It's not easy finding a decent, trustworthy mechanic, but these guys fit the bill, and Cruz is not only super knowledgeable, but he also has integrity and knows how to treat customers. I've been taking my car here since moving to Camarillo three years ago and even followed them to a new location. Luckily, all of my repairs are manageable because the 2003 Toyota Camry I drive is the most reliable car I have ever owned. They go that extra mile so to speak, taking me to and from my house if the car needs to be in the shop for several hours since I live close by. DO NOT TRUST THIS BUSINESS! I took me car for a simple sunroof repair and I have never seen such dishonest and I professional service before. To start they claimed my repairs should not be a problem and completed same day. No calls, no updates and by 5 pm I call to learn they need more time. By 730 the service technicians tell me that they are going to BS me anymore and they can't figure it out. Took my car back to go to dealership. After inspection the dealership tells me that Bergin's broke multiple parts and stained my roof liner beyond repair. I went back to Bergin's for compensation only to find out they are calling me a liar trying to blackmail them. Save yourself the stress, money and worry and choose ANYWHERE else. read more

Made what I thought was an appointment with Tim for a simple oil change for a low end Mercedes. I arrived at the agreed upon time of 8:30 am. Tim is not at work. Nobody knows about my appointment. After numerous phone calls, my simple oil change was FINALLY finished at 3:30 pm in the afternoon. I had to take the vehicle to the Mercedes dealership to have the service light reset ($110 charge) because Bergin's did not have the tool to do this. I have no idea why Bergin's would attempt to do a service on a Mercedes when they knew nothing about completing the service properly. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. Awesome work done by Tim and his team to get my 2011 Subaru Outback back on the road with a used transmission. The transmission was about $5k but Bergins charged me less than what many other shops wanted to charge. Dealer wanted 8k and Meineke quoted 8.5K! DON'T USE THIS PLACE. Its being ran by a young guy named Tim. Very unprofessional. They are not open at thier posted times. You bring your car they don't give you a rough estimate on price. They work in your vehicle then call you and give you a list of things they say you need. My car was done they never called me to say it was completed. They did work on my car that I did not ask for and tried to charge me for it. Talked to Tim and asked to check my brakes and suspension. Tim said they did. Actually talk to mechanic that worked on my car. He never did. Don't waste your time. At least do your self favor get quotes from other mechanics before you use them. read more

Due to the sometimes unpredictable nature of car repairs, I've waited almost six months before writing this review. My SC400 still runs well after Bergin's repaired the cooling system and ignition. My radiator had blown up on the road, and Floyd at Bergin's did a great job explaining what needed to be done. Prices were fair, service was honest, and they never pushed me to do more work than needed. I took my car in to Bergin's for an inspection to find out why it was shutting off. And I have to say Incredible service overall. They listened to what I had to say and gave me all the information in a way I could understand so I could make the right choices in how to take care of the problem. I've always worried about where I take my car because as a women I get taken advantage due to my lack of knowledge on cars but as soon as I walked in I knew I would be taken care of. I ended up needing a new battery and they installed it that same hour. The customer service was beyond amazing, they gave me a complementary ride to work and back. In total It took about 2-3 hours so they work fast to get you going. I will be coming here for all my automotive needs thank you so much. read more

