Addressed it with the manager early on and she said it would be fixed. Was never fixed! The food was terrible and I almost damaged my teeth on a giant bone in the steak served. Addressed it with the manager again and all she could say was, "there do be bones in meat". Told her that if they had a more thorough process that all of this could have been avoided. On top of that another guest found a giant piece of plastic in their mashed potatoes. The managers response was that the potatoes come in a plastic bag and that's why it was found in the food. She took zero responsibility and also had no customer service skills. She could have apologized for the bone in my steak or the plastic bag cutting in the mashed potatoes but she made a choice to be combative rather than show any sort of remorse. @the Olana - the manager on duty during this event was the Latina with short bleach blonde fried hair w split ends. Do yourself a favor and find her replacement asap. I can guarantee you that no guests will ever be satisfied with her

My kids identify this as one of the best splash pads in the area, second only to Oak Hills Park in…read moreCarrollton (which they love because of the slides). It is HUGE - definitely the largest splash pad I've seen in terms of sheer size. It is designed so that the water spouts at the top of the splash pad form a small river that flows down to the lower area, where there are more spouts, plus rocks to climb on and grassy (turf) hills to roll down. My kids like bringing small toys and racing them down the river. The real star here is the shaded observation area for the mamas, though. There is no other park that treats us so well, providing expansive shade tents all the way around the park. There are picnic tables, but for the most part it's BYOC (bring your own chair) - or blanket - and set up shop on the turf, under the shade, in an elevated spot so you can keep an eye on the littles playing below. The bathrooms are new and usually pretty clean, although sometimes they do still smell like a porta potty. The splash pad hours are kind of a bummer, with the water not turning on until 10am. In the peak heat of the summer, we would be there waiting right at 10, but by 12:30 or so the water already felt like bath water - not refreshing and honestly kind of gross. I wish it opened at 8am so we could enjoy it for longer. Now that summer is over, the splash pad is only open on the weekends. They have a super helpful and very clear calendar which posts the hours here: https://www.highlandvillage.org/calendar.aspx?CID=31&showPastEvents=false There is a traditional playground directly adjacent to the splash pad, but it's unremarkable - certainly nothing you'd drive out of your way for. If you're looking for a splash pad to add to your summer rotation, put this one on the list.

