Typical Israeli menu, better than typical quality and execution. It's not quite like actually being on Ben Yehudah - no laffa, no offer to put the fries in the pita, and no amba - but I'll take it. The atmosphere is standard fast food, clean and trying so hard to be edgy. The staff is competent, neither friendly nor unfriendly, but knowledgeable about their menu and fast moving. The falafel and shawarma were both good. The size of the bowl was generous and represented pretty good value. I would suggest ordering either all rice or all lettuce rather than 50/50. I could see the rice in the bowl but the taste and texture got lost under everything else. All the salads were tasty, fresh, and crispy where appropriate. The hummus was smooth and creamy, if a little short on garlic. Actually, everything was a little short on garlic including, surprisingly enough, the toum (garlic sauce). We were divided on the fries. My partner thought they were great. I thought they were relatively average. We both agree that the serving was very large. I loved seeing the "right" kind of pickles, too. I really enjoyed the quality of the food here! I ordered using Ritual and my food was ready when I went to pick it up. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma box. It was delicious and plentiful! I have left overs that I'll be taking home for tonight. There wasn't any romaine lettuce because of the e.coli outbreak and it definitely gave me relief because who wants to potentially get sick?! Instead of romaine lettuce, I ordered a bunch of other veggies like the Jerusalem salad (cucumber salad), carrots, red cabbage, and pickles. I usually go to the other Benjyehuda which is on Laselle/Madison. The one is Wells is couple blocs far from my work place and the reason I showed up here is they had a promotion going on today ...FREE FOOD. Exactly, during lunch time all their food items on the Menu are free. The line was huge, it took around 30 minutes for us to get food which ofcourse you can't complain about when you are getting free food ...LOL. I am not sure if they are changing or ramping up their franchise, the interior and everything else with this place is entirely different from other location which I usually go. I love the vibe inside it, had quotes painted all over on the walls, fun to read. They had a DJ/music on the side during the promotion hours. The interior, which I absolutely fell in love with. Staff was very friendly even in that rush hours you can catch a smile of everyone's face. And the food, as usual if great, Flavorful and fantastic. My favorite is chicken shawarma, and of course their fries are pretty famous: Crunchy, tasty and not so greasy. I think this is my new favorite location for BenJyehuda !!! read more

Ordered lunch via the Ritual app. Order and pickup were a breeze, food was ready when I got there. The staff was very friendly. The chicken shawarma is delicious - super flavorful, tender and cooked to perfection. Just a tad of char on the outside of a few pieces. Yummy. I love the topping options they give you. Their pickles are thick cut and tangy, and the hummus is great as well. The hot sauce really packs some heat (and I have a pretty high tolerance for hot)! Everything was so fresh and tasted high quality. I don't know why, but I find it funny that a Middle Eastern place serves Merkt's cheddar with their fries. I did not try them, but may in the future! There are plenty of Middle Eastern lunch spots in the Loop, but Benjyehuda is one of the better ones in my book. read more

I rush by Benjyehuda every day and the wafts of roasting meat nudge at my soul. I gave in one late afternoon. Now, I've been here a few times. It is as good as it smells. In comparison to other build-your-own middle eastern chains, the food here, in my experiences, feels more satisfying. I'd say it is juicier. I've had both box and pita, steak and chicken. All of the toppings are fresh and excellent, but their hot sauce is what kicks the mouth party off my friends. I have to admit, I didn't feel all that healthy after eating. So, I decided to give this place another shot today, since it's cold and conveniently across the street from work. I walk in- now they offer cheese fries, that sounds pretty good right about now. I order my bowl. and I decide to get the "cheese fries" so this dude "Brian " repeats after me- "cheese fries". I hear Brian muttering something to the cashier they both laugh in front of me. This place is a shell of its former self. I discovered it in July of 2018 and it was my favorite lunch spot (I'd go twice a week) due to the good quality and large portions. Personally I thought their portions were too large for what they were charging but obviously I wasn't going to complain about more food. As months progressed I noticed little things they were doing to cut costs, like changing their cups to unbranded ones, asking if you wanted silverware in the bag, just normal and understandable cost cutting measures. Then they made a notable cut to their portions. Kind of a bummer but the food was still good and a lamb pita would still fill me up (I wasn't even able to finish it before). Then they bumped prices...then they did it again. After frequenting the place for 6+ months I was now paying ~$3 more for less food, which was enough to make me stop going religiously. I've been twice in the past 2 months, once 6 weeks ago, and again today. The pita was worse, the lamb was worse, even the Tziki sauce was worse. They always had really good fries, but those are probably worse too now. It's still a decent spot if you're looking for average Mediterranean food, but no better than Roti and probably more expensive on a per item basis. I've probably had my last meal there just because it's nothing like the place I grew to love last summer. read more

Benjyehuda offers comparable food to Roti and NafNaf, but is far superior in my opinion due to the tastes and combinations you can make. Having tried nearly all items in the menu, the play is to go with a box with mixed rice / salad, chicken, all of the toppings and a mix of the tahini and hot sauces. Maybe it's just me, but going down the line, it seems apparent that you are eating fresher / higher quality ingredients relative to the comparable restaurants. Simply put, that translates into a better tasting dish. The only downside here is that you do not get a free pita with your order as you would at the other locations - it's only a dollar extra, but something to consider. read more

This little place is a very pleasant surprise! While the seating is limited (hopefully there will be outdoor seating when it warms) it is worth coming in. I was so impressed with the freshness and quality of the food! I have tried falafel at many places, but they have the best here! So many are dry, tasteless clumps of nothing. I'm late to the party on Benjyehuda, as I've only been to this location. Still, this one barely loses out as my favorite Middle Eastern fast food joint in the Loop. Gotta love the fact that they allow you to combo here, and they offer a lot of great sauces and add-ons, as well. Lunch here is delicious, but feels a bit heavier and less healthy than Naf Naf. Nevertheless, both are great spots that I will continue to patronize. read more
