Time to renew my passport, and I was told this is the best place to get it done! I arrived at the right time, and shortly after 10 more people came to get their passports as well! I was fortunate to have Elena help me with the process. She defied the stereotype of county/ government employees and worked in a swift and thorough fashion, and in addition was very pleasant! $209.53 later, the process was complete, and I'm now waiting 2-3 weeks for my new passport to arrive. I even got a handy dandy passport cover included in the deal! Should I still be in Bergen County 10 years from now, I'll be back! read more

After my nightmare experience at the post office I decided to come here as someone recommended it for passport services. This is the only place I found that did not require appointments (it is an option). The office opens at 8:30am. We arrived at 8:25 and the traffic to get into the parking garage looked crazy but it all moved smoothly and quickly. We were told to park on the 3rd or 4th floor. The elevators came fast. We walked through security quickly as there wasn't a line. The office was right next to the entrance. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We were in and out within 15 minutes. They also take passport photos at this location for only $10. I highly recommend this place for passports! read more

i gave it 4 stars only because of the ladies at the Clerk's office were so pleasant and so courteous despite the long lines. Today 8/10/17, I was there at 12p, the female security guard on duty explained to me that the lot was full and informed me that I need to park at the parking structure but when I said "how do I get in there?" she replied with a very condescending "I just told you, didn't you listen?". Even though I didn't clearly imply that will I need to pay, I don't think it was necessary for her to speak to me in that manner. I still smiled and bit my lip but her attitude is so so awful. She should intend to be more helpful instead of implying an insult that I was incapable of understanding direction. When I get to the parking structure, I overlooked the sign that says "take the ticket" while I was intending to ask the officer on duty who just yelled towards me "take the damn ticket", another unnecessary tone. Another awful awful, unnecessary attitude. Please address this. Again, the ladies at the Clerk's office, they were excellent and pleasant. But the parking officers on duty, they both have TERRIBLE TERRIBLE attitudes. read more

IRS had left a lien in place after it was satisfied. Trying to buy a house, the bank didn't like this. The IRS came through quickly with a letter, and Marla at the liens division took care of me. When I had to come back after receiving the letter, she even remembered my name. Very nice. read more

Very bad experience at this facility. I've applied for a renewal of my 14 year old son's passport. The young lady who tried to help me stated that she was in training and had to constantly go and ask others that were just having a coffee break. After paying the expedited fee, I've been notified that my son's passport application was not received by the National Passport Center until a month after I applied at this office. I have applied for mine on the same day and received it before the 4-6 weeks timeframe at that time. With all of this, it's been 9 weeks since we applied for my son's passport and we have not received yet. We were not able to travel on the date we had originally booked our trip for and lost $10,000 for our family vacation (Out of 5 family members, the only one who did not receive his passport was my son). I will not apply for any passport renewals at this location ever. The Passport Supervisor Liliana Otalvaro did not help at all and made up stories about receiving calls from other agencies I contacted to get help from but couldn't remember names or details on the calls she apparently received about my case. I needed a copy of a deed. I was directed to Room 105. While waiting, a very nice young lady went to get a gentleman to take care of my problem. I believe the man's name was Ken, but I could be mistaken. He looked up the records, printed out the copy I needed and gave them to me. Once I reached Room 105, it took less than 10 minutes to solve my problem. All in all, the experience was very pleasant read more

Needed a passport renewal and partner needed a new one quickly. Went online and discovered lots of commercial sites. Then printed from the gov site the documents, read the directions, filled out the paperwork, and drove over to the Bergen County Clerk's office -- brand new building in downtown Hackensack, near the courthouse. No lines, easy parking, extremely helpful service, and they take pictures for much less $ than commercial places. Plus, they aren't in a hurry, so they let you decide whether the picture is flattering enough! They actually corrected the problems our commercial pictures had, which would have prevented us from getting passports expedited. All in all, a pleasant experience, done within half an hour, and our pictures are even halfway flattering! The county government office is a thing of beauty. Thank you, John Hogan! read more
