The scheduling process was very easy when you go to the Benefit website, as well, as in person with their QR code. Stephanie did my brow lamination and wax/trim. She was very professional, listened to my concerns, and took her time with the process. She was also gentle with the waxing! She also gave great advice on aftercare, including not washing my brows for 24 hours after, and using clear brow gel. It is helpful to bring an inspo pic to your appointment, but even without it, Stephanie made my brows look great! I would highly recommend her if you're interested in Benefit's services! read more

I had to write a review for this brow bar ! I love coming here. It's not just about getting your brows done it's about the expierence ! I feel so pampered and excited to get my brows done everytime. But i have to take a second to talk about my brow girl Justine ! HIGHLY RECOMMEND !! I have naturally very thin and blonde eyebrows. I always fill them in due to this. I use to always get my brows waxed a certain way to make filling them in easier, until i started seeing Justine. Sondra was amazing. She was soooo patient and understanding. I've had my brows butchered a lot in the past so I'm pretty anxious the I get my brows done. The first thing she did was mapped out my brows, seriously, I can't believe other places don't do that! She then asked how I like my brows, I told her natural with a slight arch. She did like I explained. It wasn't to my liking and not what I was used to seeing when I had asked for this in the past. She asked me to show her what the differences were. She then explained that what I was actually requesting was a lean brow with an arch! I was mind blown. I guess the people who did my eyebrows before just did whatever... I was so glad that she told me so I can actually request what I wanted. Sondra then took out the concealer and covered up part I wanted to see off just to make sure it was what I wanted. I said yes that's what I like but I wasn't sure. I asked her if she can wax the other side so I can see and it was perfect!!!! This was the most relaxing and non-stressful eyebrow experience of my life. After she asked if I would like any product on my brows and I said yes. She asked me how I liked my brows to look, which was awesome because other places just filled them in they way they want to, and on top of that she put concealer on my red spots so I didn't have to walk around the mall looking red. This review is just for Vanessa!! And definitely a long overdue review. I was so glad I met Vanessa during my time in college at Davis because she is so amazing! Most people don't really know how to properly shape eyebrows on Asians but Vanessa does such a good job. She always listens to my concerns about my brows, does a great job with them, never rushes, and always pays attention to detail. She is also so sweet and personable, always making conversation which shows just how much she cares about her customers. I tend to associate Benefit with loud names and mediocre products. So I was surprised when the Brow Bar opened several years ago. Then I was even more surprised when I tried the brow wax. The services are still consistently good enough that I stop by occasionally. I've only tried the brow services but they also wax the chin and above the lip. And I love that the esthetician can use Benefit makeup to hide the fact that my skin becomes bright red after waxing. I like the atmosphere at the Benefit counter. The crowds and noise distracts me from the pain. Furthermore, the estheticians and sales clerks are very friendly. They're also persuasive. I have to remind myself that spending $18 for a brow wax isn't a good price if I also buy a $28 blush. read more

Just glad it is not permanent. I gave two stars because the girl who did my brow tint was very nice, and I have never gotten a tint before so I cannot compare. I also obviously did not pay great attention when she explained the process, otherwise I would have checked my brows before they "developed". I was there because my mother wanted to buy brow wax. The sales girl told me about tinting, and since we were there early in the am, they could take me without an appointment. What I do know is that my brows are now fuller, but completely uneven. Not only is the shaping different, one brow is about 1 cm longer than the other, with the tail looking like I did it with magic marker. They are much darker than my natural brow, so it already looks starker than before. I thought the Brow Bar has brow experts, and maybe waxes are different than tints....I am covering it up, and hope it really only lasts 3-4 days on the skin. read more

