Well maybe this place will be better later in life but I'm not one that will set foot in the place again EVER!. It was the anniversary for my wife and I and my wife want to try something different so we chose this spot. First we walked it and it took a while before we were even greeted. We stood at the front not knowing whether to walk in and seat ourselves of wait but we waited. Someone did finally come and sit us. We sat down for the meal and were served our drinks and the soda tasted off from what we have tasted so passed on that. Then the table we were at wasn't working the middle where you cook your own feed wouldn't start up so we were moved to a different seat. Oh yes and after all this we finally got to try the food. I ate 2 bites of chicken and it didn't taste right and it lacked flavor. I didn't eat another bite and my wife ate 3 bites and had enough...all the food to waste. After we complained to the manager and we were made to pay for a whole meal we didn't eat and pay for drinks that tasted off and complained about. I was so upset. The manager apologized numerous times and gave us a 10 percent off or something like that card for next visit and apologized again that he couldn't do more cause the owner manager wasn't there. He asked us to come again. I don't get it how they can be in business with service like that and food that lacks in flavor. So if you want all you can eat hey its the place for you but don't expect much. Sure this place has got some good reviews and glad people have enjoyed it but I will never set foot in this place again due to being the worst eating experience I ever had and worst of all had to pay for. read more

The food is incredible here, the meat is super fresh and it's a really fun experience. The only reason I'm not giving it a 5 is because in order for one person at the table to get BBQ everyone needs to, and with larger groups this can cause trouble if there is disagreement. My only advice is come REALLY hungry cause you will eat tons! read more

This place was delicious, unique (for Gainesville) and fun. Go here on a first date, a fun occasion with a significant other, or in a group. It's a bit pricey for our pleb town, but well worth it. First off, the hostess was charming and the waiter was on point. He described the cooking process, the tastes to be expected, and offered his recommendations when asked. I've never liked Kimchi at other Korean places- but the several variations they gave us were quite good. The meat was tender and tasty and the process of cooking it at the table was entertainment in itself. There are few places in Gainesville where one can go and have a spread of various tastes- I sincerely hope this place takes off so it stays for a very long time. If I could offer the restaurant any advice it would be to cook the squid in a neutral sauce. The squid was delicious but my dining partner would have preferred to dip it in one of your terrific sauces your provided, instead of the one it was marinated in. read more

I took my son here at his request. The name of the place has kept me from trying it. I really dislike the name. I was surprised at how nice it was inside, but very slow... maybe 8 tables in use at dinner time on a Sunday. My son got AYCE and he cooked up beef, chicken, pork, then more beef. I am a vegetarian and there was NOTHING for me on the menu at all. The manager said I didn't have to purchase the AYCE as the menu stated since I don't eat meat. I ordered veggie tempura. My food never came to the table, so I ate the sides my son didn't want. The daikon radish in wasabi sauce was fabulous. Most sides were decent. When I mentioned my food never showing up they were so nice about it and I told them never mind, cuz I was full actually. Then I realized my son was only charged $9.99 for his AYCE meal! The menu said $23.95. So for the amount of food he ate and that price, I was ecstatic. Great service. read more

