Creative Exteriors Plus

If anyone needs to have a deck built, I can strongly recommend Agustin Fuentes and Creative…read moreExteriors Plus. We needed to have our old deck rebuilt in 2026, and we found Agustin via personal recommendation. From the very beginning he was more responsive than other contractors we were exploring, and he even made some suggestions that improved the design while keeping costs low. His crew worked quickly and did a great job (even in hot, muddy conditions). Agustin even checked back with us after the completion of the job to make sure that we had not encountered any issues. I would definitely work with him again.

The project was completed as planned, exceeded my expectations and was done to my satisfaction. The entire team was professional and easy to work with. They answered all my questions and concerns during the process. The team was very neat and respectful of my home. The crew provided meticulous attention to detail and communication during the process was clear. They cleaned up the work area everyday after they completed their task. There were small cost overruns, but they were reasonable. I would contact them without hesitation for another job. The professionalism helped ease the stress of such a large endeavor. I am excited about enjoying my new outdoor space. I was pleased with the outcome and would highly recommend Creative Exteriors Plus.

Hauptman Builders - Custom Hand built bookcases throughout our home

We heard of them through a realtor who worked with them for another client. They gave Hauptman glowing reviews which were fully met and justified with our build. We cannot speak highly enough about the team of craftsmen that work for Hauptman. They are professional, personable and highly skilled individuals that gave our home many small but important custom finishes that we enjoy daily. Custom finishing and materials takes time to put into place and cannot be rushed. Hauptman has been in the business of building for decades and has solid relationships with all of the subcontractors required to build a home. This also attests to the type of builder that Hauptman is. When we had an issue post build with our fireplace, the contractor immediately came out and resolved it for us, replacing the defective part. First class service all the way. When we realized after our roof had been fully shingled that we needed a patio cover/roof for shade, Bill drew up 4 different options for us to choose from and seamlessly attached the sloped patio roof to our existing home structure. It looks like it was part of the original design and not the after thought that it was. Hauptman is a builder that values integrity in everything that they say and do. Their prices are very fair for this locale's market. Bill and team demonstrated a patience working with my needs for handicap features throughout our home and exceeded all of our expectations. IF you are looking for a builder that has the respect and appreciation of not only his clients but also his colleagues, give them a call. We cannot recommend them highly enough!

Emerald Landscaping - Proposal for additional work.

Emerald Landscaping

Emerald Landscaping has been our steady landscaping company at my office for a long time now and we…read morecouldn't be more grateful for their service! What's the most special part that we have seen with the crew that works here is the extra attention to details. I planted bulbs myself and a few other plants that Emerald did not put in over the years at my office. In essence, they could have just pulled out my plants as they don't match the existing shrubs and I'd have no right to complain. However, they did not. After carefully removing all of the mulch, the crew lovingly re-mulched around my bulbs and it could not look any more fantastic. Right now, someone is giving these spring bulbs even extra water and love. I am sure any other commercial landscaping company would have just ripped them out and mulched over it as fast as possible, to get to the next job. The gentlemen that show up here are very polite and professional too. They really go the extra mile and take pride in their work and it shows. Also, super fast snow removal too!

Emerald Landscaping completed gutter drainage work for our home in the Fall of 2025. At the time…read moreof completion, the work seemed to be completed up to specifications. Unfortunately, at the start of summer 2026 it was clear that the drains could not handle heavier summer rains. One of the drains had water gushing out of the cleanup valve (photo). The follow-up communication with Emerald was underwhelming. They declined to help me troubleshoot the issue unless I paid a $98 site visit fee. Instead, they proposed additional work to rectify the issue without acknowledging that the work was not completed correctly in the first place. Their "proposal" is comical- it looks like something my 5 year old would draw (photo). I've since redone the work myself with a drain that is properly sloped. I've also included photos of a leaky downspout they would not acknowledge along with an upgrade I did myself with $50 in parts from Home Depot.

Town & Country Asphalt - Replaced driveway

Town & Country Asphalt

We had limited our initial search to companies that had received four our more Yelp stars, but a…read morerelative of Scott and Brandy suggested that we give them a call. Scott came by the next day to take a look and give us a quote. They were one of the only two companies who didn't think we needed to remove and replace the gravel base, which shaved a couple of grand off the estimate. They were also locally based, which was an advantage, as I didn't envision the other bidders wiling to drive all the way from Virginia or Frederick County to do any small remedial patchwork if needed. After writing a check for the deposit, it took a couple of weeks for them to perform the work - rain and a stoppage at the asphalt company were understandably beyond their control. Their crew showed up in the morning, removed and carted away the old cracked asphalt, broke up some the dirt berms that had formed alongside the driveway over the years, filled a couple of small depressions, poured several inches of new asphalt, and hand-crowned the edges to ensure rain runoff, all before the kids came home from school. It's been a year since they did the work (I wanted to give the driveway time to properly cure before writing a review), and despite having three cars using the driveway on a daily basis, there's been no slippage of the pavement nor any depressions on the surface, which makes me wonder whether the other contractors were padding their quotes.

We and our neighbors contracted Town & Country Asphalt to pave our shared driveway in August, 2026…read more After 2 months of them repeatedly claiming they would complete the job and then not showing up, we requested they return our deposit. They have NOT done so and have stopped responding to calls and texts. We've also discovered their business license is not active. We are now having to pursue legal action in the hopes of recovering our substantial amount of stolen money. That is the TLDR; but I'm including the full story for veracity's sake, and to prevent Scott and Brandy (the couple who run the company) claiming it never happened. August 2026 we and our two neighbors contracted with T&CA to pave our shared driveway and paid them the deposit. They stated they'd be able to start work within 1-2 weeks. September 14th they finally said they could start the job "sometime next week" but never got back to me when I asked them to confirm the exact day. It wound up raining that week so I didn't think too much of it. September 23rd they asked if "next week" would work, I said yes and asked what day. They said "probably Tuesday." I asked them to let me know as soon as they had a confirmed day. At this point they completely ghosted me. October 1st - 8th I called and texted several times with no response. Now we were starting to get a bad feeling and did some digging. We discovered that the Maryland Department of Labor license number they had on the contract did not pull up any active business license. One of our neighbors was able to get in touch with them and arranged a meeting under the pretense of giving them more money. 10/13/26 we met with Scott at our property. When we confronted him with the inactive business license and questions about the delays and failure to communicate, he denied everything to our faces. We stated we were no longer comfortable hiring them, and requested they refund our deposit. He agreed (in writing) that he would drop off checks by October 15th and we parted ways. 10/15/26 came and went with no money returned, with Scott again ignoring my calls and texts. Then Brandy texted me from a new number (even though Scott had denied her changing her number when I asked about that as a reason for them not responding to me) claiming a family emergency (which again, Scott had not brought up as a reason for their delays/miscommunication). She claimed that she was out of state and Scott was not on the business account as someone who could make out checks, so there was no way they could drop off checks. If true, Scott must have known this and been lying about planning to bring us checks. Brandy claimed she would mail checks. Wanting to avoid a lost-check claim situation, we immediately told her we did NOT want our checks mailed. I proposed they could return our money by Venmo or Paypal, deducting the fee from what they owed us so that they would have no more excuses. They then ghosted us again. 10/22/26 I texted that we would be pursuing legal action if they did not respond and return our money. Brandy responded briefly that "I'll have the refund to you by Tuesday." Tuesday came and went with no refund, with Brandy and Scott again failing to respond to texts/calls. At this point, we are forced to conclude that they never intended to return our money OR pave our driveway.