The person who was supposed to do my brows called out today which would be no big deal, except I got no notification. Quite frustrating to get off work early so I could be there in time and drive through Arden Mall's crazy parking lot only to find out it was for nothing. She is also a total sweetheart. I will still stand by my last review in that the girls can be very caddy. I don't get it. I have never ever gotten my brows done before because I was worried that I would not have anymore eyebrow hair after getting them shaped. Luckily, my friend knew that I wanted to get them shaped and got me a brow wax certificate for $10 off my brow wax. I was hesitant and even had it in my wallet for 4 months before I finally decided to use it. The problem with my brows are that they are very sparse and my eyebrow hairs are not dark. I decided to book an appointment and I was lucky enough to get my brow done by Alexis. I arrived 15 minutes earlier (that usually never happens cause I'm always late), but I sat down at the Benefit beauty area and looked around the cosmetics that they had for display. I was greeted by several associates there to ensure that I had gotten the help already. Alexis was busy with another client and once she was done, she came over to acknowledge me and told me she needed to clean up her station and would be with me in just a second. I was nervous about getting my brows done and once she called me over, I informed her that it was my first time ever getting my brows done. She talked over with me about what type of brow shape I wanted and explained to me that she was going to wax them slightly to get the shape, then we could try to make it thinner if I wanted. She used these thin popsicle sticks to get the wax on my eyebrows and it felt warm. Alexis rubbed the waxing paper on my skin and wa-la. It did it's job and it did not even hurt at all! I was so surprised because even waxing my legs at home hurt a whole lot! Alexis was really friendly and talked to me on a personal level as if we were friends. She was really approachable and informative. We talked a bit about how she got into doing brows and also informed me that she had the perfect products to help me fill my eyebrows in. Before I knew it, she worked her magic and got my brow shape already. I was excited to see my brows because I have never really seen a shape before~ I held up the mirror and was so shocked that she was able to work with my sparse little eyebrows and actually gave me a shape from it! We talked a bit more and she was already working on the next brow. She was really fast and efficient. She was not rushing necessarily, but you could tell that she was very experienced. After getting my brows done, I was asking her if my face was red all over from waxing and she said no and was quite surprised since it was my first time getting them waxed. We moved onto filling in my brows and cleaning them up. She informed me about the great Gimme Brow product which has little microfibers in it to make the brows look more voluminous. Also, she suggested the Gimme Brow Pencil which has a spooly on the other end so it would prevent the harsh lines from the pencil. I held the mirror and watch Alexis fill in my brows which trying to teach me. You could tell that she was very passionate and excited to educate me about the process. She filled them in and was prepared with a concealer to help me clean up my brows. She asked if I wanted to do the other brow myself which was really helpful because I was able to see how dark I should draw the lines. Alexis looked away while I was doing my eyebrows so that I did not feel too pressured. Of course being an amateur, my brow didn't look as good as the one she drew. She praised me and said that it was really good and helped me touch it up a little. She then used concealer to help me clean up the area and I was so shocked that I had my brows on "fleek" for once. I am so grateful that Alexis was so helpful and gave me the brows that I never had. I would totally recommend anyone trying to get their brows done by Alexis as she is very friendly and approachable. I just need to return to purchase some more brow products and I should be good to go for the next several weeks. read more

After trying many places for the perfect brows, this is the only place I will go to! Nancy is the best!!! My eyebrows are really hard to work with since they grow downwards and long. They trim your eyebrows and shape them. Once done they will even touch up the redness so you don't walk around the mall like your sunburnt just in the eyebrow region. Apparently I must be one hairy little beast because this is probably the second or third review I've written about hair or hair removal. Benefit Cosmetics, located inside Macys at Arden Fair Mall, offer waxing services. It's called the Brow Bar and the girls do an amazing job. The prices are fairly reasonable and I usually stop by at the counter for a quick wax job after I'm done with shopping. The only downside is that the waxing is done in front of EVERYONE, so it can be a little embarrassing. And just to warn you, some people do watch you as you're getting it done! And its pretty funny to see people wince as the aesthetician removes the strip of wax from your brow. Your face will turn red afterwards, but rest assured that they will apply makeup on you so you don't go walking around the mall looking like a lobster. It's been gaining popularity over the years so expect a wait in line to get an appointment. So sign up ahead of time and do a little shopping around the mall before your appointment. *** For Asians: Our eyebrows are a little different as they tend to grow downward. Most often a lot of non-asians do not do our brows the correct way. So in this case, I recommend Brooke. She's a master at trimming eyebrows and does a good job with mine *bats eyelashes*. Speaking of eyes, our eyelashes tend to grow straight down as well. In this case, I recommend Shu Uemura eyelash curler and their Basic Mascara, which is basically a dry mascara that does not weigh down your lashes. I decided that this weekend, I needed a little work on my brows. So, I hopped in my car, drove out of my way to Arden to the brow bar. Went in at 6 PM this past Friday (02.26.10) for a walk in like I normally do (I