I brought a 2011 Lexus RX350 to be evaluated. The car was not shifting gears in automatic correctly. While shifting the car in manual it still drove perfectly. Their diagnosis was that the car needs a new transmission totaling $7,359.10 +tax. I then took the car to the dealership and their mechanics said the problem was not with the transmission. They gave me full Blue Book value of $5000 as a trade-in. Bennett Motor Werks would not honor the report from the dealership and would not issue me a refund. Bad business. Jeffrey, was it worth not refunding me $181.95 in lieu of a bad review? Do not service your vehicle here. I have a 2020 Camaro ZL1. For about a year, I've had some alignment issues, to the point where I'd worn through two sets of Michelin Pilot Super Sports on the rear. My wife saw an ad for Bennett Motor Werks in a recent copy of Slipstream, the Porsche Maverick Region club magazine, so I reached out. They were fantastic. Quoted me a price, set an appointment, and dropped my car off. Got a call later in the day and went and picked it up. I was provided detailed paperwork on exactly what they found, and how the fixed it. They also showed me how everything was back into proper spec. After driving the car around now for a few weeks, it's like a whole different vehicle. It hooks up, even when I stomp on it, and there's 100% stability now! My Mother-in-law's car a 2008 Hyundai Elantra was pulling to the right. She had taken it to another shop and they wanted to replace both the left and right control arms and struts for $1900.00. They said it couldn't be aligned until those parts were replaced. Michael put it on his alignment machine and it was barely out of alignment. He aligned it and all is well. GREAT people to deal with, and EXCELLENT quality of work! Our Hyundai Elantra was due for it's 60,000 timing belt replacement to keep it under warranty. The secret a lot of people don't know is that you DON'T have to have the work done at the dealership to keep within your vehicle warranty's maintenance requirements. You just have to be able to show PROOF that the work was done by a qualified mechanic! With that in mind, I had the dealership give me a quote for a simple straight-forward timing belt replacement. Then, after seeing the great reviews people were giving Bennett Motor Werks, I called them for a quote. I was able to get the timing belt, tensioner, rollers, AND a new water pump replaced for about the same price the dealership was going to charge me for replacing the timing belt ALONE! And, I don't know about anybody else, but I have some serious skepticism about some of the mechanics at the dealership. This place (Bennett Motor Werks) is a family-owned business with a great reputation for repairing high-end sports cars - Ferrari's, Porsche's, etc, and the picky owners of those cars (and rightfully so) take them here. It just made sense that if they do such great work on those cars, for the same price or less than the guys at the dealership, I should bring my car here too. We have our Hyundai back now, and I will certainly be back for any other repair work in the future! read more

I brought my car into Bennett because I was recommended by a friend. I had a check engine light that wouldn't go off. I have a BMW and Bennet Motor Werks stated they were experts and had many years experience in working with Bmws and European cars. First they took Several days to get back to me to just say they can't figure out what is wrong. So i kindly shared the estimate from Bmw, and then they jumped on agreeing with what they said. they did a repair that was supposedly supposed to fix it, they give me my car back after a week and a half, the mechanic left his BMW diagnostic tester in my car, made me come back and give it to him. Then after an 1.5 hrs my car engine light came back on. So I had to take my car back for them to continue to review and check their list only to be perplexed and have no idea what is wrong with my car and have no idea what to do. I expressed my concern and how upset and time consuming this has been. So almost $2000 in and my check engine light is still on. I asked them if they could please take another look since I've already invested so much time. The mechanic said he did something else and said they got the check engine light to go off. So I took another Uber to go get my car for it to last one day and the check engine light came back on.! So I had to take my car back to the BMW dealership only to pay another $2000 for them to repair the oxygen intake sensor!!! I told them I've never experienced this with any other BMW shop. Their mechanic did not seem accredited to be working on BMWs, and had a lack of knowledge that I would expect a BMW mechanic to have. I just feel like they wanted me to go away and take my car with me. I was upset an extremely disappointed, I feel it was a waste of my time and money. I'm sorry, but I would not recommend anybody to use this BMW shop!!! read more

