The bed was very comfortable and quiet location made for a very restful night. Breakfast was basic fare but ample and tasty. Great way to get us on the road. Coffee to go was greatly appreciated too. Both Connie and Rick were welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and certainly would stay here again whether we were traveling through or staying in the area for several days.

My friends would say, "Sure, stay here when you're in town. Not a problem at all. We have a guest room, and a really nice backyard. Oh, you're bringing your bicycle(s) too? That's fine; we have a garage where you can keep them safe and dry." What would probably happen next is that we'd avail ourselves of all of this hospitality: my friends would cook us eggs for breakfast, give us glasses of wine in the evening, and let us go about our business in between the breakfast and the wine. And then, not ready to say goodbye to the weekend yet, we would probably go off on a long hike and not come back to collect our bicycles until nigh dark. When we finally made it back, my friends would be worried about us and would have already called around to try to find out whether we were okay. All in all, quite nice. It's good to have old friends in Redding.

There's a video in one of the room that taught about the dam's history. Apparently, the staff ran two free hour long tours at 11AM and 1PM the day we visited. We were told the tour schedule changes all the time so you need to call ahead for their schedule. You need to arrive an hour in advance and it's first come first reserve. You cannot reserve before the hour. There were a lot of people waiting for the tour. Hopefully, we can return one day for the tour.

Visiting Redding, CA and swung through here to use our National Park pass. Wasn't sure what to…read moreexpect or how active we would be, given it's November, rainy and we showed up after 2pm. Rangers were FANTASTIC at the Visitor's Center and guided us toward 3 driving tours we could take. Started with the South Fork Lookout fire trail, which winds up to an amazing view of all of Whiskeytown Lake and environs. It was a very chilly 40° but, for us, beautiful. The could of rain were sweeping up, and over, the mountain we were on. We got out of the car long enough for photos, videos, fresh air, then dodged back in and headed back down. We were able to appreciate the width and breadth of the Carr Fire in 2018 and imagined the beauty prior to that fateful event. But we also took a moment to appreciate the beautiful remnants left on the scorched earth and how beautiful it will be again in time. After the South Fork Lookout trail, we headed to the sight dedicated by JFK during his last trip to California, just a few months before his assassination. It is now a memorial and is a fantastic look at an incredible engineering accomplishment. After this, we intended a 2+ hour circle tour of Hwy 299 W + SR 3 circling back towards Redding, but the evening was nearing, sunlight fading, so we changed plans and headed just around Whiskeytown Lake on Shoreline Drive. We are so glad we did! Lots of deer, beautiful scenery and a feeling that all this beauty was just for us. Note: both these trails, South Fork and Shoreline are dirt, so better to do these treks in a vehicle made for these drives. We thoroughly enjoyed this area and stopped back in to the Visitor's Center to thank the rangers again. Great day!

I have held and attended several events at the house and each one has been fabulous!! The property has the most stunning views, the architecture is breathtaking, the appointments meet every need. There is a peace you just can't explain! A golf cart is available to transport your guests to and from the two larger parking areas, if needed. I don't know why the previous reviewer reduced the star rating for this - the property owners offer a solution. ‍ For smaller events, you can park right next to the house. The property is off the main highway behind a private gate.... The road is dirt, but well maintained and plenty wide for two vehicles to pass - don't be concerned and drive slowly!! We've been using this property for YEARS and have never had any issues. I would recommend this property 150%!!

All very clean and well appointed. The real highlight is the expansive patio and infinity pool. Cabana area nice as well. This was an evening event, and chilly so was lovely until weather changed. Beautiful view to the east. The 4 stars reflect the dirt, narrow road getting there and thankful for the golf cart escort or we would not have been able to get to the house from parking area, which is a bit downhill. Was nice to experience a lively property.