have done a walk in a few times and have never been turned away and I have made appointments in the past only to be skipped over 3 times while I was waiting 5 feet away). I have always been told that they are open till about 8pm-ish and I don't need an appointment. The crappy music was still playing loud, lots of girls hanging out around the register (seriously, 5 girls needed to check out ONE person?!) and chatting. There were a few people still getting their brows fixed (one in the chair and another one getting "made over")... I walked to the flock of girls and said that I am here for a waxing but was told that they are not taking any more for the night; no reason was told to me. The flock of girls laughed at me as I walked out, one kept saying "I'm sorry" with the most insincere tone that I have ever heard as I walked away. What a waste of a night, speaking since I planed my evening around this. I will never go back to this location. I might give the Roseville location a try, but I have a feeling that I will get the same "respect" that I got that night. I have dealt with these girls (I say that because I bet I was older then all of them and act more grown up then them too.) snarky and smug attitude too many times. I will not pay for some over priced wax job that comes complete with a "make over" that makes me look worse then a hooker on Auburn Blvd. Peace out, Benefit. My life is a mess. Not in a serious way, not in a buzzkill way, not in a Lifetime movie way, not in a my grandfather molested me and my mom is in jail and my five-year-old is autistic and by the way, I'm seventeen kinda way; it's more like that neurotic somewhat attractive but not threateningly so with potential for tremendous growth that no one quite sees, romantic comedy oh she's cute but why can't she get her act together way, and oh yeah, she's a grad student and teaches high school English. That having been said, you would have thought that when my god-sister asked me to be in her wedding, I would have been crazy to say yes... which is exactly what I said. In light of all this, my personal care regimen has suffered, and the area feeling the brunt of neglect was my tired, furrowed little brow. I stressed for days about how I would ever manage to squeeze in an appointment at the brow bar last week. I called three times, scheduling and canceling appointments, when finally I decided on the morning before my 1:45pm flight and I could shoot in and score a walk-in wax with an aesthetician. I felt the pressure so badly that when I stepped out of my car in the parking lot, I ran into Macy's hoping not to lose precious seconds during which someone might get in front of me in "line." When I got there, holding back foolish panting, I was third in line with a ten minute wait. I stared at the eye shadow for a good two minutes when my aesthetician, Misty, said she was ready for me. Me: "Uh... REALLY?" There was something about Misty that made me feel really comfortable with her. She was very professional without being stuffy; she was helpful without being pushy. She tried to give me everything I wanted without inundating me in products I didn't want. Every question I asked was answered clearly and politely. I tend to be a do-it-yourselfer when it comes to my brows, and Misty's patience really assuaged my... well, embarrassment. I must preface my overall wallet burn by noting that I spent a total of $600 of my hard-earned student loan money on this wedding, so these fifteen minutes of ruddy-faced refreshment were minimal. I've been going to various Benefit Brow Bars since they first opened, but this one is by far my favorite, quality-wise. I usually go on Sunday mornings and have never had to wait long (if at all). I believe that you get what you pay for, so if you want to throw the dice and pay less than $20 to get your eyebrows waxed, don't complain when you end up looking like a freak until they grow out. I have auburn hair with light eyebrows, so I have rarely paid much attention to them. No one seems to notice whether I pluck or not, so I had been letting them grow out for months. In town for my sister's wedding, and not wanting to pluck from scratch, I turned to Yelp for a good place to get a wax. They didn't have an appointment until 11:15, but the woman on the phone suggested I walk in as soon as the store opened at 10, and sure enough--they were able to fit me in as soon as the wax heated up. WOW! I got more than I had expected! Who knew I had an arch! I've had my brows waxed half a dozen times in the past, but all they ever seemed to do was clean up the strays. I felt like the woman created a work of art, trimming and waxing and plucking my brows into a beautiful shape I never knew could exist on my face, short of shaving them off and drawing them in with a sharpie! ;o) She asked if I would like her to fill them in when she was done, and even though I don't normally do that, I let her go ahead. That really finished off the look for me. I left with natural-looking brows with a perfect arch, where I previously had none. My boyfriend didn't notice, but my sister and mother both commented on how much it opened my eyes, and I fully agree. This is definitely something I am going to keep up. $20 is the most I've ever spent for an eyebrow wax, but it was truly a steal for the difference it made. So after looking in the mirror and noticing my eyebrows looked like something you would graph on a calculator (and that's not a good thing), I