demanded to know what my service dog is for which I legally am allowed to not have to answer that question but he demanded. It was embarrassing and frustrating. I would never recommend this business to anyone there are better coffee shops anyways. read more

In the spirit of say-something-nice: "Berkeley Bob's" is clean. And their coffee is ok. I'm painfully familiar with the type of coffee shop they are trying to emulate. There wasn't a single dread-locked lesbian in a tank top to serve me my coffee, nor was there anyone passed out at a corner table. There was no bulletin board packed full of lost-dog/ cat, Food-Not-Bombs, and used car fliers. And there was no stink of coffee being roasted or brewed. In short, I would say that Berkeley Bob's falls short of what they hope to achieve. Unless, of course, what they want to achieve is just a coffee shop with some funky curios placed with some form of precision, in which case they did it well. read more

I also bought one if the Gheraldi Chocolate brownies; slightly crisped outside, literally melted in my mouth. That's what I call amazing texture juxtaposition! Aweozme local coffee joint!! Wifi worked well and was able to get all of my work done. I came on the night when there was "open mic". It was interesting to say the least! My husband and I are currently visiting my inlaws. I asked for a good coffee shop and was directed her by my father in law who sometimes plays the open mic nights. Make sure that if you're in town you go and try the Milky Way coffee. Normally I drink black coffee but I'm waiting on my second one now. The muffin I had yesterday tasted like my grandmothers and my husbands breakfast burrito was great! Will definitely be back the next time we are in town!! read more

We really like this place and the owner. Make certain you understand it's a coffee shop. Also know that it is one of the only places, actually it's the only place in Cullman that's truly somewhat "hippy!" This may be due to the fact that the owner lived on the West Coast and in Oregon for a while at least. These are great people who seem to support the community. The people who go, especially in the evening, seem to have a family "known each other forever feel" and are friendly. Our experience here has been warm and inviting. Incredible atmosphere with very chill employees which only adds to the ambience of this very unique stop. The coffee is fabulous though a little pricey. Better than Starbucks at least and there is a very good chance that you can score and live musicians will be playing. If there isn't and you see an instrument you can play then strut your stuff! The coffee and desserts are all great including their cotton candy drink which so scratches my sweet tooth. The barista was great, the coffee was good but someone should take the mic away from the musician. If the barista cannot hear you to take your order, there's no way to sit, concentrate, or get any work done! I love music but loud in a coffee shop is intrusive! read more

My friend brought me to Berkeley Bob's, it's her favorite and I can see why. It's a taste of The Bay (my home) in the the middle of the South. So refreshing to step foot in this cafe and know that you can relax and drink some good coffee. The employees really know their stuff and are very friendly. Great coffee, friendly staff, and prompt service. I always order the Milky Way or the Almost Blondie. Both are delicious.
