What a bizarre experience. I came in to do a firearm transfer but was rudely turned away for being on my phone. The owner had called me couple times, but with two gentlemen (his friends I assume as they sat in the corner sipping from a cup) talking rather loudly in the corner, I could not hear him. Additionally, with my father recently hospitalized from a stroke, I was heavily invested in my phone waiting for updates on my father's health. However, the owner became aggressive, telling me that I was "typical" and to "get off my ****ing phone so that he could help me. My inattention certainly did not warrant cussing, racist comments, and denying of services from the owner. The owner called to me asking for the shipping address-- he didn't know what EXPWY meant. So I jokingly said, "I'm gonna need my phone for this one, let me look it up." He stopped what he was doing, turned to me and angrily yelled, "Oh you're a ****ing smart guy?" The owner lost his temper and began yelling "clean up your shit" and to "get the **** out of my store and find another FFL." Yikes! I certainly will find another FFL. **Also note that the owner is rather disgusting-- he smokes and ashes cigars inside his shop. Do yourself a favor and find another FFL. read more

If you don't like it, he wouldn't care in the least and you would be doing him a favor if you didn't come back. Don't misinterperate brutal honesty with rudness......unless you own a victim card. Went here because thought I would support a local dealer, but was I wrong. Owner sitting on his computer watching youtube videos smoking a nasty cigar full of smoke in the entire place. Very arrogant and unfriendly. Doesn't want to converse about anything except "what do you want?" When I asked why you don't accept credit card, he went on a small tyraid about credit card companies taking all money away and he'd be out of business if he accepted cards. Never coming back and giving my money to more expensive places that are more friendly. Don't waste your time. Gave an extra star only because ammo prices were not too bad, but not great. read more

Stay away. Incompetent owners. They transfer lower receivers incorrectly. They transfer them as "rifles" and not as "receivers". This is incorrect and also ILLEGAL. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. read more

I visited this store twice. The first time, the owner was polite and helpful. I was the only person in the store so maybe that's part of it. I wanted to support tiny businesses so I kept him in mind when I needed my Mossberg looked at even though he quoted me $125 over the price that you can get at Buds online. The second time was ridiculous. He was just being unnecessarily gruff. I explained the issue with my shotgun: the shells weren't feeding properly after a new spring and extension was installed. The owner tells me that my extension is "illegal but anyway . . . ." I explain to him that NJ law allows for a six-round magazine. You'd think that he'd know this because of his business. And I'm not sure why he didn't mind if he did think it was illegal. Then he stops helping me and goes to help the customer he was helping when I walked in. Then he stops that and comes back to me. He tells me that the problem that I was having wasn't possible. That's a strange thing to conclude considering the problem was indeed happening (and therefore more than possible). Then he went back to answer the phone, leaving me and the first customer waiting. Then it gets bizarre. He was frustrated that he couldn't resolve the problem. It should be pretty simple for a real gunsmith. Mossberg is probably the first or second most popular manufacturer for shotguns. He starts fidgeting with the shotgun with a lit cigar in his hands and keeps bouncing it on the sight. I ask him to be careful because the sight is cheap and he says that he can't help me if I don't let him touch the gun. Clearly he was finding a way to save face that he couldn't solve this simple problem (which would've been fine with me). Even this would've been ok but he became belligerent and hostile. I left the store and told him what I thought of his incompetence. He asked me to say it to his face (he must've been feeling brave because of the revolver in his hip). So I did. I walked back to his face and told him that he was inept. He said "that's your opinion!" I guess that was the best he could conjure. I left, amazed by his wit. This guy knows less about guns than he does about the relevant law. And even less about common decency. Judging by his store and it's dusty shelves, he's no business genius either. I went to GunforHire and got a real expert to inspect the shotgun. I'll still support small businesses, but just not this one. read more

I first called several shops locally and got the runaround and was treated poorly, then came across Bergen Sporting Goods where I was spoken to like a gentleman and treated with respect. This shop happened to be about an hour away but I took the ride because I had an extremely good vibe.
