Even though it was freezing in Montreal, I had to stop and try some local chocolates, and they were amazing. The mall itself was a little hard to navigate because of the incredibly tall walls and ceilings. I had never seen anything like it before. The design was really interesting, and I'm kicking myself for not taking any photos. The staff were very friendly and let me try a few samples, which I loved. I bought several things, enjoyed them so much, and ended up coming back again right before they closed. Of course, I forgot to take more photos that time too. I would definitely come back the next time I'm in Montreal and try other goodies. read more

Let's be real, ice cream shops are a dime a dozen. The flavours and quality found here is what sets them apart. Ice cream: they have different types of swirl cones such as vanilla/Belgian chocolate, strawberry/passion fruit (which tastes great!) and raspberry/maple syrup (sounds sexy eh?). you can also ask for only one flavour if you're feeling like a plain jane. I was in the mood for a classic, but here's the twist, I had it dipped in dark chocolate. It was amazing ! Service : very nice and fast. I was so impressed by the offerings from this gem of a shop from a previous visit that I thought of it immediately as the season for gift giving rolled around. To me, it resembles a jewelry store with its wondrous chocolate displays and lush brown/blue signature colors, punctuated with the colors of the holiday season. I was seeking single-origin, high-cocoa content chocolate bars and found a variety. They were sourced from Cameroon, the Ivory Coast, and Peru, all prettily packaged and ready for gift-giving. Other interesting items in the shop include Christmas novelties, Belgium truffles, fruit and nut barks, creative chocolate flavors, and Juliettes, thin chocolate wafers in the shape of petals that are topped with nuts, dried fruits, and spices. My favorites are the cornet chocolates (shaped like an ice cream cone) in a variety of gianduja flavors: crispy, milk and dark chocolates. Alright alright alright. So this is my first time here; my girlfriend and I were in the Eaton Centre and decided to stop by. We ordered their "genéreux" option, which includes 3 scoops of ice cream. We were a little indecisive on the flavors, and the server gave us his suggestions. The server REALLY packed the cup!! I was surprised how generous (haha) his scoops were. I'm not complaining. The cookie dough was creamy and thick, and the red velvet tasted like cheesecake! It was incredible! The service was good and the ice cream was delicious-- highly recommended! read more

I was at the Eaton center and felt like ice cream. The craving hit right before I saw this place, so my boyfriend and I decided to get some ice cream! We got "le généreux" which is three scoops. Wow! It was VERY generous! We got red velvet, cookie dough and brownie. The ice cream scooper took a small bowl and filled it to the brim with the first flavour. I thought he was going to give us three blels, but nope! He then scooped a huge portion of flavour 2 on top of that. After that, I was sure he couldn't fit another ball on top, but he did! It was a huge tower and ice cream! He gave us a lot of napkins, but we ended up going to thr bathroom to wash our hands anyways, because we were covered in ice cream! The red velvet was delicious! This place has the best soft-served ice cream in town. The texture is slightly different than one would expect. The ice cream isn't as frozen as typical soft-served which creates this creamy/velvety texture. It doesn't melt away like frozen yogurt which is great, especially if you get it in the cone! Speaking of the cone, it's delicious! If you get the cup, you're missing out unless you want to have toppings. I never had any, the ice cream is so good that it doesn't need any additives. I also bought a few chocolates which were also yummy but a bit overpriced. I give this place 4 stars because the chocolate is over the price point for the quality/taste and the location could be better as in bigger or better located to enjoy the ice cream. beware of cost of gift box: jeff charges for boxes. jeff de bruges charges for boxes and they dont tell you until they run-up the sale. there are free boxes which the sales person did not conveniently disclose. make sure you request them. i have never paid for a box at godiva, laura secord, lindt. i suspect it is ok in europe to charge for a box but i found that very inappropriate in america. $140 per kg for chocolate and then one has to pay for a box to carry the product home so they dont get damaged. beware of jeff de bruges and it's box policy. really charging for a box!!! come on!!! read more

I'm so envious you have a shop in canada. My cousin was making frequent trips to Paris. I asked him to get me a cheap candy bar. Well he got me a good sized Jeff de Bruges chocolates. Let me tell you I was in heaven. I am not a milk chocolate kind of gal. But I preferred the milk over the dark. The pralines were just indescribable they were that good. Ive been longing for some of their chocolates for 5 years. They do not ship to the United States. My friend just visited Dubai so I got a lil fix. But I feel the chocolate is worth the price. Can only vouch for the ice cream here. Biggest bang for your buck! TWO scoops (different flavours) for under $5!!! Quality of ice cream was impeccable. Had the pitaschio (the have while pistachios in it too!) and the maple (you can truly taste the ample amount of maple syrup in it)!! There is probably a tendency for yelpers not to read 1 star negative reviews. These types of reviews usually Indicate something really wrong with a place or some kind of unusual or one off incidents. Jeff de Bruges had a few miscues leading to this negative riff. Its a high end chocolate shop with a soft serve ice-cream counter that's reported to serve some of the best dipped in Belgian chocolate ice cream. For this reason we gave it a go. We walked through the chocolate shop part where I grabbed a few tempting bon bons for my sweetie. Instead of an encounter with a Willy Wonky we met the shop lady/proprietor from hell. She was as cold and icy as the canals of Bruges In January. Come on Buying chocolate is supposed to be fun, but not here. We we treated like we were not worthy of spending $10 bucks for six pieces of chocolate. No help, no salesmanship and not even a smile. On to the ice-cream counter where we wished to try a hand dipped soft serve ice cream cone, as part of our summer quest to find the best of its kind in Montreal. There was an obviously new employee who had not been properly trained at his station. He did not have the dipping technique mastered and because the ice cream was coming out of the machine was too soft he lost the ice cream in the hot pot and had to struggle to retrieve it making a gooey mess all over the counter. At this point The shop lady/ proprietor let this poor employee continue to humiliate himself by offering no help at all. She shouted out a few useless commands for him to not to forget to ring up the chocolate as well as the almost aborted ice cream. There was nobody else in the store and she would not lift a finger to help this poor guy out of this embarrassing mess nor apologize to us customers. The ice cream cones were barely edible as the Belgian chocolate was way too thick and the ice cream way to thin. Although potentially good the ice cream and whole experience was a disaster no thanks to a "bitch de Bruges" No matter how good the chocolate may be (and it was very good )just don't go here...period. read more

This chocolatier is probably the best in Montreal for quality, service, and presentation. I tried their milk chocolate pralines and they were to die for. I tried their creme molle ice cream which is dipped in Belgian chocolate and it was to die for. Since I tried that creme molle, I refuse to try any creme molle at any cremerie. I am sure Jeff de Bruges has the best creme molle in town. I have only good things to say about this place. They have such a big selection of chocolate, and it is a perfect place to buy a gift. I go there to indulge and treat myself but I will probably buy my Christmas gifts here. The staff is also friendly and helpful and knowledgeable about the merchandise.
