Now two years after my last review, I'm just as satisfied with everyone and everything at Glenn…read moreAlex Dentistry if not more. I switched from my previous dentist over 10 years ago because of a general lack of connection and personable-ness and have been thrilled with my decision. In addition, I knew Dr. Alex as a triathlete and felt his level of fitness and CARE for health and wellness was in line with my own and a notch above all others I had met. Also it makes all the difference that everyone in this office is efficient, conscious of your time and so upbeat and positive. My teeth chip easily and have many times, and each time Arlene and Glenn make room for me quickly and tackle the job with professionalism and perfection. At some point I expect to need porcelain veneers, as my mother has, and some bonding on my bottom front teeth. I feel in good hands no matter what my needs are. They have also recommended orthodontists in town who I trust and will be using. I'll review again then. - Nelson Wells, Athens, Georgia

Pleasant staff initially. Well decorated office. I had 2 visits with Dr. Alex in 2022 for a second…read moreopinion. Everything seemed fine, until they told me they wanted to replace every tooth in my mouth. Surprised because I had been going to more than 1 dentist every 6 months, for years. At almost 70 years old, I wasn't looking for a Hollywood smile nor could I afford it. I continued to see a soon to be retired dentist that had been practicing in Athens for 40 years. I found out a couple months ago; my dentist sold his practice. Anxious to get a crown placed on my now year-old dental implant, I called Dr. Alex's office on 06/10/2026 and was told the doctor would look at it in the morning, and they would call me back. No return call. I just called back today, 06/15/26, and spoke to Dr. Alex's wife. She explained he was either out of the office last Thursday or didn't have time, and he doesn't work on Friday. She stated he wasn't comfortable with placing my crown on my now signed off implant. Also said Dr. Brett Gray, {Oral Surgery associates}. Dr. Gray holds 3 medical degrees and has been my doctor for over 20 years. Board certified Oral Surgeon. Maxo facial degree, and a medical degree. Emory University trained. Dr. Alex's wife stated he isn't educated in crowns. I argued. " I had 2 follow up visits to evaluate my implant at my oral surgeon. Received the green light for completion. Evidently Dr. Alex's wife knows better. By the way I was told that Dr. Alex hadn't even looked at my situation and was told to go to my current dentist that sold his practice, and is in his 70's, to place the crown. Basically, refused to see me. Very disappointed.

Get a second opinion before stepping foot here…read more I was told I needed eight fillings and was encouraged not to worry about the cost because I could write six reviews in exchange for $20 off each. Offering discounts for reviews is already questionable--but using that to offset unnecessary dental work is a major red flag. I got a second opinion from my regular dentist over Christmas break and was told I have zero cavities. There is no reasonable explanation for that kind of discrepancy. Being told I needed extensive dental work that I did not actually need is extremely concerning and unacceptable. I would strongly urge anyone considering this office to be very cautious. Do not agree to treatment without getting a second opinion. No patient should feel pressured into procedures or be incentivized to leave reviews in exchange for discounts.

Extremely unprofessional front desk lady. I called front office and someone answered then hung up…read more Called back instantly and of course sent to voicemail. I leave message. 20 minutes go by so I call again and some young lady answered who was fairly nice. I explained the situation and she transferred me to front desk. In the middle of explaining the situation the front desk woman rudely cuts me off asking my DOB and name. I tell her that info then she tells me only thing she can do for me is extract the tooth but I was explaining I was currently away for Easter weekend and was wondering if I could get a prescription to relieve the gum abscess and she basically says no you can get it pulled or there's nothing I can do for you. Then says "Okay have a great day" as if she were ready to get me off the phone. You should really make sure you have the best appropriate people working where they will be greeting your customers. Absolutely lost a patient because of your front desk lady's lack of compassion. It's one thing to not be able to do it but it's another to simply act like you could care less that a patient is in pain. Disappointed but not surprised.

Wow, what a place! I've been in Athens for only 3 years now, and I'm so glad I found Dr. Rice…read more Things I love about the practice: 1- Professionalism of the staff and team. 2- Knowledge of current dental trends and new procedures. Dr. Rice reads medical journals and takes interest in new findings in dental health. 3- Patience with people who are phobic of dentists. Dr. Rice, although somewhat "dry", is an excellent dentist. He will only recommend procedures if you need them to be done, and takes the time to explain his reasoning. For example, i had a tooth with some of the dentin exposed and he explained that although filling the chip in is unnecessary, in the long run it would be wise since exposure of the sensitive part of the tooth to bacteria could increase the probability of decay. He allowed me time to consider if I wanted to do it, pressure free. Dr. Rice is a very calm dentist. He will talk you through each step of what he is doing if you have fear or anxiety about dental work. He is very logical, and most importantly I trust him as a medical professional. In my experience, he cares about his customers and takes pride in his superior craftsmanship. I go to two of the hygienists, and both are awesome! You won't get a better cleaning anywhere.

I recently received a boilerplate letter announcing they are dropping my Humana Advantage Medicare plan. They sent a letter filled with outright lies about maintaining a "commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality dental care". There is zero compassion in dumping the established patients who built this practice in the first place. It is blindingly obvious what is really going on here. They are kicking loyal patients to the curb so they can squeeze higher fees out of people to fund Dr. Lindsey's practice buyout and pay for their expensive new office renovations. They are prioritizing greed, profit margins, and new drywall over human beings, and it is entirely shameful. Everyone in town needs to know that this practice puts profits before people. If you want a dentist who values loyalty and patients, look elsewhere!
