When you think #SupportLocal it is harder to think of anything more local than a food truck (save a…read morelemonade stand). Post-pandemic, I'm loving seeing the re-emergence of food trucks throughout the Valley as well as special food truck festivals. For brick-and-mortar restaurants that also have a food truck, it is a convenient way to try new places without traveling. As Forrest Gump said, "My mom always said life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." The same goes for food trucks, really. When I heard that Mr. Munchies was going to be around, I checked around to see what was going to be on offer. Their Instagram had some snaps of mini-donuts and corndogs. Ooh-kay...It turns out that the menu IS corndogs and mini-donuts. Hence, there is truth in advertising the name Mr. Munchies. This food truck is not offering meals per se as much as they are snacks. I ordered the Heavyweight corndog. It was more than a typical corndog as 1/4 pound all-beef frank hand-dipped in cornbread batter and served golden brown. Add some Jalapeno cheddar and you have quite a large corndog. I have never been a corndog person but this was good. It was fried perfectly and crunchy without being dry. Perhaps my only complaint was that at $10 it seemed pricey but food prices are going up. Now, for the donuts. These are also served directly from the fryer. Mr. Munchies has several toppings and flavors available. When I asked if I could mix and match (even six and six) they said no. This totally makes sense from an operational perspective but is also a daunting choice when you are ordering a dozen of something you have never had before. I went with the Reese's Peanut Butter version since it's a flavor I know and like. They claim the mini-donuts are drizzled with Ghiradelli chocolate and Reese's. What I ended up with was a small box of flavorless dough. They weren't sweet and they really didn't have any flavor other than grease. I ate one and stopped there. It is possible that I perhaps chose the wrong flavor. They had several others including a cinnamon sugar one that would perhaps taste better. But the Reese's was an expensive flop at $8. Would I eat at Mr. Munchies again? Probably not. But it is self-described "carnival food" and when you need a quick fix, their corndogs may be the answer.

I had reached out trying to submit payment about 4 days prior to our event and it took 2 days to get a response back. Then there was the day of the event. I was supposed to get a message that day to let us know what time the chef would be arriving to set up. I was expecting to be informed of this in the morning so that we could plan our day accordingly to make sure we would be home when the chef arrived. I was calling, leaving messages, I messaged the business on instagram, I sent an email, and I sent text messages asking for someone to let us know when to expect the chef when it had gotten to 4, 3, and 2 hours until our event was supposed to start. We finally got a message from our chef at 5:05pm saying he would be there at 6:40-6:55 to set up for our 7pm dinner. He ended up showing up at 6:35pm, and still the set up felt rushed and he seemed a little flustered about how quickly he had to do it. he also ran out of his alcohol used for flames, so we never got to get a grand finale. I still to this day haven't received any call, text, email, or instagram message apologizing for the lack of communication or even answering any of my questions. Again, we loved the chef, however we would absolutely never book with this company again because of the stress the lack of communication caused. Multiple times the day of the event we thought we had been scammed because no one was getting back to us to let us know when to expect the chef. We had booked this for the first day of my sisters Bachelorette trip, and luckily we had planned to hang out at the house most of the day, otherwise we would've had no idea how to plan when to return home to make sure the chef could set up. Totally unacceptable and incredibly annoying.

We were excited to have dinner and a show while celebrating with friends. I will say that I thought I knew what to expect for hibachi, but this was way more fun than I anticipated. Chef Han was with us and he basically gave us the hibachi experience from Dick's Last Resort. Our dinner involved drinking games, trivia, being heckled, and a cool fire show at the end. Chef Han was hilarious and really did great with our rowdy group. Food was good, I enjoyed the scallops the most, cooked perfectly. We had a blast! 5 star experience, would definitely do that again!

My husband and I came here for the second time for a Valentine lunch together. The first time we…read morecame, we accidentally ate before we came and so we had so much food leftover (which is not a bad problem!). So this time, we split the zesty orange chicken and a Philly roll between us for the perfect amount of food for the both of us. The food was delicious too. The orange chicken had the very essential and yummy flavor of an orange! And anything that can get me to eat more veggies (such as this dish) is a win to me. If I had any complaints, I would've wanted more chicken in the dish, since it was made up of mostly noodles. The sushi was good! Maybe not "knock-your-socks-off" good, but we did just go with the basic Philly roll instead of something more exciting. Their menu had some really interesting sounding sushi rolls. I will say though, that the Philly roll was very pretty! Otherwise, our waitress was great and checked up on us. Our food was out pretty fast, and for Globe, I would definitely consider this more of an upscale/still casual place for a date. We'll be back to get more fancy Asian fusion food.

The reason I am giving this place 2 stars today instead of 1 is because our server Lauren saved me…read morefrom having an allergic reaction due to observed cross contamination in the kitchen and told us. We haven't been here in years due to the last time we visited we had a very negative experience. Today was a little better, but not by much. My 6yo and I ordered 3 rolls(california, rainbow and caterpillar) and an appetizer(coconut tempura shrimp). We received 2 rolls before our appetizer, which to me was weird. They all came with wasabi and ginger, and I asked our waitress Loren if I could have some ginger without wasabi as I am mildly allergic. She said no because they use the same hand to serve both so the wasabi is in the ginger. I thought 'that sucks, cross contamination'. When the final roll(caterpillar) came out it had 3 sauces on it; unagi sauce, spicy Mayo and Siracha. I asked her when she came by again if it was supposed to have the spicy ones, she said 'oh yes, the caterpillar comes with all 3'. I had ordered it for my 6yo to eat, the menu has none of the spicy sauces listed in the description, just the unagi sauce. So, buyer beware, not all sauces are listed on the menu and if you have an allergy you might want to eat elsewhere because if there is one cross contamination, there are bound to be others.