Whether it was meeting in person, texting, or chatting over the phone, David was always there to answer the many questions that arose during our extensive wedding planning. He was so easy to work with, exceptionally thorough with information, and even provided great suggestions along the way. Additionally, Irene's Bakery--the bakery the venue partners with--was fantastic! The cake was delicious and delivered right on time. We also worked with DJ Ivan, who did an amazing job! He executed our timeline perfectly and played exactly the songs I had requested. On the day of the wedding, our reception went incredibly smoothly. The room was set up exactly according to the floor plan we had discussed. There was plenty of staff on hand, ensuring that both the head table and every guest table were well taken care of. Everyone was attentive and brought a wonderful, positive energy to the evening. As both the bride and the planner of my own wedding, I intentionally tried to keep things relatively simple--and even so, everything turned out absolutely beautifully. We began looking for chapels/venues with windows so it would still give us an outdoorsy vibe. Let me tell you. When we first walked into the chapel at Ashton Gardens we were speechless. I've been to a million weddings, but had never seen all the details that go into planning. We worked with Peyton as our wedding coordinator and she was fabulous. She asked me all the important questions, and when we came across one that I had no idea Was something I would need to think about. She didn't pressure me, she just told me to take note of it and email her with whatever I decided. We got through our meetings and felt like I had taken care of all of the details. Honestly, I was nervous and didn't know what to expect or how and IF everything was going to come together. The day of, my husband nor I had anything to worry about. Peyton literally took care of and thought of everything. She was AMAZING And so intentional. For instance, it was freezing outside. I went and took pictures with my groom for our first look and when I came back in I couldn't stop shivering. When everyone was throwing jackets on me to warm me up, Peyton comes in with some hot water! Another thing that stood out was when we were taking off for our exit, Peyton came up to us and said everything is loaded in your car, and your phones are in the cup holders up front....I hadn't seen my phone since that morning so it's a miracle that anyone found it lol. I know these details have nothing to do with the actual ceremony, but they show how intentional people are here at Ashton Gardens. I've read some of the negative reviews, and they honestly surprised me -- our experience was amazing (and I don't think we were an exception). My wife and I were married there June 11th, and we decided to rent out all the rooms. The rooms were incredible (particularly the groom's suite), and each room was unique. We had so much fun having the run of the place for the weekend (if you can afford it, I HIGHLY recommend you do this)! We NEVER had a problem with any of the staff -- they were all very helpful and nice. We had a 1.5 year engagement, which gave us lots of time to plan. Wildwood Inn, and Kristen in particular, was incredibly helpful throughout the entire process. They kept close contact with us, were VERY responsive, and always did their best to accommodate our needs (even when we were a little needy). I would be remiss if I didn't mention Amanda -- she helped coordinate everything up to about a month before the wedding, and she was always incredibly responsive and helpful. I don't think we could have done this without Kristen and Amanda, honestly. In the weeks leading up to the wedding, we had to make a few changes, but the staff (and Kristen in especially) helped us (kindly, I might add) get exactly what we were looking for. I know we were needy -- I know we were probably a pain in the ass. But they were understanding of our stress, kind in their words, and helpful in their actions. They made what could have been a really crappy situation into a smooth ride. There was a little mix up with the chairs (some new, nicer chairs had come in, but there was an issue finding storage at this cozy little venue), but Kristen was able to conjure up some storage and get us the chairs my wife had her heart set on (and we can't give her enough credit for that -- Kristen is like a magician of wedding coordination)! We also needed to change a few other things that we had decided almost a year previous, but they accommodated those changes as well. Finally, and this was the big one, we had a little flower girl meltdown right before the ceremony. Everyone was FREAKING out -- she was sobbing uncontrollably, and no one could console her. It really was looking bad, like the ceremony was going to be delayed or ruined. Then in steps Kristen. I swear, this woman is the child whisperer. Kristen swept up the flower girl, who INSTANTLY stopped crying (after easily an hour of her whole family trying to calm her down). It was like magic. The flower girl was shy through the whole ceremony (and had to stay close to mom, the matron of honor), BUT she didn't cry for the rest of the ceremony (and truly, she was screaming bloody murder before Kristen stepped in). Kristen really saved the day -- she should get a raise just for that bit alone! But even after all that drama, she stuck with us throughout the entire wedding (3 hours) and made sure everything went smoothly. The wedding was gorgeous (some of our guests told us it was the most fun they'd EVER had at a wedding), the venue was incredible, the rooms were incredible, the staff was incredible... I just can't say enough good things about this place. Book your wedding here -- do it now before someone else does. It was the fairytale wedding my wife dreamed of! And Wildwood Inn, Kristen, and Amanda made it happen. Thank you guys so much for everything! Y'all are the best.

I set down the envelope next to my purse while taking a photo with my friends. I didn't see it when I came back. The only people who were near my purse and the gift was the waiters walking around collecting/clearing up drinks. Be very careful with cards and gifts at this location. Everything about the property is ostentatiously southern, which might seem kitschy to non Texans, but for locals it just feels comfortable and familiar. Since I was there for a banquet, the first thing I have to talk about is the food. It seemed only appropriate that barbecue was on the menu with things like brisket, smoked sausage and baked beans, all served buffet style. While it was respectable enough, the quality was closer to Dickey's or Spring Creek than more authentic Texas barbecue. I thought the bread pudding they had for dessert was a good choice since I don't see that very often, plus it was very tasty. This place also has several built in bars because at social events people need their adult libations! There were only a handful of options available, but frozen margaritas was one of them, so that totally made up for the small selection. In addition to special events and private parties they also host market days open to the public. For that they have local vendors selling their goods along with other family friendly activities, such as pony rides, a petting zoo and rodeo. Although I haven't been before, I'm inspired to go now after seeing how well they handled the event that we did attend.
