I researched the reviews of many companies and obtained multiple estimates. My final decision to select Leesburg Decks was easy. Above all I felt the most comfortable with Scott and how he patiently detailed all of my design plans and provided a few of his own that really brought the project together. The project consisted of a 16' x 14' screened porch and an attached 26' x 12' open deck using Trex, aluminum rails and PVC wrapping, porch fan, LED lighting on the open deck and 6 steps leading down to a small ground platform also made with Trex. Lattice wrapped the entire deck with landscape timbers and landscape stones. Each day the crew arrived early and cleaned the area before departing. Scott's crew was very professional and worked hard to complete the the project in approximately 3 weeks. Along the way I asked for a few minor changes in the design and Scott was able to easily work them in. At each major step Scott quickly obtained the necessary county permits and checked on the progress every day. I highly recommend contacting Leesburg Decks to anyone looking to add a deck or porch.

He took over an hour to measure everything and sent me the lumber quote he received so that I was fully informed, then we talked labor. He would point out problematic areas (like rotting framing) and would ask me if I wanted to have it replaced rather than just covering it up with the new surface. He did an amazing job that had my mom's tenants and the neighbors complementing the work and I felt the price was very reasonable. Based on that job, I brought him out to take a look at my townhouse to possibly replace the siding and he suggested sanding, priming and painting instead due to the price of replacement. They sanded almost every square inch of it, primed it (in some areas twice) with a peeling paint primer that is like glue to fill in gaps and keep the rest of the old paint from peeling, and then put a double coat over everything. When they finished, I was surprised to find that they had power washed our patio, porch, and front half-height fence and even painted the fence though we never talked about doing any of that work. I felt compelled to pay him extra. Deck Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wELQYf0YGKY

I called several deck builders and deck repair companies, including Loudoun Deck Repair, to get some ideas and estimates to repair and possibly expand the deck. After speaking with those companies, I decided to call Loudoun Deck Repair. Keith Bohlayer, the owner of the company. listened to my requirements and was able to stop by later that evening for a visual inspection and consultation. Keith had some great ideas that provided me with a lot more information to consider for the project. He followed up with a detailed estimate later that evening. After a thorough review of his proposal, I decided to work with Loudoun Deck Repair...and I am very happy I did. As the project progressed, I expanded the scope based on Keith's recommendations. I am very impressed by the work Keith performed, and so are walkers and joggers in the neighborhood as they pass by my house every day. I have received countless comments about the beautiful wood work, and the uniqueness of Keith's repair and design work. It has been a big hit! My wife and I are absolutely delighted with our renovated deck. What was equally impressive is how easy it was to work with Keith and Ann through all phases of the project...scheduling the consultation, receiving their proposal, signing the contract, and performing the work. We also appreciated how neat and clean the work area was throughout the entire construction process. Our yard was totally accessible and clean at the end of each work day...with everything neatly tucked away until the next work day! I plan to use Loudoun Deck Repair again in the future. Based on responses from my neighbors, I am sure they will receive many more requests for proposals in the near future. Thank you Keith and Ann. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with you. We did our due diligence and looked at neighbors' decks who had gone with VA Deck and Patio AND who had gone with other competitors. From that moment, comparing the quality, we knew we had to go with VA Deck & Patio because their quality was so much better than the others. The corners are square and everything is flush and matches up perfectly. We reached out to Mike, the owner, and communicating with him was great through the entire process. Even if sometimes it took a day or two to respond, after having him build our deck- we know why!! He was out here every day 7:30am- at least 5pm (most nights until 6:30). So to the other reviewer who said something about Mike being non-responsive, it's because he was working his TAIL off building someone's deck for 12 hours in a day. And as that person whose deck was being built perfectly this past week, I'm grateful he didn't leave the job site to check voicemails or respond to emails because that means he was focusing on building our awesome deck- and the end product showed that! And after he finished our deck last night at 7pm, he headed to start another the next morning, just 12 hours later! The quote we received was also less expensive than the competitors--- better/equal price and MUCH better quality...no brainer!! They also 100% handled EVERYTHING for pulling permits, etc. AND did our entire HOA application from start to finish- we didn't have to do anything. That was no extra charge- he just takes care of it! Such a relief! The crew are all employees of the company, not random trades that come in and out. We had the same crew all week, they were SO friendly and you can tell they all take great pride in their work. VA Deck and Patio doesn't just outsource the work - it's all folks who are skilled in this trade and work together day in and day out. Their attention to detail was so fantastic; I even saw Mike shop vacuuming our grass! There wasn't even anything there to pick up- he just wanted to be sure. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars- I will be recommending this company everywhere I go. We were so nervous to choose a company- a deck is a BIG investment!! Virginia Deck & Patio was courteous, prompt, respectful crew, quality-focused, used a level on literally every single beam (meticulous!), responsive, and also FRIENDLY! The communication throughout the entire process was outstanding. Not once did we feel anything less than a top priority. Texts were answered within an hour, and emails were always returned within hours. That level of responsiveness gave us complete confidence and peace of mind. Mike, Pavlo, and Wade were the primary builders, and they were phenomenal. They treated us like rock stars during the entire three-and-a-half-week build. Mike, the lead carpenter, took the time to explain every phase of the project in detail, which my wife and I truly appreciated. Whitmer Decks removed our old deck and built a beautiful new 14x12 screened porch, along with a 10x10 deck and staircase. I'm no professional photographer, but the results speak for themselves--we are absolutely thrilled. We can't wait for warmer weather so we can fully enjoy our stunning new space.
