I was so happy, when I moved to connecticut, to find a great place for bra fittings. The place is out of the way for me, but perfect. Hey have a great selection and a knowledgeable staff. You have to make a reservation but your appointment is fast. They even pull items in different colors I have purchased before. It is pricey- but the quality is great. I saw Josie at Beneath the Gown for bridal alterations as well as a bra to go with my dress with a slightly low back. She helped me find the perfect bra, and also sewed special tabs into my dress that tucked into my bra to keep the dress from slipping down. They made such a difference! I bought my dress secondhand, so some tears in the fabric needed to be fixed, there was a bit of discoloration in the underarm area, and it needed to be taken in a bit. Honestly, I didn't even notice some of these issues, but Josie saw them right away. Despite the layers of lace and beading (Josie told me she would have to remove and then replace some of the beading and boning if I lost any more weight), she managed to make all the repairs while leaving it looking like a brand new dress. I initially visited Beneath the Gown to find the perfect undergarments for my dress. I struggled to find undergarments in regular department stores that not only did not show through my low back dress but also addressed all my problem areas. Josie came to my rescue and was able to create custom undergarments for me that addressed all my issues! During my appointment, she made me feel comfortable and was so sweet that I ultimately decided to also get my dress alterations completed there. If I've learned one thing in the process of all of my wedding planning, it is that once you've spent thousands of dollars on a wedding gown, you want to make sure it looks as good as possible on you. After buying my gown at The White Dress by the Shore, they had referred me to Beneath The Gown for as the name implies, lingerie to wear under your wedding dress. I guess I had never given much thought to anything aside from the gown, and after reading up on the importance of picking the "perfect foundation" and meeting with the seamstress who basically told me my life would be changed if I made an appointment, I decided I needed to see what all of the fuss was about! Walking into the shop, I was immediately greeted by Josie&Heidi, who are the sweetest women in the world-they immediately offered my mother & me coffee and had us seated comfortably in back to enjoy our coffee while Josie pulled some options. I had brought my wedding dress with me so that I could try it on with the different undergarments(my dress has a very low cut back/strapless with a sweet heart neckline and didn't even know it was possible to have something aside from built-in-cups)-- if you don't have your dress, you can just bring pictures and they can find you something based on that. They have a beautiful collection of fine european lingerie-- from lace to silk-- that Josie will completely customize to your wedding dress(she also adds her own touch- a blue bow if you'd like for your something blue). As I'm using a seamstress that is close to Josie, they communicate to each other so that the lingerie works perfectly under your dress and stays in place(becoming more a part of your dress as opposed to just something you just wear underneath). Josie pulled the perfect piece for me-- it actually transformed the way the dress looked and added support to show off my figure as the dress is completely silk/lace and doesn't have ribbing to help enhance--and it made me feel so pretty and feminine!! Ughh, seriously I cannot say enough amazing things-- if you're a bride, come here!!! You also don't just have to come here for wedding needs, but for customized bra fittings/post-mastectomy needs and beautiful bathing suits!!!!! Josie spent a lot of time working with me to find the perfect "foundation" for my wedding dress. The best part of working with Josie is that she's also a seamstress. She is able to customize bras, corsets, etc. to fit you correctly. Before going here I didn't even know it was possible to tailor lingerie! This is the WOW! factor of BTG. You can definitely appreciate this if you are someone who's an in between size. Josie was able to alter my wedding dress corset along with bras I purchased here for everyday wear. Her seamstress skills are impeccable and she pays close attention to every little detail. The only mistake I made is that I didn't go here FIRST! Josie was truly my life-saver! I lost about 20 lbs between buying my wedding gown and getting to the fitting phase. The result: it was much too large. I actually wasn't even sure if I LIKED my dress anymore. My tailor told me to make sure I got proper undergarments before coming to him, and recommended Josie. Not only did she not bat an eye at my latex allergy (in other words, NO ELASTIC), she found the perfect longline bra for me, sewed in cups, altered it, AND suggested I make a change to the neckline of my dress that made me fall in love with it again! Josie is amazing! This is the only place I will ever buy my lingerie from. I went in for a professional bra fitting and met Josie. I am very self-conscious of my large breasts and want to get a reduction so I hate bra shopping, but Josie made me feel really good about myself. I purchased three bras' that day. A few months later I had Josie help fit me for my wedding corset. I was really nervous about getting ready on my wedding day so I rented Josie! As another review states - you're usually spending a good amount on your gown - the last thing you want is to look like you're falling out of it or it doesn't fit you right. Immediately upon entering we were greeted by the store owner! She is so sweet and so welcoming. I felt comfortable right away. I had not been fitted for under garments in years as I find it kind of awkward. This is the place to go if you're anything like me. She spent a little over an hour helping me find the right piece - and even found me every day pieces as well!! My mother got fitted for her pieces by the owners daughter for her gown and also felt we had a fantastic professional and welcoming experience!!
