A stranger recommended this spot for a quick lunch on Saturday. What a great suggestion. Sandwiches are made to order and bread was fresh out of the oven. I went with roast beef and it did not disappoint. Only down side is that Benny's is 40 min from my house so I can't go back every day for lunch. Lol read more

Our first time here, taken by a friend for lunch. Very disappointing after all the stellar reviews. The bread/rolls are not top quality and small. Mine didn't even seem like it was cooked enough. Only one person making sandwiches made the wait long. Hubs had the cheesesteak which contained jalapeños apparently as he was unable to eat it, too spicy for him. I had to trade him my skimpy uninviting Italian grinder. Will not go back. Campini's far exceeds the quality. read more

Yum! Found this spot on Yelp and Yelpers did not steer us wrong. We ordered the large Benny's special which has turkey, ham, bacon and avocado with your choice of a multitude if extremely fresh toppings! We ordered ours on Squaw bread it was very fresh and tasty topped with oats. Perfect bread for this sandwich. The large combo with chips and a drink was a little over $14...pretty reasonable compared to many deli/sandwich places. Benny and all working here were extremely friendly and helpful, especially since they knew it was our first time here. We were fortunate there wasn't a line when we walked in as the line quickly extended to the door as it gets busy during the lunch hour, but worth the wait. If you are in a hurry maybe order ahead. They have new ice cream sandwiches on cookies which sounded delicious. Maybe next time! read more

A classic sandwich shop with no frills. They have a couple of bread options from French Rolls to Squaw bread. The menu is nothing that's going to knock your socks off, but it fits the bill for a solid sandwich. The inside is decorated in a kind of retro diner feel with a lot of San Diego vintage sports memorabilia. I went with the California Turkey on a French roll which has bacon, turkey, and avocado. I topped it with deli mustard (they have a wide variety of condiments), mayo, lettuce, tomato, sprouts, and pepperoncinis. The sandwich was great! Bread was fresh and all toppings were good. My wife had the meatball special with provolone, Parmesan, peppers, and onions. She loved it and the meatballs were cooked perfectly and molded to the bread. The only reason I didn't rate this higher is the size of the sandwich. I didn't see a menu with the sizes so I went with a regular and it was pretty small, maybe like a 6 inch. I wish I would've gone with the large, other than that I'll be back here for sure! read more

A fair warning to all: DO NOT GO before closing!!! They close at 6pm. We arrived at 5pm and the girl in the front was PISSED OFF!! Like a lot. She yelled at the poor kid in the back, Tyler Taylor, something like, that he HAD to cook 2 more phillys. The poor kid who got yelled did not seem upset at all though. Just said ok and did his job. The whole time the girl in the front slammed things around and slammed doors shut and basically just threw the sandwich together. When she got done I was so uncomfortable i decided to eat in the cold. Due to my fist time experience ever eating here, i will never go back even if the food was good. Was Very Sad. But you are warned now. It affected me that i came on this and wrote this yelp and ive NEVER done a review ever. It tells you something. Again you are warned. read more

Anyone that knows anything about cutting or displaying would walk out, which I did. Displays are amateur at best, no quality or finesse. I would recommend avoiding this place until they learn the business.
