This was the nicest, cleanest, newest Rug Doctor I have ever rented, and I have been renting Rug Doctor's for years, usually from various Safeway locations. The white hair lady working in the color swatch area needs to be removed immediately. Management should not put her customer facing. I came here knowing exactly what I want from the designer I'm working with. I gave her the color number and she verbally attacked my choice that I was left aghast. Here is verbatim "Why are you pick a color that's been out since 2018?" "No one is using that anymore. "In almost an accusing way. I felt personally attacked. When I said because I like it. I thought that would stop her but she continued to challenge me. "Don't you find it sad or depressing?" With her eyes still accusing me? "No it's for my bathroom and I like the color" I said again. The color was a greige color supposedly Benjamin Moores top selling color and designers choice as recent as in 2025 design articles as a nice neutral. I came here just with a simple swatch request and left feeling attacked when I didn't even ask her design opinions. I'll leave that to my designer. When I gathered my thoughts I went back ti her and said you really shouldn't work with customers. She said she's been here for 10 years! I've been here a few times. Thank goodness never ran into her in the past years. If BM wants to survive get rid of poor service. The front desk cashier guy was nice tho. read more

I've come in twice in the two years I've lived in San Francisco and both times have been nothing but pleasant and helpful! Most recently, I was assisted by Nick who made really stellar reccomendations for what I needed and helped me narrow down the products (paint and brush) that would be the best option for a inexperienced DIY-er. Positives: a neighborhood location, easy to find, and appears to have a good stock of painting supplies. Overall they seem to be informed with what they are selling. Areas of improvement: better communication. Be more transparent with customers and not be dismissive when something wrong is pointed out. To hand over less than ideal work and then literally walk away and wipe your hands from it because you "did your work" is providing the bare minimum. Not to mention it's also very disrespectful to make it clear you only care about the customer's money and not about the quality of your work or whether the customer will return. read more

It's the closest in the Neighbourhood , but not the best place to experience Joy. I am not a professional painter. Instead of consulting the Internet first, I asked one of the staff what 's the difference between a more premium brand such as Benjamin Moore vs Home Depot brands. The Sales person just shrugged his shoulders without giving me any comments. Was my question too dumb or he really didn't know? Sadly I have to go multiple times for my painting project. My usual smile fell flat out of place with zero reciprocation. Perhaps I should have offered some warm chocolates for everyone there. The only exception was a young woman with a lovely grey cat I met on a weekend day. She was actually reaching out to help. The color consult just asked me to get the small strips to help decide, rather than painting a bigger sample. When I asked about the cohesiveness of the different colors, she looked at me as if I was speaking Greek. I can't wait to get over this painting project. read more

This review is for my experience with the color consultant. She never introduced herself, and was so bothered when I asked for help. She was busy with her phone. She was rude, angry and dismissive. I needed help with color coordination, and her "help" was telling me to just pick the colors I liked. No guidance, no insight. No nothing. I told her I needed help with the undertones to pick colors, to which she was completely dismissive. Kept calling "sweetie" and telling me to pick what I liked. This review is only for the color specialist. I had been looking forward to getting some assistance with my paint choices. She is the most dismissive, rude and negative person that I have dealt with in a long time. I showed her my colors of interest and she said that will not fit and showed me one color, which I did not like. I asked her what a good white for the trim is to go with my chosen color. She said trim and ceiling should be the same color as the walls. What? And she is a color specialist? Has she never heard that sometimes trim is a different color? I still gave her a chance to help me and asked her about different paint finishes for different purposes. She told me I would have to ask a salesperson and walked away glaringly. If her intent was to make me feel bad, discouraged and disappointed she succeeded. Wow, and she has worked there for ten years! The sales associate was helpful and kind. The sales associates must be the reason the store is still in business, certainly not because of this demeaning, rude and unkind color specialist. read more

I called on Saturday morning and spoke with Nick over the phone about purchasing a gallon of paint. Nick was patient and answered all my questions since I had no clue what I was doing. Then I came in on Sunday 10min before Creative Paint closed because parking was difficult. I was greeted by a semi-rude older blonde woman who passive aggressively said,"You have 5 minutes!!" Jeeeez RUDE much?? I was then quickly helped by Tim. He helped me choose the paint, mixed it up, and I left 10min later. My interactions with Tim were 5 stars! He didn't rush me, answered my questions, and didn't force me out the store. While I was waiting for my paint, I noticed the older woman was just rude to everyone- customers and employees. We always use Benjamin Moore paints and have relied on their color specialists to assist us for over 40 years. Our experience at this location was beyond disappointing. The color specialist, Lynn, was rude and dismissive. Instead of repeating the whole experience in this review, I can sum it with this: when I said, I have 1 more question, she replied," I gave you 2 colors, that's it, we're done." Shocked, we immediately left the store. We had only been in the store about 15 minutes so we did not over stay. I recommend finding a color specialist who likes their job and knows how to treat customers. read more

