I set myself up for a letdown, not expecting his office staff to be as "warm and fuzzy" as what I've experienced in the past. Well.... they exceeded it! Not only were they super sweet to my wife & kids, they were extremely professional and upfront on what the costs of the ongoing work we would be having (no hidden costs or surprises). The office is outfitted with the most up-to-date dental technology. In fact, he uses a 3D printer (obviously more sophisticated than what can be purchased at the consumer level) to make his own Crowns in-house. I'm sold as a forever customer !

Dr. Rice reads medical journals and takes interest in new findings in dental health. 3- Patience with people who are phobic of dentists. Dr. Rice, although somewhat "dry", is an excellent dentist. He will only recommend procedures if you need them to be done, and takes the time to explain his reasoning. For example, i had a tooth with some of the dentin exposed and he explained that although filling the chip in is unnecessary, in the long run it would be wise since exposure of the sensitive part of the tooth to bacteria could increase the probability of decay. He allowed me time to consider if I wanted to do it, pressure free. Dr. Rice is a very calm dentist. He will talk you through each step of what he is doing if you have fear or anxiety about dental work. He is very logical, and most importantly I trust him as a medical professional. In my experience, he cares about his customers and takes pride in his superior craftsmanship. I go to two of the hygienists, and both are awesome! You won't get a better cleaning anywhere.

The check went fine and the dentist (Dr. Blankenship) was nice, engaging, and professional. However, I was told that the hygienist was not at work that day, so I would have to re-schedule my cleaning. They did could not re-schedule me till about 4 months out. While there I asked them if I could list my wife on their new patient list since she was under my insurance. They told me she would have to call or come in to set her up. In the mean time, my wife called their office twice to be added as a new patient. Each time there was no answer and my wife left a message. No one from the dentist office ever called her back. Four months later, I showed up for my appointment and was again told the hygienist was not at work today, so I would have to re-schedule. There was no courtesy call or text about my cancelled appointment. I travelled there, about 20 minutes away, to find out they could not do my cleaning. While I was there, I asked the receptionist about my wife telling her that my wife has called them twice with no return calls. The receptionist immediately got defensive saying she is always in the office and answers the phone, and if not, returns all calls the same day. I again told her my wife left two messages (I witnessed one of these calls and messages) and no one has called her back. The receptionist pretty much called me a liar. I will not be going back here!

There was the usual shots, grinding, and drilling- all of which were only moderately traumatic, all of it being in my head (they were great, I was just being myself). As I understand it they have laughing gas, but really, I did not need it (this from someone who demanded an epidural AFTER my daughter was born..). Awesome.

The office manager kept trying to make up excuses on the fly... it seemed like she just wanted to make sure ANYONE ELSE caught blame so that she wouldn't have to take responsibility. She was more concerned with covering her bum than being helpful. I asked that Dr. Carter call me so that we could talk out what happened and come up with a plan to rectify the mistake. Dr. Carter apparently couldn't be bothered, OR his office manager didn't pass along the message. It could be that this office manager just wanted to hide her mistakes from her boss. Regardless, this office is just dysfunctional. Life is too short to deal with folks like Dr. Carter and his meanie office manager.