I purchased a '97 Dodge Ram truck. It's old but runs pretty well. I heard a noise that didn't sound right and took it to Bergin's. They were able to diagnose the issue immediately. Turned out to be a brake issue. They quoted me a price, which seemed very reasonable. I brought the truck first thing in the morning. They had it ready by early afternoon. The price was lower than the estimate. My parents and sister have also taken their vehicles to Bergin's over the years. They've always received great service. Terrible experience. Was quoted 2.5 hours to do rear axle replacements on my 1979 jeep cj7. Was told to bring on Friday as they were busy. Towed the jeep Friday afternoon and everyday I've been told it will be done the following day. We're on day 6 and so far jeep not finished and they even managed to destroy a brand new bearing that came in my Mosier axle kit. Now they have to get another one, which I'm hoping will be of the same quality. I live over an hour away so I called this morning, Thursday, to make sure jeep will be ready if I head out there. I was told yes at 9.45 am. Proceeded to get a ride and halfway I get a call saying the jeep is delayed until closing. Being that I cant trust what they say I turned around and wasted hours of driving. Hopefully they'll finish my 2.5 hour job within a week but not holding my breath at this point. I brought my vehicle in for transmission repair and talk to a man named Tim he told me he was just the mechanic but later to find out he was actually the owner and lying to me! I Brought in my vehicle on December 15 to have transmission rebuilt after the job was completed on 28 December exactly 2 weeks later I had the same exact issues happening with my vehicle I tried to bring my vehicle in but for some reason the shop was shut down, but I left my vehicle there. it took two days to get in contact with anybody at the shop by the time a man named Donovan reached out to me and said somebody will be taking a look at my vehicle and they will let me know what is wrong with it , next day Tim proceeded to call me and tell me that they messed up a seal in the transmission and that they would fix it.(he also told me that it could be due to another issue and if my car is messed up again to bring it back in) They also told me that they were going through renovations for inspection and would be opening up the shop again in one month and if I had any issues just to give them a call or a text in the meantime. my vehicle then started to experience the same issues as I first brought it in for and now I cannot get in contact with anybody at the shop I visited the shop earlier today and was told that it is going out of business and there is a new owner and it will be an entirely new company. I am now taking this to court and getting my money back for the job that was uncompleted. These people have literally taken my money and ran I would say do not ever go here but it's not like you can anyways...they don't exist! read more

This guy charges either $82 or $87 per hour for labor. He'll diagnose the issue, but that is the most I've seen for labor anywhere in the city. Not only that, but when I took my wife's car there, he fixed the problem, but then her speedometer 'toothpick' ended up on the other side of the stopping pin, making it impossible to determine her speed. When I asked her about it, the owners reply was, "sorry guy, can't help ya. You can't prove that it wasn't like that when you brought it in here." No way I'd go back. read more

Best shop in Camarillo! I broke down on the side of the freeway, engine overheating, coolant leaking on the ground and I was scared of the huge bill I thought would come. But when they checked out my car they told me the previous mechanic (from the dealership) had simply left the radiator cap loose causing me to loose coolant. Since nothing was wrong they decided to not charge me. I do not know a lot about cars so they could have told me anything and I would have trusted them. I've been a Bergins customer for close to a year now. I've had them do everything from routine maintenance on my wife's Jeep to a complete engine replacement on my old truck. They have always been friendly, honest and fair. When we rebuilt my engine, Joe and Floyd sat down with me and went over what had to be fixed and what could be reused without compromising its reliability. This place is only good if you have deep pockets and have no clue about your vehicle. I have a passion for automobiles and now I can only work on them when a get an opportunity. My Chev Tahoe runs great I had a check engine light that was on and I was due for a smog check. I could not locate my code reader so I took it to Bergins at approximately 8:00am and he made me aware that to do the diagnostic check was going to be approximately $100.00 and that will not got towards the repair( 1st sign of getting screwed). But I had to get my vehicle checked out, so I left it and he let me walk all the way home by Adolfo park, nice customer service. They didn't even contact me for status on my vehicle I had to call them about 1 hour before closing. When I arrived I was told that I was going to require repairs totalling about $700.00. I was going to get the work done but before I accepted, I asked if I were to get the work done would it solve my vehicle problems? They replied we don't know that is just the starting point that will point us in the right direction. WOW!!!! What are diagnostic codes for then? So I paid my $100.00 rip off fees and left. I went to Amazon and bought a $25.00 diagnostics with bluetooth capability and downloaded a free app to my android phone. Plugged into my vehicle and I received the same codes that were listed on My Bergins receipt. The app guided me to a website that should me what sensor was bad and how to repair it. Again I went to Amazon and bought the original part for $19.00 and installed it, less than 10 min. I cleared the alarms a drove my vehicle for about 80 miles and no more check engine light. Took my vehicle for a smog check and passed. A few days ago I took my vehicle to a repair shop in Agoura I explained to them my situation and I told them that I wanted to run a diagnostics on my vehicle to confirm my suspicions. Every thing checked out fine and my vehicle still runs great. I do all of the repairs on my vehicles, I just don't get much time any more. I was just looking for a true honest repair shop. I know repairs are not cheap and labor is expensive, but you have to be kidding I spent more on a diagnostics at Bergins and mechanic was still not sure if that was going to fix the issue than buying the tool , parts needed and getting confirmation of repair. What was real bad he made walk home and didn't call me when he said he would. It is real hard to find and honest repair shop. If I ever do end up having deep and very deep pockets and not care about service then I just might come back. read more

