**Do NOT trust this orthopedic surgeon -- even if your arm depends on it.**
After a bad fall, I was referred here by the ER. What followed was a mess of contradictory diagnoses and complete misinformation that could've cost me the full use of my arm.
**First visit (day after injury):I was told not to wear a sling, "go live your life."
**Second visit (after MRI):Suddenly, it was keep your arm in a sling for 2 weeks, do PT, and it "should heal on its own because you're young and healthy."
**Third visit (2.5 weeks later): Now it was an emergency -- I "needed surgery immediately" or I'd "never regain range of motion."
The inconsistencies were not just confusing -- they were dangerous. He also assured me I'd be typing 2 weeks post-op and using my arm by week 4. Total fiction.
Thankfully, I got a second opinion from a highly respected orthopedic surgeon (team doctor for the LA Kings) who was shocked at what I was told. He confirmed I had a complete biceps tendon tear, a subscapularis tear, and fracture -- none of which would have healed without surgery and 6 months of structured physical therapy.
Post-op with the correct doctor, I wasn't allowed to move my arm for 2 weeks, stayed in a sling for 6 weeks and only began very limited motion by week 7. This is the real protocol for a severe shoulder injury -- not the fantasy timeline I was given.
Bottom line: This office gave me three completely different treatment plans in under three weeks, misled me about my condition, and grossly misrepresented recovery. I would not trust this surgeon with anything, let alone a serious injury. Get a second opinion -- your mobility and long-term health depend on it. read more