First and foremost, I am never one to leave a review on any establishment. As I am well aware that each establishment has their own pros and cons, good days and bad days, etc. However, the experience I had is one that warrants a review so other patrons can be aware of what they are walking into. I have been here before and I have always had a great experience. Therefore, I was not expecting this visit to be any different. I was wrong. The restaurant was not busy when my party and I arrived as we were seated immediately after walking in; which I assumed was a good sign. That was until I realized that my party and I were seated in the very back, next to the kitchen. I do not have a preference on seating when coming to a restaurant because I know that you are seated based on what table is available. But I found it odd that we were the only party that was seated in the very back. Why was it odd? I saw another party (with the same number of people as we had in our party) who walked in after us, being seated in a booth towards the front. And other open booths towards the front were available. Not to mention that the table we were seated at had very dim lighting and the grill still had remnants of left over meat from the party before us. When our waiter came to the table we asked if it was possible to sit at a booth instead. We never demanded another seating, nor did we specify which booth. We simply asked if we could be seated at a booth rather than a table in a kind manner. Our waiter then walked us to a booth. Why were we not seated here to begin with? I have no idea. I would like to mention that as we were following our waiter, I noticed that the manager and our waiter exchanged glances and looks. Why is it a crime to sit in a booth that was already available? Why were we made out to be the bad guys when all we did was kindly ask for a different seating because we felt uncomfortable sitting in a dim lighted table with a grill sprawled with scrapings of meat stuck to it? I didn't let this interaction damper the night. We decided on the AYCE. Some of the members in our group have never been here, so they were confused and I was explaining to them what the AYCE entails and how it works. As I was explaining to the first-timers what the AYCE was, our waiter came by to ask if we were ready to order. I kindly told him that we needed a few more minutes. After a few minutes passed by, the manager came by to ask us if we had any questions and if we were ready to place in our order. We were ready and placed our order. As he walked away, I noticed he whispered something to our waiter. This is when everything went downhill. Why? Our waiters changed. We had a new waiter. I have no idea why that is. Everything was going fine, we received our first round of meats and side dishes. However, after this our waiter decided that we were unimportant. We had to succumb to asking other waiters to put in our next round of orders because we were waiting for over 15 minutes when we were done with our first round for our waiter to come back to the table but he never did. I am aware that we were not the only table he had. I am aware of how difficult it can be to handle multiple tables, I am a waitress myself. I made every excuse possible to explain his shortcomings as a waiter. But it was obvious that he ignored our table on purpose because I watched him as he would attend to the other tables on the other side of the restaurant and make a bee-line straight to the table seated right next to us on multiple occasions. Did he ever stop by our table when he did his walk through? No. I witnessed him avoiding eye contact with our table and walking right pass us. The only time we were actually able to interact with him was when we had to call out to him when he was walking by to ask for more sides. We never received the sides, we asked twice. But I saw that he kept walking back and forth from the kitchen to bring out sides and rice for the table next to us. At one point I saw him simply standing around. This was when I became appalled at his lack of service. We waited for over 20 minutes for our waiter to come back to ask for the check. We sat there for over 20 minutes but he never came by. We saw him walking pass our table on multiple occasions, avoiding eye contact. I realized that waiting for our waiter was not getting anywhere, so I had to get up and walk to the front and let them know that we were ready for our check. I didn't want to because I know how badly that reflects on the waiter but dealing with the lack of service and waiting for over 20 minutes after we were done eating to ask for our check is unacceptable. Our waiter saw us checking out in the front and even communicated with the manager, did he even acknowledge us? Nope. read more

I and my friend came in for her birthday lunch. We both decided to get the combo A all you can eat, and it was horrible since we have to wait and wait for the waiter come back ( actually he has never showed up still we left ). I decided to leave because both of us feel very uncomfortable for waiting and didn't feel like eating anymore. Then we asked a manager for the bills, he keeps saying sorry and offer a free dessert which is good, and then he hand us a gift card (a business card with a note on it) and tell us to show it next time when we come in. I was thinking about coming back still I asked my Korean friend read the note for me. The note is: Dessert and female Chinese customers. What is wrong about where am I from? why would they classify us by gender and assumed our nationality? Yes, I understand you guys are busy, so I still pay the full price and leave the tip even we only got 3 dishes of meat and those side dishes. I don't think I want to come back there. read more

Beque Holic is right off W Newberry Rd in the same plaza as the Regal movie theater. Great for getting your food coma on before showtime! It's primarily a lunch or dinner place, and for good reason, these meals are huge! I went for dinner with my boyfriend, and we got the second biggest meat combo option. There were about 12+ kinds of meat that we could choose from. The meals also come with the traditional Korean sides. The meat was some of the best I've ever had, very fresh and large amounts (10 out of 10). Despite the food itself being great, I felt it was a bit overpriced, our meals were about $30 per person. It was good, but that fact made me not want to come back as often as I would like (7/10). Our waiter did not have a busy section, however it took us a good amount of time to even get refills, and I was just drinking a Diet Coke, nothing crazy. It is a cook-your-own-meal place, so I see how he would want to give us time to converse and have fun cooking, however, we should have been checked on a couple more times (6/10). Awesome review for Beque Holic !! I went there last night for dinner. I have never been to a type of restaurant like this, but let me tell you I wish I would've gone sooner. From the moment I walked into the door I felt at east and everyone was smiling and greeting customers. My bf and I were seated immediately by a very nice host and she explained the menu and how it works and I was still able to ask her some questions. Our main server was awesome too, he explained again how to menu worked, answered our questions, and gave us recommendations on what was super yummy. The food was amazing, all the extra sides that we were given were to die for (kimchi, some sort of baked egg, rice, sauces, pickled radish with wasabi/jalapeño, house salad). Delicious. All other servers were also very attentive and helped us plenty of times, cleaning our grill, fixing the temperature, etc. The manager was great too, he came by and asked how everything was and we have a nice conversation. I will definitely be going back again and again! We picked the "C" menu option and ordered the squid, bulgogi beef, LA kolbi, brisket, and short ribs. YUM! read more
