Once again you guys have come to the rescue. My 14 year old wants a different meal each day, so I visit a lot (Twice this last week). There are plenty of reasons for these folks to tire of us, but they don't. We have gone through every type of dog food in the store. From one end of the spectrum to the other. They never get perturbed. They never push anything and they appear not to be avoiding us... :) in addition, They've read all the fine print for calorie counts for my other dog who likes to sneak treats. Mikaela helped me on Feb 22nd. My little 1/2 Chiwawa 1/2 Poodle/Maltese rescue has been constantly throwing up. We came in the east side store for a name tag, but our little dog was smelling all the treats. I told Mikaela would loved to be able to buy him some treats but he just throws everything up but his food we get from there. She was really helpful...It was right before closing and she was walking me around the store and going over different products. Then, she recommended, "Goats Milk". In my mind, I was like, 'these young people today, goats milk, that's cra cra'!!! But to her I was like, Goats milk huh? You don't think he would throw that up? She said,"No, not at all, it has probiotics in it to help their tummies". She also gave me a sample of treats to see how he will do after he's been on the milk. She explained exactly how to mix it with his food and how much. And.....Wow!!!!! What a difference in our little guy Patch!!! NO MORE THROWING UP!!! AND.....HE LOVES THE GOATS MILK!!! OMG!!! WHO KNEW???? OUT NEW HERO MIKAELA, THAT'S WHO!!! Before, we couldn't get him to eat at a certain time or anything.....Now he's on a great schedule and he eats it all!! I went to this store today for the first time thinking it would be way more convenient to get our cat food here rather than driving all the way across town to petsmart. At first glance it seemed really nice! Nice building, clean entry, nice displays. And then we ran into an associate putting away cat food and it all went down hill from there. Our vet (who also happens to be my sister) let us know that our cat needed to be on UTI food in order to keep her from getting sick again. Our vet told us she could write us a prescription for the wet cat food but that Purina Pro Plan has a UTI wet food that works exactly the same at the half the price. So that's what we give her. When we asked this associate if they carried UTI food she said they did not but that all we really needed was wet food because a UTI problem is just not enough moisture in the cats diet, so UTI food was not necessary. And even if they did carry it we would need a prescription. When we let her know that we don't need a prescription because Purina has one she literally laughed at us and said "of course they do" in a very condescending way. Working in a pet store doesn't make you a vet! This associate clearly had no idea what she was talking about and had no right to lecture me on the subject. As annoyed as I was by this associates very stupid behavior, it did give me something to laugh about the rest of the day. To the associate who lectured me today, congratulations on becoming the laughing stock of the vets in the greater Portland area!! We obviously will never be making a purchase from this store. read more

My review is for Brandy at Bend Pet Express. We were so fortunate to discover Brandy several weeks ago when trying to get our dog's nails trimmed. Over the years, our bully had become increasingly fearful of nail trims. We could no longer find anyone in Bend who could trim her nails, not even her previous vet. We tried Bend Pet Express as a last effort and Brandy was honestly a lifesaver. Brandy is sweet, gentle, and thoughtful. Between Brandy, another associate, my husband, and myself, we orchestrated a plan (predominately led by Brandy's initiative) to get my dog's nails trimmed while distracting her with treat after treat... after treat. It worked! The treats and the 2 people holding our dog helped soothe her anxiety. Brandy took her time and did a thorough, impressive job along the way, checking in with us multiple times to make sure we were happy with the results. She's smart and has a compassionate heart. My dog is deaf and Brandy really listened and took our instruction seriously regarding how to communicate with my dog. I mean it truly when I say that Brandy is the ONLY person I trust to take care of my dog's nails. We recently went back in to get my dog's nails trimmed again and I was touched and amazed that she remembered us, our dog, and even got down on the ground to communicate with our dog through signs. We are a huge fan of Brandy and because of her, we will continue to not only go to Bend Pet Express for nail trims, but also for food and pet supplies. People like Brandy, who genuinely care about the dogs and their owners, make me want to support the business she represents. We sincerely hope her manager sees this review and acknowledges her accordingly... and gives her a million dollar bonus. So impressed! Took my very nervous poodle in here for a bath and Brandy and Kim recommended the new bath they had for nervous dogs. I had to drive back to Washington after the appointment and what a difference. She wasn't her normal panting, shaky self on the drive back and was so calm. They even sent us home with a calming collar that lasted the whole month. I will definitely come back whenever I visit bend. One of the girls on the floor recommended raw food too, I was told it would was much better than kibble and would help with her teeth too. She was so right! As an aging dog this raw food seem to give her a new lease on life. The staff definately have nutritional knowledge and I appreciate there advice. read more