This store has free color consultant available and it's a great service. I emailed Lynn the pictures of our condo furniture/wood floor and what kind natural light we get from the windows. Lynn came back with her paint color recommendation right away and we were very pleased with the color selection too. I had a great experience at Creative Paint. The color consultant immediately knew what white would compliment the color I'd chosen, and whether or not I'd need to prime an awful green wall in my apartment, and the staff helped me get everything I needed to paint my living room. I told them I was a first time painter and they basically just took me thru the shop to grab everything I'd need. Very personalized customer service. BUYER BEWARE bought paint that opened and spilled on my rugs while carrying it in the box they gave me. they refunded the cost of the paint (pennies on the dollar given their markup) but refused to cover the cost of replacing the rug which could not be cleaned as the paint dried so fast. If there's one annoying thing about me, it's that I'm a clutz. Not only do I always trip and bump into things, but I always lock myself out of my car somehow.. After locking myself out of my car countless times already, I always had a spare that I could rely on to save myself from calling AAA. During a run one day in Golden Gate Park, I lost my spares and from then on, I've been very conscious about losing the only keys I have left. To be honest, I've locked myself out of my car 3-4 times probably since, but I always found a way to save myself, hehe. My best friend has been bugging me about making spare copies in case it does happen again but y'know..I'm always lazy. After eating at the nearby restaurant Swamp, and walking back to my car, my boyfriend saw a key making sign and reminded me that I needed to make spares. He pulled me inside for a price check and turns out they actually do make car keys!! To make one copy of a key, it's only $2.50! Pretty cheap compared to the website that my best friend found for me, which was $50 (but maybe because some keys have chips inside or something according to my boyfriend). Made two keys and was out the door! Now I have a spare for each home in Hayward and SF! Yay! Not only is it cheap to make a key, but the employees here are also friendly! After we made the key, one of the guys told us to check with my car before leaving. If there was an issue, he told us to come back even though they were closing. While waiting for the key to be made, we walked around the store and this store sells a lot of paint and supplies. :) read more

The air quality is terrible and N95 masks that will actually protect your lungs from particles released from the North Bay fires are all but sold out everywhere. But I called Creative Paint and they had a few remaining. I rushed over and got one. For five dollars! The great guy who served me commented that they weren't raising their prices, just selling what they had at the prices they always had. What a great group of guys! In the age of Trump there still are honest, decent, courteous, considerate guys who provide honest services at an honest price. If I could give Creative Paint ten stars I would. Staff is always helpful and the store is well stocked - even if it is a bit more expensive than your average big box store. Great supply of beautiful colors, knowledgeable staff and lots of other extras - like key cutting. The store is fresh, airy and always impeccably clean. Good for getting down to business with all those antique restoration, room painting and sundry other items on your honey do list. They don't have nuts and bolts and other typical hardware items, fyi. read more

Not at all helpful!!!!!! Even though the store was not busy, no one approached us to see if we needed any help. My husband and I searched the selection of colors on the wall for over an hour and finally decided to try out 5 color samples at home. We were told at the check-out register that 3 of the 5 colors we chose to consider for our house painting project are not offered in exterior paint. When I asked the salesman if he could help us find similar colors in the appropriate paint, he said, "No. Paint colors are subjective, so what I see isn't relevant to your search" What....how is that helpful????!! He told us that a color consultant is there on the weekend, and we should come back then. Very doubtful that I will ever step foot in that store again. Creative Paints do better!!!!! read more

It is an old is this evening a woman in the construction industry but these guys have always steered me right and they are kind and polite to boot. I was all excited to go here after reading the reviews, but I wasn't impressed. No one was offering help, so I had to accost someone and ask. She couldn't help me, and the guy who could answer my questions didn't seem at all interested in helping me. He kept running around from other task to other task. I waited until all of the wealthy old wives cleared out, and stayed after closing to get some info. That would seem like good service, yes? Except it shouldn't have been necessary in the first place. No full spectrum paints here, at least they have Aura. The younger guy who talked with me in between was very friendly, low stress, and took his time with me. I wish the rest of the employees would take a page from his book. read more

I've made four trips here in the last week, and a few years ago I did several others, and I tried other paint stores who were super unfriendly and unhelpful, and these guys are totally amazing. I'm SO thankful for their advice, friendly attitude, patience--and even though it's a little jaunt from home, I always seem to be able to find parking within a block or two. This local neighborhood paint and hardware store has serviced the Richmond district for many years. I have always found items for small and large household repairs. And if I cannot locate it here, the staff recommends a local source where you can find it. The big plus for many homeowners here is that they feature Benjamin Moore Paints. . I mistakenly purchased 3 gallons of a paint color - only to find that the coverage only needed 1 gallon. . .fortunately I sold the other gallons to a neighbor who loved my cafe wall color. . whew! read more

I went in today to look at paint chips and buy a paint brush. I waited around in the general area of the cash register/counter while others were being helped... and then waited some more even though one worker was free to ring me up. when i was finally helped i got great advice on which paint brush to buy and tips on how to clean it. Very thoughtful and good service but be prepapred to get assertive to get that service. btw: if you forgot your red leather covered note-pad in the paint area, i left it with someone at the counter. read more

I'm not a pro by any means and made a mistake when ordering what paint I wanted, but they did the work to correct it and I'm very grateful for that! Was a huge price difference between what I asked for and what I needed, so be sure to tell them how many walls you need painted before buying hundreds of dollars of paint. I came here one Saturday to get a custom-made wood stain. While I wasn't ultimately happy with how the furniture turned out (I didn't like the color), the folks at Creative Paints were very, very helpful in guiding me towards the right products--even saving me from using an outdoor stain that would have made me ill.
