I am a Beque Holic-oholic! I love coming here any chance I get! With the vast assortment of meats and side dishes offered, this please leaves little to be desired for carnivorous patrons. At first glance the menu may be confusing/overwhelming to those unfamiliar with this type of dining. But fear not because the servers are friendly and very informative and will spend a considerable amount of time explaining the menu and grilling techniques to you (if you need it). Service is usually very fast here. The side dishes come out almost immediately after ordering, followed pretty quickly by the raw meats of your choosing. You cook the meats on the grill in the center of the table, which is fun and engaging - much better than waiting on someone else to cook your food. The servers come around often to check on you, change the grill and bring more food! I am no stranger to Korean BBQ, I even spent a summer in South Korea so I was thrilled to find this gem in Gainesville. I love all of the different types of meats and side dishes offered here. The food is high quality and always very fresh. The beef bulgogi is probably my favorite menu item but everything here is delicious! It took me a few visits to figure out that I didn't actually need to get the All-you-can-eat option to leave completely full and satisfied. Two people can easily split one of the Combo Specials and not spend as much on the AYCE. If there is an item in the combo you don't want, they will let you make substitutions - just ask your server! This is one of the few places in town that my fiancé and I can always agree on, making it a natural choice for date night. The modern atmosphere and the tall comfortable booths also make for great date atmosphere. Even during busy nights, I've never had to wait more than 5-10 minutes to get a table. There is tons of seating here so reservations are are rarely necessary and they can accommodate large parties. I highly recommend Beque Holic! And if you are looking for an even more authentic Korean BBQ experience, make sure to order a couple bottles of Soju (Korean rice wine) to wash down your meal! Enjoy! read more

I came here with some work friends on a Friday night. There was a short 20 minute wait to get in because the place was busy. This was my first time eating Korean BBQ and it was a lot of fun. This type of Korean BBQ place is preferred to others where you pay for individual items off the menu. Here you choose either the B option (for $23) or Q option ($29) if you are going for the all-you-can-eat. The Q is definitely worth it considering all the different meats you can try. Everything was fresh and we enjoyed grilling it for ourselves at the table. The servers were friendly and helpful for first-timers. For Gainesville KBBQ, Beque Holic is great! If you're expecting KBBQ like you'd find in big cities, Beque doesn't quite get you there, but it'll satisfy you until then. Every time I go, we always opt for the all you can eat (AYCE) option. We usually go with option A as it contains our favorite meats. I've had option B before, but it didn't really seem worth the price increase for the other selections. My favorites to get are the pork belly and the brisket. If you're hangry, order the brisket first since it cooks quickly. I do not recommend the chicken as it becomes really dry after you grill it. If you've never been to a KBBQ place before, the meat is cooked on a grill at your table. Some places will cook it for you at your table, other places you cook it yourself and Beque is one of those places. The AYCE comes with several side dishes. My favorites are the steamed egg and the dumplings. From Monday - Saturday starting at 9 PM, they have happy hour AYCE for $20. It's essentially option A with all the sides except for the egg and the dumplings. Service is pretty good. They check on you every now and then to see if you need help cooking or if your grill is too charred they'll change it out for you. read more

First - Say "BQ" and now say "holic". The name is "BQ (for BBQ) holic" because they specialize in Korean barbecue dishes. Yes, they should use a simpler name - or spelling. Second - Who cares how they spell it. This is a clean restaurant (wave your hand by the motion detector to exit the bathrooms!). They offer top quality food (the owner was in the food business and knows the best local resources). We love their caring service (our server and restaurant manager escorted us out their door and wished us a safe trip as we left). The food - banchan - is a group of mostly vegetable dishes that compliment barbecued protein. Not only is each dish memorably delicious - you will think about them and want them again - they include things like pan fried dumplings and steamed egg that is like a riff on egg foo young except lighter and brighter. The server told us that the recipes are family recipes from people who grew up in Korea. From the owner on down, they are producing food from their hearts and childhood memories. We came here for Tom's birthday - having driven up from a small town with no nearby towns having decent restaurants, really. We ordered the bulgogi , a marinated beef dish, and stir fried veggies. We left with most of the veggies and about half of the meat. The banchan was so delicious that we ordered more of the jumbo daikon radish slices in wasabi water that we used as a taco wrapper for the meat. We visited Orlando and drove here for my recent birthday. It was where I wanted to celebrate! We stayed in a hotel overnight to be in Gainesville for my birthday celebration. We were jonesing for their food! This time we got the beef short ribs. Yes, they were marinated and I'm sure sugar (or Coca Cola) was involved. No, I don't eat like that usually. I've eaten at a lot of legit Korean joints. This is NOT one of them. They have electric grills at each table. Wish they put out a bit more heat. Cooking was slow, but hey, that slows you down on a all-you-can-eat. They price everything so you move to the all-you-can-eat. That should have been the warning sign. The