They never once made new feel bad but instead made me feel good about coming in. They explained the cleaning process and held my hand each step of way. Dr. Scott has a positive attitude and the skill and patience to take care of your dental needs painlessly and efficiently. I am new to Athens and had my former dentist for over 20 years, but a review on Yelp helped me to find his practice. Sometimes "more" (more laser treatments, more new equipment, more hours added to the day) is unnecessary. I appreciate his years of experience and ability to do things right the first time. He also took some extra time to allow me to sit longer for the anesthesia to work best. Bottom line -- he is kind, patience, polite, skilled, and good with people. My family and I have gone to Scott and his dad, Emory since we moved to Athens nearly 23 years ago. Scott is a very conservative dentist and acts only in your best interest. Emory is more apt to jump to a fatalistic conclusion, but Scott usually double checks his dad just to make sure. I believe Emory, the dad, is only in the office on Tuesdays, so if you have something funny going on with your teeth make sure Scott checks it out first. That's not to say these guys aren't genius doctors... because they absolutely are! They are reasonable and efficient, mindful and very careful. They are the best. I have been to a few other dentists due to my moving away from Athens, but I have learned my lesson. The office is clean. The staff are extremely polite, gentle, quick, and patient. My nickname is 'Cat' and they are thoughtful enough to remember my nickname and address me by it. However, these are the smallest of compliments... Dr. Linder is the best Dentist that I have EVER been to! Here's why: This past Thursday I had excruciating tooth pain. I had known for a while I needed this tooth pulled, but had waited because it was near the front of my mouth and I did not want to have a visible tooth missing when I smiled. This didn't matter much on Thursday at 11:37am when I bit into a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and the pain caused me to cry. At 11:40am I called Dr. Linder's office crying in pain. Amy answered and asked, "how far away are you? Can you come now?" I said "yes," and was there by 11:46am. I didn't even have a chance to sit down in the waiting room before I was called back and numbed almost instantly. Long story short, by 12:14pm, the tooth was removed from my mouth. I could not believe it -- still can't. This is only one of many great experiences at Dr. Linder's office. I have had tooth trouble my entire life. I never met a dentist that understood and did not judge the condition of my mouth. I take a lot of anesthetic to get numb and Dr. Linder is the only dentist that I have been to that understands this and treats me adequately. I have been to Dentist's all over NY, in PA, and two in SC. None of them ever numbed me enough and always made me feel bad when I'd tell them I was in pain; almost like they thought I was not tough enough. Dr. Linder has the patience of a saint, and has asked me throughout every visit, "are you in pain? Does this hurt?" Letting me know to tell him if I feel pain. This means so much to me. There are many other reasons that I can write to praise Dr. Linder and his team, but I will stop here. If you need a dentist within 1000+ miles of Athens, GA, you must go to Dr. Linder! If I ever move out of state, I will travel almost any distance to see Dr. Linder! I am forever grateful to him and his staff. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This is a dental practice to love! Drs. Scott and Emory Linder are father and son. Emory has now mostly retired. Both appeared to love their work. If Scott was busy, Emory would occasionally examine my mouth, and I felt like I had received a free consultation. Have been thoroughly satisfied with the technical aspects of all work done. I had an emergency dental procedure in need of taking care of. The staff arranged it so I could be seen the very same day. Considering the circumstances, it was a pleasant visit. He tested me with the interest and care I imagine a regular patient of his receives. I went to Dr. Linder for a double extraction to complete my orthodontic treatment. I'm a very nervous patient and Dr. Linder did a great job of reassuring me and explaining what he was doing before and while he did it. I hate when I get a procedure done and there are surprises so this was a big plus for me. He has a great bedside manner, and did the procedures quickly and relatively pain free. When Dr. Emory Linder began his phased-in retirement and his son Scott began taking over more and more of his dad's patients, I was just a tad anxious about the switch. But "Dr. Scott," as the super-friendly staff call him, has all the wonderful personal qualities of his dad, "Dr. Emory," AND is on top of all the newest technologies and treatment methods as well. I'm 58 years old and today was the worst dental experience I have ever had. My appointment was simple. Have a temporary crown removed and a permanent crown cemented. The temporary was removed and the dental hygienist began to clean the glue residue off my tooth. After wincing several times due to pain, then finally throwing up my hands in anger and getting out of the chair, she recommended it be numbed. Then she spent 30 minutes (or more) scraping glue off that tooth. That is a procedure that normally takes 5 minutes. I've had at least five crowns and that has always been my experience. Dr. Scott Linder walks in and asks how it is going and I said "Other than the fact that it is taking forever!" At that point he takes over and says something like, "well this looks good." They then start the process of mounting the zirconia crown. Well what they did not due correctly is clean the cement between the teeth properly before it dried. I'm now sitting in the chair for what seemed like an eternity while they repeatedly tried to floss between the new crown and the tooth next to it. They must have done this 50 times. Each time the floss broke I got jabbed in the mouth. I finally stated, "I am done sitting in this chair!" She said "fine" and walked away. No "I'm sorry" or anything. She just left. As I am heading out the door I see Scott Linder. Very angry I stated "You are going to have to adjust my bill because this is not working!" He leads me back into the room and he then spends the next 15-20 minutes trying to get the floss between my new crown. I am boiling mad at this point. Finally, after he finally dislodges the zirconia cement that is preventing the floss from working, he gets the tooth flossed and just walks out. No remorse about the miserable experience. NOTHING! He just leaves. At the reception desk, I said "I am 58 years old and this is the worst dental experience I have ever had." The lady just looked at me and said nothing. For those who plan to go to this dentist, the hygienist said my experience was common for patients getting a zirconia crown. So, that is my experience and this is the first review I have ever written on any review site. read more
