24 Jan 2019 UPDATE After my tooth extraction back in March…read more2018; I've continued to have my teeth periodically cleaned by Misty Baker. I only have 10 teeth & am pleased with the personal attention & thoroughness of Misty's expertise. I look forward to my next scheduled appointment with Misty on 24 May 2019. ================================================ On 6 Feb 2017 I arrived at the appointed time & had a tooth extracted, to my satisfaction. 17 Mar 2018, a Saturday morning, I arrived unannounced, no appointment, & had been in pain since Tuesday. The staff readily got me into X-Ray dept for the preliminary. Once seated in the dental chair, a young woman came in & introduced herself as Dr. Melanie Kim. First thing I noticed is she has small hands which is what I want for my child-size mouth. I'm 73 years old & know my teeth are nearing the end of the road. I have no front teeth just a few molars for chewing, all of which are in poor condition. I reasonably expect all my teeth will need to be extracted within the next 2 years, at most all of which I explained to Dr. Kim who listened attentively. I further explained I'd been in pain since Tuesday & presently had so much pain on the upper left side molars I was afraid my head wouldn't fall off. Additionally, the gums of my 3 molars on the left side were tender to the touch. She asked for her Dental Assistant to take Xrays of the upper two molars on the left side. After examining the teeth & looking at the Xrays, Dr. Kim agreed that trying to "save any teeth" is not a good option. Dr. Kim quickly agreed that one, perhaps both upper molars on the left side may need to be extracted & that the Xrays appear to show an infection inbetween both teeth. Only one tooth was sensitive to my tongue & Dr. Kim's instruments. Her prognosis was that the one tooth definitely needed to be extracted, so I was anethesised & readied for the extraction. I was pleased that Dr. Kim appeared to know what she was doing, no hesitation, no apprehension, she dug right in. I requested & was given a 2nd shot of novacane. Dr. Kim extracted the tooth in what seemed to me to be a relatively short time. She confirmed that there was an infection between the two teeth AFTER the one tooth had been extracted, but that it appeared the other tooth was unaffected by the infection. I wasn't given any pain prescription. Dr. Kim told me to alternated between Extra Strength Tylenol & Ibuprofen every 4-6 hours, however, I didn't need that much medication. For the first time since Tuesday, I went to bed sedated & slept soundly. When I awoke Sunday morning my mouth & teeth were back to normal, no pain, no sedation, no tender gums around the 3 molars in my jaw on the left side. I have an appointment on Friday to see Dr. Melanie Kim whom I consider extremely well qualified whose expertise I highly value. At that time we'll discuss options for further treatment. I was lucky to draw Dr. Kim on my unscheduled, EMERGENCY walk-in. I've read all the reviews for Spanish Springs Modern Dentistry. I noticed Dr. Kim has several favorable reviews dating back to 2015, which means she has been there for 3+ years, which means she is doing something RIGHT for her employer & her patients. At no time did Dr. Kim try to sell me on more expensive treatments. Shame on me for not including the names of all other "Staff" who were all courteous, helpful, & professional. I cop a plea of being in pain. I will update this review after my upcoming Friday appointment with Dr. Melanie Kim.

It is so unfortunate that they are in business as a dental office. They are giving Dentist a…read morehorrible name and reputation. I am now scared to go to a dentist. They picked on the elderly when possible and think you're not paying attention while the very nice dental assistant in skin type pants walk around in front of you. They take a CT scan without you knowing what they're doing and try to charge you for it, they get very upset when you want to check with your insurance because they know it won't be covered and they can bill you. It is a nightmare from the time you walk in till you leave they tried to distract you and get very upset when you don't want a $1500 cleaning when you came in to get a free check up and cleaning that you're insurance pays for. They are being investigated now by Delta Dental for insurance Fraud and Fraud against the patient. The part of the nice behavior is just an act to relax you and get you in a vulnerable state so you might agree to something that is totally unnecessary. I have the best insurance there is and came in for a cleaning and check up and they left I left with they plan for around $3000 that I sent to my insurance and found out it's all almost totally unnecessary. The nice assistant may not be aware of what is going on, but that is hard to believe I'm 72 years old and they thought I was just an elder that they could scam and pick on, but they have been reported to several agencies already, and I will not rest until these scammers are put out of business. They just have no business ruining a honorable profession. Play do not go here!!! and if you have and it's too late blaze, check your plan for honesty and anything that they have cheated you on because they are cheaters if they were an honest business, they would try to sue me for saying all these things but they won't because they know it's true and don't wanna go near a courtroom. Hopefully they will end up in one soon anyway they truly do not deserve to be in business as far as their dental skill, it is difficult to know because they are scabbing you instead of using any skill. I know there's more than one Dentist this female one who I know is a criminal and it's possible there could be some qualified Dentist working there, but they must know what's going on. I don't see how they could not and again if I'm not telling the truth why don't you sue me please take care of people and heed the advice from myself and the dozens of other that I've read here.

The practice is located in a small business shopping center. Bev and the front office team do a great job with check-in and out, insurance, etc., and make the process efficient and seamless. Could not have found a Better Dentist in Sparks or Reno. Now that it has been some time I have got to say they were good at fooling me. Dr York did not listen to me and he said he could not help me with partials I was a smoker trying to quiet at that time. He told me I need dentures. So I had no other choice but to say yes. Months later I got 21teeth pulled and had dentures. Not only was it bad thing but I was not able to get them to stay so I could not eat anything but soup for 4 months. It got so bad that I was put on suicide watch. I was able to find someone to help me get out of this mess. And now I can eat. I would not recommend DrYork or this office to anyone. The billing department is contacted with insurance companies for an agreed price and no more than that amount. They push the extra back to the patient and this not agencies the insurance policies. When asked to talk to the billing department they said that they can only email them and they do not have a phone number. They referred to get me any information. So since all of this I had to get a 49,000.00 dollar loan to get everything fixed. And I'm still waiting to get some of my money back from them. I played 3,000.00 and insurance payed 7000.00 for dentures. Wow someone got a lot of money for nothing.

Another staff member insisted I didn't have insurance, despite the fact that I absolutely do and make monthly payments toward it. She repeatedly argued with me about it instead of trying to help. I came in with a dental emergency because my tooth had broken and I was in significant pain. I misunderstood and thought they would be able to treat or repair it that day, but instead they only took X-rays and examined it briefly before telling me I'd need to schedule another appointment a week later. The overall experience was frustrating and uncomfortable. The waiting room was extremely hot, the paperwork process was excessive (9 pages on an iPad, including requests for photos of my driver's license and multiple "profile pictures" of my face), and the staff seemed annoyed that I wasn't completing everything quickly enough while they continued interrupting me with questions. I honestly spent more time filling out paperwork than I did speaking with the dentist. The dentist never introduced himself, looked in my mouth for less than a minute, said "yep, it's broken," and walked out. I also had to ask multiple times for copies of my X-rays and was repeatedly told no until Faith, who handled the payment plans, stepped in and kindly printed them for me without issue. She was the only genuinely pleasant and helpful person I interacted with there. On top of everything else, the office closed an hour earlier than posted, which seemed odd. Thankfully, I found another dentist who was much more professional and compassionate, and I'll be continuing treatment there instead. Overall, this was unfortunately one of the worst dental experiences I've had, especially for a $39 emergency visit.