prices look like a quality Korean place. Korean BBQ is about the meat. Here, the meat is pretty meh. The brisket is frozen shaved, like a Mongolian bbq, not a Korean one. It's sinfully bland. The dipping sauces can't make up for it, and that not the way that they peddle brisket at more legit joints. The bulgolgi, marinated meats, are cut in this minced mess which suggests that the tough cheap cut they they're using, which shows up in the bigger pieces, I could not be served in the bigger pieces of luscious meat these are normally what you get. The banchan, the little side dishes served, are a mixed bag. The kimchi is great. The other sides run from the cheap to the uninspired. The gyeranjjim, the steamed eggs, were probably the best thing that this kitchen turned out. The meal deal comes with some very un-Korean miso soup and micro dumplings. Very pretty place. A for ambiance. Service was exceptional, as was the cleanliness. Parking is good. COVID safety is bring practiced. This was one of the rare places where hand sanitizer was readily available. If you can't tell the difference between super model Cindy Crawford, and Earl Crawford, my 350 lb plumber, then you'll love this place. Parking is ample. Probably, for Gainesville, a four star night. If you are a meat lover, it's a feast. It's a good environment to relax and munch meat and chit chat. A group with more than 4 is not recommended. Considering the size of the grill, it's easier to enjoy in a smaller group. It's about 30 per person for a good all you can eat combo, I only go when I crave meat. I usually get AYCE Combo B and a beer. Pork belly and any kind of beef is recommended. Not a fan of squid however. Chicken wings are interestingly small. Appetizers are delicious too. This is my favorite restaurant in town for a special occasion or event. The price is on the high side for AYCE options but if you're a big eater like myself, you won't be disappointed. There is a wide variety of meat and side options for everyone. The restaurant itself is very clean and I have only ever had positive experiences with staff members. Their COVID menu is smaller than before, and it only offers 1 AYCE option as opposed to 3 different tiers that were previously offered. I personally enjoy the spicy pork belly, beef brisket (with some the sesame oil/salt), and BQ beef bulgogi most off of the AYCE menu. I tend to stick with the beef and pork options because I've never thought the chicken options were worth the time and stomach space. Also, make sure to order the dumplings! We always end up getting multiple plates of them. My only real complaint is that with the new COVID menu, there is no option for any kalbi if you're ordering AYCE. In Gainesville for 3 weeks on business and have been eating like a KING. My co-worker mentioned "Korean BBQ" to me and I would have like to think that I've had it before... but I was wrong. So here's how it went! Atmosphere/Appearance: The outside is super modern with a big brick exterior, bright signage and of course, an awesome private parking lot! No meters or street parking to worry about here! Inside was just as nice. The restaurant is filled with booths and each table has a grill located right in the middle. Colorful lights decorate the interior while upbeat music keeps the mood alive. Another highlight for me was the hands-free bathroom door! You wave your hand in front of sensor and it opens right up! No need to touch the dirty handle! Service: I can't remember the gentleman's name, but he was awesome. Taller, stockier Asian gentleman took great care of us. He really broke things down to me and gave me great advice for how to do things for the first time. I appreciated him. He was there when we needed more water or more refills on anything at all. Food: Now for the good stuff! So there's a good, better and best solution to doing the all you can eat portion. All the options are served with a steamed egg, white rice, bean sprouts, pickled ginger, garden salad, rice noodles, miso soup, a sort of potato textured dish, several other side dishes (that I can't remember the name of but check out my pictures) and you can even have the option of adding sanuki uden, fried dumplings or soybean soup to the table at no extra charge, they just don't bring these things out initially because the table can already be crowded. So for the "good", "AYCE A", you get a choice of BBQ Pork Belly, BBQ Brisket, Teriyaki Chicken, Spicy Chicken or Seasoned Squid. You can only choose 2 meats at a time to be brought out raw to cook on your table, but you can switch them up each round. For the "better" "AYCE B" your meat choices get upgraded to the first 5 mentioned along with BBQ Bulgogi, BBQ Pork Bulgogi, Chicken Wings and BBQ Seasoned Short Rib. Last, but not least, for the "best" option the "AYCE C" includes the first 9 meat choices along with LA Kalbi and BBQ Tongue. I was feeling cheap so I stuck with the "AYCE A". It seemed like PLENTY of food for me. Everything was absolutely delicious. I don't feel like addressing each and every single thing that was on the table, but I LOVED mixing my steamed egg with the white rice and pouring their chili sauce all over it. The beef brisket was also my favorite meat just ahead of the pork belly. I left SO full and happy. Value: Fairly simple here. AYCE A = $23.95 AYCE B = $28.95 AYCE C = $33.95 Great value in my opinion. Way better than going to some Chinese buffet or something and I loved the idea of cooking your own food right on your own private grill. In conclusion I don't know why I haven't been to a Korean BBQ place before! I've totally been missing out! I can't wait to come back and try some other meats out! Let me start by saying, I don't live in Gainesville, I have NO ties here either. I live in Jacksonville and almost all of our kbbq places are closed for the summer(I swear this all ties into the review). I found this place and my boyfriend said we'd have to go on a trip to try it. A week later, we had a hotel booked and we came over to Gainesville to literally just try