decided it was time for a good old fashioned eyebrow wax to make everything even again. After enduring the horrible trauma of looking like Chewbacca for a month, I needed a new brow waxing place. My last place decided that skin wasn't meant to be attached and ripped off a huge chunk. So, I was a little nervous about trying a new place. I heard about the Benefit Brow Bar online so on Wednesday afternoon around 4:00 pm, I hightailed it over to Arden Fair Mall inside Macy's. I ducked behind the counters to avoid the perfume girls and followed the big pink sign to the brow bar. There was no wait, and the sales associates were happy to help me. Which, for me, is a first because I ALWAYS get ignored at high end makeup counters because I am not wearing the latest fashions. That was a plus. The esthetician's name was Kirk, and he was super nice. He took the time to make them even and showed me a few products to help, but NO hard sell. I did end up buying stuff because I like sparkly things, but it wouldn't have been a big deal if I didn't. I was lucky as the store was mostly empty, and I was seated in a corner type spot. I don't think I would've cared anyway, we all have eyebrows! They don't grow in perfect little arches naturally people! Now a bikini wax would be a different story - ha ha! So if you're a little shy about people watching you, be warned. Afterwards, the nice sales associate put foundation and powder on me so I could continue shopping and then rang me up. The brow wax was $18 and she gave me a little tip envelope for Kirk which I put $5 in. Kirk also gave me little mascara wands to use to brush my eyebrows with and keep them in line. Extremely unhappy with my brow service today. I should've listened to a few Yelpers who spoke of having their eyebrows thinned out too much. Being the money-saver that I am, I thought I'd put my Macy's gift card to good use and get my brows done "professionally" here. Sadly, I was gravely wrong and this is one of my biggest regrets in a while. My first warning should have been when I sat in the chair with a line of drop-ins behind me. The beautician told another girl, "Oh don't worry this is only going to take 5 minutes... I'm very fast." Uh... I'm not expecting a rushed job here! But sadly that is what she did. My brows came out SUPER THIN. I've NEVER thinned out my brows before. My brows are symmetrically full in comparison to my face. I've NEVER had anyone change the thickness, just a clean-up and shaping. I was SHOCKED when I looked into the mirror and I could literally see where all the hair USED to be. In addition, the cut of my brows to shorten its length was so choppy. I could've down a better job with a regular pair of scissors! Not to mention, one of my brows is thicker than the other! WTF?!?!!?? Mind you, everyone there is friendly and they fill your brow with makeup and stuff. But, honestly, it's almost like they're using the makeup to cover up their screw up! I wholeheartedly do NOT recommend ever visiting this Brow Bar, unless you're expecting to thin out your bushy brows. Because if you are, then this is the place for you! I'm not sure if the girls are taught to create thin brows or what, but I am praying my brows will grow back. I have heard that some people never get their brows to their original shape/fullness once it's been overly thinned out. If that does happen, this will be a huge regret for me. read more

Never been to a brow specialist before - had waxing services on my brows at nail/hair salons though. My skin reacted the same as anywhere else - a few red welts. But the wax was warm and soft and wasn't very painful. It must be easy to work with cuz Whitney was quick and precise. I had just got my eyelash extensions put on literally 30 mins prior and was worried about wax drippage, her hands pressing on them, etc. Nothing to worry about. All went well. I showed her a pic of the brow I wanted, she said "Oh, yeah, that's our Benefit Brow" with full confidence that she's done this before. I had called ahead to make the appointment (Tuesday at 11), waited 5 mins and it was done in 10, make up and all. She had filled in the brows with color and put concealer around them to mask the red welts. I got it free. Birthday promo. The week of your birthday, between Sunday and Saturday with your DOB falling between the two, set up an appt. Bring in your driver's license as proof of your birthday. Bring cash to tip though. No hard sales on product. I asked about some concealer powder but I need something heavier for freckling. They've discontinued many colors and products. So, it didn't work for me. Kinda bummed about that. Also, the brows are a bit shorter in length than I wanted and the arches are a bit higher than the photo I brought, however I didn't give Whitney much to work with with these over plucked since junior high brows! After finding out that Katie no longer works here I was a bit hesitant on whether or not I should return. Being a faithful customer I chose to come back because I was desperate to get my eyebrows under control. I just took the first person that was available which was Eva or Ava...I'm not sure exactly how she spelt her name. Anyway, since this was the first time she was going my brows I was really double checking my brows and being an "annoying customer". She was very sweet about it and knew that I wasn't happy and wouldn't give up until I was. In the end she did a wonderful job although it took a little more time.