Our Camry's engine splash shield lost some clips. I called Bergin's and they said come on by. It took them less than 15 minutes to remove our jury rigging holding the shield up and replace the clips. Bergin's was the only place that made room for me...I told them I would be driving back to school (up North) so they double check my breaks and fluid for no extra charge! And they got me in and out of there in less then an hour (on a Tuesday)... On top of that they are all super personable people that actual care about engaging in conversation with you... I was talking to him about school and that i am interested in getting a motorcycle and Joe gave me all this extremely valuable advice and even pulled up some bikes online to check out! It was so great and much appreciated!!! With all that said... I came back home to visit and brought my car back here... Once again amazing service they remembered me from the first time I came in and asked if I had gotten a bike yet... And had me in and out in 30 minutes again... I feel like I have definitely found a primary automotive technician/mechanic!!! An ad in Happenings Magazine where a 1-day car care seminar for ladies was offered for free at Bergin's Automotive, was my initial introduction to them while residing in Thousand Oaks. I had to retire the car I owned then and never attended the seminar. Years later, now residing in Camarillo less than a mile from Bergin's, my 2007 PT Cruiser continued overheating after driving from a dealership in another city where a new thermostat had been installed. I decided to try Bergin's because I'd spoken to the owner years earlier about taking the seminar and his genuine interest to better inform female drivers about their cars & repairs resonated. Although disappointed to learn there was now a new owner, the seminar was no longer offered, and hesitant about the care quality I might receive--after two repairs I had a highly favorable experience at Bergin's Automotive. Initially, I was told the water pump was leaking and it and timing belt required replacing--it was. The car drove without overheating for 12 days, then the control panel alert sounded, check engine light lit, and it began to overheat again so I returned to Bergin's. Automotive tech, Sean, is very knowledgeable with years of experience that backs his work, is reflected in accurately diagnosing the repair and probabilities, as well as estimating the time for the work's completion. Service Manager, Cruz Pulido's, experience and knowledge of car maintenance was also evident in his being able to check the sensor to quickly determine it was the thermostat, then explaining that burping the system helps to ensure there are no air bubbles, etc. and system is flowing properly after a thermostat install. Closer inspection revealed the new thermostat, installed at a dealership which had my car for 8 days, had come apart and was in pieces. I was going to return to the dealership, but Mr. Pulido said 1) they didn't want me to drive all that way for a thermostat, 2) there would be no charge as they ordinarily might have included when the water pump and timing belt were replaced, 3) and emphasized their interest to get me back on the road as soon as possible. Two repairs completed on separate occasions, extending the consideration to replace the thermostat free of charge, get me back on the road, and Ivan's courtesy rides to/from home, demonstrated Bergin's sincerity, ethical integrity, commitment to superior service, and that the quality of their work is held in equal measure to customer consideration and satisfaction. I highly recommend the team at Bergin's and plan to return myself. read more