this restaurant. And it was worth EVERY penny. If I could somehow beg the owners to move it to Jacksonville I would. The meat quality is amazing, the banchans are addicting and this may be odd, but the lettuce in the salad and for the wraps were so FRESH and crunchy. For me the meat is important but the vegetables make the meal and they definitely did not disappoint. I don't think I've ever fallen in love with somewhere so quickly. The staff is mainly composed of students, and they all work very diligently to ensure quality service. They explain all of the options, side dishes, and are constantly checking on tables. The meat is freshly cut when you order, and the waiters will offer to change your grill for the best grilling experience. They give you an abundance of side dishes, including kimchi, picked radish, lettuce wraps, steamed egg, etc. Although some of these are excluded from the happy hour option, there are still enough side dishes to satisfy your meal. The service was excellent, and the hosts and waiters were charismatic and always checking on us to make sure we got what we needed. We got option A, and for our choice of meats, we went with brisket, spicy chicken, and teriyaki chicken to start off with. The only gripe I would have with this place would be the price. My friends and I came here for the first time about a few weeks ago, and we loved it. We had to wait about 30 minutes with our reservation to get the table for our big party. A lot of my friends tell me that making a reservation for this place is recommended. When we came, there were about 2-3 other parties waiting for a table, but I'm not sure if they had reservations. We came for the all-you-can-eat Kbbq menu. They have three types: Ayce A (BQ belly, BQ brisket, teriyaki chicken, spicy chicken, and season squid), Ayce B (BQ Belly, BQ brisket, teriyaki chicken, spicy chicken, seasoned squid, BQ bulgogi, BQ pork bulgogi, chicken wings, and BQ seasoned short ribs), and Ayce C (BQ belly, BQ brisket, teriyaki chicken, spicy chicken, seasoned squid, BQ bulgogi, BQ pork bulgogi, chicken wings, BQ seasoned short rubs, LA kalbi, and BQ tongue). We got Ayce B and the all-you-can-eat sides, which included radish, veggies, rice, and vegetable gyozas. The meat was thick and juicy. Certain meats weren't seasoned, but were given a lot of sauces like the house sauce, some kind of steak sauce, and sriracha. There are probably more sauces that we didn't ask for. My favorites were the BQ brisket, the teriyaki chicken, and the vegetable gyozas (which I'm pretty sure we ordered a total of 7 gyoza plates). "Bee Que -holic" like an addict of BBQ not like an obscure Korean phrase. I felt so silly. But this place is SPECTACULAR. We were going to be in Gainesville just for the day, and since there's no fancy Korean food in Tallahassee, we wanted to get some. This place was off the charts! I wasn't sold on cooking my own food at the table at first, but it really was fun and they show you what to do and how to do it. They explained everything very well. We got combo a for two, there was so much food it was ridiculous. The wasabi radish pickle was to die for I probably could've eaten 30 of those. My fav was the beef short rib, the boolgogi was good but a little bit too sweet for me. All in all an amazing experience, very friendly people, great ambience, excellent service and a generally fun time. I think this is the only Korean BBQ restaurant in Gainesville (that I am aware of) and it is very good. There's fancier places with more options but this place is simple and good and I have had so many great times and experiences here. The AYCE is fairly priced. I usually come during happy hour so I believe that was $20 per person for the basic package which includes teriyaki chicken, spicy chicken, brisket, and pork belly. Honestly, the pork belly and brisket alone makes it worth it. Easy to cook and packed with flavor. I usually coat it in salt or soy sauce before I cook it to give a little more flavor but cooking it plain and putting it in a mix of sesame oil, salt and black pepper is another delicious option. I will say, I wish they had more options as a lot of KBBQ restaurants do AYCE with all the meats and many additional sides for $25-$30 but it's still a great option for KBBQ nonetheless. read more

It's so hard for me to not compare other kbbq restaurants to Beque Holic because Beque's service and quality keep my standards high. 1) Price point: AYCE kbbq is not a cheap meal, but at Beque I think it's reasonably priced. The most basic AYCE option (A) is $25 and has everything you need--brisket, pork belly, other meats, and a wide variety of side dishes (more side dishes than I've seen at other restaurants). If you go during happy hour, option A costs $20 (it includes less meats but, honestly, all you really need is brisket and pork belly anyway and it's still AYCE so I don't see the problem...). Beque also offers good deals, like BOGO soju cocktails during certain hours and a free AYCE option on your birthday when you bring three other people to dine with you. 2) Quality of food: high. Sometimes I go to other kbbq restaurants and think, "Wow, the meat doesn't taste as good and fresh as Beque's." The meat also isn't as fatty at Beque. The side dishes are abundant and pair well with the meats. They include sweet potato, broccoli, kimchi, bean sprouts, wasabi radishes, side salad, miso soup, and many more. 3) Service: overall, service is really good and friendly, but if you go at a busy time, of course you'll need to be patient and understanding. 4) Interior: super clean, lots of seating, big tables (can fit 5-7 people), only one private room that accommodates large parties. Beque is a great choice for any occasion/celebration--graduation dinners, date nights, birthdays, reunions, or maybe you and some friends are really hungry and want massive amounts of food. Go to Beque on your birthday, friend's birthday, family's birthday, because they have great deals for that. Their meat is not the best quality, but it will suffice.