I recently had a service light show up on my 2013 BMW 328. I asked a friend who also had a BMW if he had a service guy he would recommend. He recommended Michael Bennett at Bennett Motor Werks. I was able to get a service appointment within 4 days. Brought the car in, and they were very welcoming. Since it had been well over 2 years since my last service, Bennett recommended a checkup service. Bennett not only replaced the parking lamp that was the source of the service light, they also ran full diagnostics, performed some maintenance service, and had my vehicle back to me by 5pm. I am very pleased with the work that was done. Bennett was very professional, and made me very comfortable in their ability provide a fair and reasonable estimate, and perform proper service in a very timely manner. There is still Honor and Dignity in the Auto Repair Industry! As the owner of a 1999 Mercedes I have tried many places to get my car serviced or fixed. It is hard to find a place that not only knows how to fix this car, but will even HONESTLY tell me whats wrong without charging a ridiculously inflated price. I took my car in for several problems including, a rattling sound, check engine light on, and oil change. I pulled up in dread expecting the worst. I had my guard up and I expected to receive a long list of expensive repairs that I had no idea would fix the problem or not and I would probably have to 2nd mortgage my house to afford. I made sure they would call me before doing any work at all. The shop manager John patiently took the time to explain in depth all the issues that might be coming up, answer all my questions, recommend what I should start saving up for in the future. He recommended waiting to get an expensive electric repair, as it did not affect drivability/safety of the car. They said no major repairs were necessary at the time/fixed the headlight, rattling noise, light and only charged me the price of an oil change! Finally an Honest, Upfront, Caring mechanic that explains things in a way that I can understand. It felt great to be treated like a valued customer and not Bamboozled because its obvious Im not a car expert. I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

I first learned about Bennett Motor Werks while shopping for a new set of tires on TireRack. Bennett was a recommended installer and on my way from home to work. Before ordering my tires, I decided to stop by and check them out. What I found was very refreshing - just a simple down-to-earth explanation of how the process of shipping tires directly from TireRack to their shop would work. I never thought it could be that easy. Jim called me as soon as the tires arrived and scheduled the installation. Everything went smooth as silk, an excellent service visit. It is true that this is my first yelp review, and it is also true that had Bennett provided a positive experience that I probably would not have taken the time to write a review. However, I feel my experience towards the far opposite should be shared... Long story somewhat short, I brought my car here in perfect running condition and with no visual damage at the time they took possession to have two rear tires installed and an alignment performed. I received my car back with a stuttering transmission and damage to my powder coated rims that they installed the tires on. I called them separately on both issues and even took the time to inconveniently make a return visit to demonstrate my issues. In every follow up with them including the return visit, they flatly denied that they had done any damage whatsoever to my vehicle or wheels. This basically amounts to calling me a liar. To suggest that someone else or I had damaged my rims and covered it up with a shoddy and poorly matching coat of touch up paint and tried to put it in then...is just a little bit absurd. Especially after initially denying the wheel, he conceded that they had noticed damage to the powder coat while changing my tires. The touch up paint has now peeled off my wheels and looks about as bad as you would expect, and I have had the mechanical issue diagnosed by my trusted indie shop as a damaged transfer case. I'll never know if my transfer case would have gone bad on its own, or if they damaged it most likely in the process of performing the alignment. But what I do know is that I'm not giving them the benefit of the doubt due to the damage they caused and their unwillingness to admit any fault. Anyways, just a couple thousand out of my pocket to get my car back to the state is was in before they took possession for a simple tire change. At the very least, I know for a fact that you can do better than these people for an import indie mechanic in the DFW area. Ultimately I hope fewer people have to go through a similar experience as a result of this review. read more

Bennett Motor Werks is what every car owner is looking for - an honest shop. They have helped me keep repairs reasonable with two of my older cars. One example is with my 98 Expedition. I thought the passenger side wiper blade motor had gone out. On inspection, they discovered that the nut assembly had just come lose. They only charged me for the labor to repair. I had my car in the neighborhood of Bennett Motors getting windows tinted, and there was brake dust around the front wheels. I ask my tint guy to take it next door and see about the brakes, and that was Robert at Bennett Motors. Robert was asked to look at a brake issue, and took the initiative to suggest a timing belt replacement as the Mitsubishi Montero I had was old, but low mileage and the timing belt needs replacement at 60,000 to 110,000 miles. My first impression, not knowing Robert or Bennett Motors was it was a typical "upsell" job, and I said thanks but no. I took it to my regular mechanic and he said Robert's advise was in fact sound, and although the milage was just at the bottom end of the replacement cycle, the age suggested replacement. Ok, we'll even though it was my regular mechanic, I was still cynical as the timing belt replacement can't be diagnosed without spending most of the money requiared to replace it. Ok, so I gave in, and had it replaced. To replace the timing belt, you should replace the tensioner, and while its apart, you replace the water pump. Well, the timing belt is a rubber belt, and even a ordinary person can tell if you see a deteriorated rubber component, and guess what....My timing belt was on its last leg, like one road trip away from breakdown, being stranded, and possibility of extensive engine damage costing a lot more than the repairs being suggested, then confirmed by my mechanic of 20 years. Today, I called Robert to thank him for his sound advise, even though I didn't have the work done by his shop, he gave me good sound advise and fortunately I followed it.
