They have a cute patio with many colorful chairs and tables; it gives a very positive vibe to the place. On top of that, they are very creative with their gelato flavors and you can find many unique flavors here. We came here because of a late night craving and weren't disappointed at all. I'm the black sheep of my family in that I'm not a huge fan of ice cream. Oh, I'll have it - and enjoy it - on a hot, summer day. But I won't go out of my way for it, nor will I have it if it's not swelteringly hot out. That said, I've been a huge fan of Ben & Jerry's every since the early 80's. I'd visit their headquarters-farm in Vermont often whenever in the area (which was not infrequently), and I was a huge supporter of their corporate values. Being a native Montrealer, I've been to Place Jacques Cartier a gazillion times in my life and I've seen this Ben & Jerry's shop often. I'd usually go for the pitchers of sangria at the neighboring terraces on hot, summer days, though, foregoing the ice cream. Recently, however, I was in town with my daughter and yes, it was a sweltering hot day. And she loves ice cream. So we gravitated to B&J's, with its colorful store front and iconic murals of its cows in green fields. It really saddens me to say, the B&J experience here was a big let-down. The girl who works the counter here was SO aloof and cold, it was like the total antithesis of everything B&J stands for (or, at least, what it used to stand for: happiness and fun times and hot summer days and bright colors and rainbows and joy). The ice cream itself was very good, as it always has been. (I relented and had a small cup of a caramel flavor that was delicious. My kid had a large cup of some sort of cookie and cream or cookie dough concoction. We enjoyed the the ice cream. But the coldness - verging on rudeness - of the girl behind the counter was a real turn-off. No smile, no "thank you", no...anything while ringing us up. I tried making a bit of small talk, mentioning the nice day, the bustling city, what a great store here, etc. Nada, nothing. Like talking to a wall. Literally not one word, even after I paid. It just felt weird. (The guy who served us our ice creams was at least more friendly. He did make eye contact and talk to us). There are so many ice cream places in Old Montreal, I don't think I'd return to this B&J location. Disappointing. read more

Great, smooth typical B&J chocolate ice cream but a bit pricey. Absolutely nothing inside except freezers. One small patio outside. Bathroom is "broken" but I had my doubts. J'ai pris un Sunday brownies avec fudge chaud et crème glacer tonigh dough Jimmy Fallon. En gros, il y a tellement de chose dans cette crème glacé que je vous recommande d'aller voir la photo des choix que j'ai mise. La crème glacé était vraiment bonne, le brownie est une brownie frais fais sur place, bien moelleux et goûteux. Avec le fudge, c'était vraiment bon. Et il manque de rien, le brownie fait même une mini séparation entre les 2 scoop de crème glacé. Ma compagne à prit un bol de 3 scoop de crème glacé différente que j'ai totalement oublié (entre autre la tonigh dough). Elle a adoré toute ce qu'elle a prise. Un autre point, le service à la clientèle. Je n'ai malheureusement pas son nom, mais l'employée qui nous a servie était souriante, drôle, aimable, chaleureuse, aidante. I hear about all the hype regarding Ben & Jerry's from the people in the States on Youtube, but since I've never bought a tub of B&J from the grocery store, I was curious enough to try it out at this store. The store was pretty nice that it had music playing from the stereo and they had a couple tables outside at the patio, which directly faces the Jacques Cartier Square. Unfortunately, they run of tasting spoons when we wanted to try some samples, so we were only given 1 chance to taste their ice creams using their regular spoons. I wanted the New York flavour but the container was pretty much empty, so they opened a new box at my request. The chocolate tasted pretty good, with rich dark chocolate flavour and not too sweet. It also contained a lot of nuts in the ice cream as described. We paid roughly $20 for 4 regular cones, which was decent I guess and comparable to buying at any other ice cream shops. However, since you can pretty much purchase B&J from the grocery store, it's much more worth it to just buy a tub there and eat at home. read more

Came here for some ice cream after a long walk around Montreal. I wasn't sure on what to get, but luckily one of the employees Tara recommended me the Oreo peanut butter flavor. She gave me a sample and I liked it. I decided to get a scoop. It's was very good and also vegan. They added almond milk instead of whole milk. read more

I went to this location on Monday and it was quite busy, they bounced from one customer to another in a very unorganized fashion. However , this isn't the reason I am writing this review. I am absolutely appalled by what I witnessed ... as my strawberry lemonade was being prepared, I was in line to pay when I noticed some gummy bear toppings fell off of a child's ice cream onto the counter. The cashier (mind you, he handles money ... a huge source of bacteria!) picked up the gummies and threw them ... not into the garbage bin but the jar where they serve them from! This is absolutely disgusting and unhygienic! Needless to say, I will not be returning to this location. read more

This location is conveniently located in a touristy area of Old Montreal. Keep in mind there are other places for ice cream, but if you have a sudden craving as I did, then a good place to get your fix. read more

5 stars for being Ben & Jerry's, but -1 star for not having a very clean atmosphere. We went here because they are offering a "3 for $3" special (you get three scoops for only $3)! Great deal for Ben & Jerry's ice cream! I ordered Cookies & Cream, Mint Chip, and Cookie Dough. They gave me Cookies & Cream, Mint Chip, Cookie Dough, and some Carmel flavor. Oh well, it tasted ok and for only $3, I can deal with a small mistake! the only problem was the slightly grungy atmosphere that shouldn't be in a B&J's. The floor was quite sticky, the place in general was slightly grimy, and it just lacked that colorful ice cream shop feel. They do have an outdoor patio, though. I am a total Ice cream junkie and this spot is superbly located in old port. Everytime after a nice walk around the port or even a dessert after dinner for another small talk you can always find me here. They have nice seating outside their window if you want to check out local artists playing or doing cool tricks outside. The staff here are very knowledgebale and know what flavours works with what if you want to try new blizzards or add/change any flavour to your sundae. read more
