It's 2/15/23 couldn't get in on the 14th I've never been to Benihana. This is where my girlfriend wanted to go. Andrew was my server food and service was excellent. This is more than I want to spend so the experience was fun but can't do it for a while. This was for me, my girlfriend and my daughter. The bill came out to $237 w/a 22% tip equals 38,85 but when I looked on my ticket they put $42.72 don't know how that happened, but they corrected it. so the experience was great. Food was great, but look at your ticket really close before you pay it read more

Visiting the Downey location was the best choice for a birthday dinner. Was seated within the first 5 minutes of arriving, our waiter Nick was quick to bring out any beverages and appetizers we ordered before the big dinner show. Our chef was great as well, was accommodating to each of our specific orders. And the complimentary family photo was very nice touch for this birthday celebration. Plenty of parking as well in this promenade. read more

Bad customer service. They tricked me. I was over charged by almost $100. They charged me for rice and a plate that I didn't order

This is the Soul Plane of Benihana. lol! Slightly slow service, But Chef Chris was amazing. Food was great as usual!!

This was my worst experience EVER. My party of 7 arrived to Benihana expecting a wonderful evening to celebrate a birthday in honor or my granddaughter. Our entree came with soup and salad. The soup was cold. It took over 1 hour and 40 minutes for the chef to arrive at our table. There were at least 3 other people who arrived after my party was seated that received their cooked meal prior to our chef arriving to the table. The delay in receiving my food in a timely manner, caused my blood sugar to drop very low. I asked to speak with the manager to explain my dissatisfaction with the service and Jovanni was the manager for the night. He did not offer any type of apology or appeared to be concerned about my situation. I was in awe that a manager of such an establishment like Benihana could be so cold and unconcerned. Although this visit was not my first, but it was the worst. If I could give 0 stars for my visit, I would have. read more

We had a reservation for 6 people today at 645. We arrived on time with our entire party and were told there will be a 45 min wait before we are seated. Unacceptable and disappointing. read more

Made a reservation a week in advance. Got there and still waited over an hour. Orders were incomplete and food came out extremely late once we were finished. POOR service. Chef was excellent and friendly. For a high price, you expect excellent service all around. I can see why they have a low rating. read more

Stephany was my server today and she was absolutely wonderful. Service was impeccable. Definitely still be back.

Service: Started off great with a genuine welcome and enthusiastic "happy birthday"! Wait time: We had a reservation but were seated 20 minutes after reservation time... Ok, I'm not upset or annoyed yet. Sit down, ordered our food, server was okay but was too busy to flag down most of the night. We got our onion soup 0/5, our salad 1/5, edamame 1/5 and our drinks in a decent time. We had the mango lemonade and strawberry lemonade, both 1/5. Then we waited and waited and waited. We were seated with this huge family because it was only us two. Our whole table waited for well over 1.5 hours before a cook came to grill our food before our eyes. Disregard the fact that it's my birthday. But do not disregard the fact that things should be done in a timely manner. I was exhausted from working all day, then going to have dinner but having to wait almost a total of two hours before having the food cooked before us. Even then, the cook served the big party in the table before he served us. It's okay. We are all hungry. Point is, the wait time is ridiculous. The beef and chicken 5 course meals were a 2.5/5 stars for both. I was not too impressed at all. More like over priced rice bowl meals. I get it, it's the experience you're paying for, not the overpriced fried rice with some meat. However, the experience was not good at all. The show, the service, all not up to par. Our first time and last time ever coming here. We paid $150 for 2 meals. We knew it would be overpriced but we said just to say we have been and tried it at least. Yeah, ummm.... never again. Reservation at 730pm, didn't leave until a little past 10. read more

Chef Christopher killed it. Mushrooms to die for. Steak & chicken cooked to perfection.

I love Benihana but this location isn't it. There's a reason why this one has the most reservation times available compared to others in OC. I should have known... but that's what we get for a day-before reservation. If you end up coming here, be prepared to WAIT. Don't come hungry because you will be so hangry. We had a reservation at 7 and had to wait to be seated. We waited even more for a server to come by to get our drink orders and she said that the "chef will be out shortly". Time goes by... 7:30: we placed our entree orders. An order of chicken comes out for our table mate and she sends it back because it's dry. It comes back out after 20-30 minutes and it's THE SAME plate of chicken but with more sauce. That was a whole ordeal and the whole table witnessed that. 8:05: We asked the manager who handled the chicken fiasco when our chef was going to arrive because 1hr is not "shortly". He casually says that we placed our order at 7:30 and it's standard for a 45 minute wait for the chef. 45 minutes from ordering is CRAZY to me! Mind you, your food will not be ready when the chef arrives because they need to cook it. I was hangry. 8:17: Our chef, Ricky finally appears and turns our mood around with his skills. Ricky is the saving grace of this location and the stars are for him. The food was as expected but the wait and management really left a bad taste in my mouth. My friends had some promotional gift cards to use and the manager said you could only use one card per entree... except it didn't state that anywhere on the card nor promotional offer so that came out of nowhere. Luckily, they made it work for us. We also didn't get the hot tea included in our meals until we asked. By that time it was the end of the meal, so make sure you ask in the beginning! (Except we shouldn't have had to ask at all) read more

This review is long overdue, we dined her for my bfs dads birthday. Chef Kelonnie was great. He was very energetic despite being later in the night. He made our experience a memorable one. Our food tasted great and our server was attentive. We normally have leftovers and this time was no different. I would recommend making reservations to assure your desired wait time. read more

I'm still im shock about our experience at Benihana this afternoon. It was our first time there and I don't plan on going again. We got sat at 1:00pm and we are barely heading home at 4:30. Getting our food was the longest wait, two other guest left the table due to the long wait. When the chef finally came out, the food was great and that's the only reason I'm giving two stars. Other than that, I hope they fix their service and their understaffed issue. The wait was insane, it's not worth it! I promise! read more

Great service and happy employees. Plenty of parking in a plaza. Went there for a group lunch. I found out there is a lunch special until 2 PM. Lunch special is half the price of dinner and a third less food which is fine. It does come with either a soup or salad. Delicious and quality for my filet mignon. Reservations are a must. I would definitely return for lunch again. read more

Monday-21 April 25-18:19hours-Downy, Ca. Today, 2 of my favorite people took me to Benihana's for my birthday, where our talented Teppanyaki Chef, Christopher G. demonstrated some very impressive knife skills, not to mention excellent seasoning ability to the point where even someone that doesn't eat them, said the Mushrooms tasted great (and asked for more). Though the restaurant was super busy; Evelyn, our dynamite Server, made sure we lacked for nothing, quickly refilling drinks and inquiring about any other needs we might have had, even when taking orders from another table...We're talking "seamless" performance! This location is very attractive, easily accessed from the 105 freeway and has plenty of parking The staff pays attention to details and are very quick to get appetizers to the table in the right temperature range (hot items are hot, and cold items are cold). This location is family friendly, but I would caution parents with children that are sound sensitive to bring "noise canceling" headphones, as the atmosphere is quite loud with the vents directly above each station. I highly recommend this particular location, and will be visiting again soon. read more

Went to Benihana today for Mother's Day. The staff and service were great. A bit expensive but the food was good. Portions could have been bigger but it was still a good experience. The Manager Oscar and his staff kept it Kool for us. He was really friendly and handled the rush very well. He kept informing us when our table would be ready and came back to greet me serval times. The Tempura Shrimp was delicious. Our server was very attentive and made sure we were taken care of. Chico our chef was very good and funny the food tasted just right. I'd be happy to return here in the near future. read more
