Cullman is sort of known for baked goods so I wanted to stop and get a few pastries before we headed home. This place had good reviews and was next door to a coffee shop, so double win! Very cute little bakery inside. Nice places to sit, cute old timey knickknacks and baking relics -- my mom got a huge kick out of the old KitchenAid mixers. Even though it was later in the afternoon, they had a decent selection of desserts. A friendly employee greeted us immediately and was helpful with checkout and bagging. I chose a smaller orange roll based on the recommendation of lots of reviewers, as well as something a bit more unique to me: a sweet potato and pecan muffin. Somewhat unusual combination that sounded super good! I split my treats with husband later that evening. The orange roll was solid -- the soft and yeasty roll was the best part -- though for me the orange glaze was a little too sweet. That's how I usually feel about orange rolls though so if you really love them you'll probably like this one! The muffin remained remarkably moist and the pecans were so nice and toasty on top. It was very subtly sweet and had lots of nice spices. Would love to try more muffins from here! Thanks for the yummy treats! This place is absolutely the best Bakery around. We live in South Alabama, and we must stop there every time we are coming through the area when I bring groups this way they beg me to stop because there's nothing like their orange rolls, cinnamon rolls, and muffins. If you are anywhere in the area you must stop in and get the orange rolls. I can guarantee you've never tasted anything like it. I will never go through this area without stopping to get some and we usually buy several and use a food saver to preserve them to keep them home and keep some in the freezer. They have other delicious items as well including coffee but the orange rolls are the bomb. read more

So we stopped here last week for the orange rolls but ended up with quite the variety of things. Took 2 gluten-free chocolate cupcakes home to daughter who loved them. That's very high praise as she has been searching for nearly a year (since she developed the wheat allergy) for the perfect GF chocolate cupcake. This is it! I just had the most delicious cupcake of my life. We had lunch on first Ave and what drew me into Flavors was a sign outside touting strawberries being back. I usually don't like cupcakes, as most taste artificial, lack flavor and are way, waaayyyy too sweet. When we entered "Flavors" we were greeted by which I would assume was they very friendly owner, she was in the middle of making cookies. I myself am an avid hobby cook/baker and only use fresh ingredients and real stuff, so when the lady told me that all ingredients are real and fresh and everything is made from scratch I was up for anything really. I immediately chose a strawberry cupcake with a cream cheese icing, my little daughter had the vanilla cupcake with vanilla icing, and we also bought two cookies (one dark chocolate and one snickerdoodle). We took everything to go thinking we'd eat it later since we were still full from lunch minutes earlier, so when we got in the car I wanted to nibble just a little to get a taste and BAM!! I could NOT stop! The cupcake was strawberry heaven, flavored so well, denser in the crumb with visible strawberry pieces, tasting so pure and delicious, complemented by the smoothest and tastiest cream cheese icing I have ever had. I didn't share my cupcake, just couldn't, I'm greedy that way lol. But when I started eating everyone ate their treat as well and they were just as happy. Great place. Everything is made from scratch and fresh. The coffee is delicious and inexpensive. I've been in several times this summer and found sliced strawberry shortcake rolls and home-made ice cream alongside the regular bakery items like cupcakes, cookies, and orange rolls. Excellent food, clean and relaxing environment, great people. The only downside is they close at 3 or 4 in the afternoon, depending on the time of year. The warehouse district generally closes up between 5 and 6, which is typical of small Cullman businesses. Make a point of stopping by, you won't regret it! read more
