Time for an update to my previous favorable review of this professional moving company. Still a fan, over five years later!!! Recently we had the need to relocate back to Minnesota from KS where Beltman had originally moved us many years ago. Because of the professional treatment our move received the last time, we went back, naturally looking at other firms to keep things fair, but finally deciding upon re-activating our relationship and engaging them for the return move. While we had been in KS, we unloaded furniture and did some down-sizing, so our relocation need wasn't as extensive as the outbound move from MN, but the business approach, process, support, delivery experience and follow through were the same. This is an exceptional relocation company regardless of the location of the origination of your move or the final destination. The employees are all committed to caring for your goods as if their own, and getting them to your destination quickly and safely. All tiers of support act according to the same credo. Sales, administration, support, drivers, packers and loaders. We will most assuredly select them again if/when a move is in our plans. My advice is to at least have a conversation with them, quote them and think carefully. In our case, two times we made a solid decision that protected our stuff and delivered it safely, on time, on budget and with courteous service. read more

Beltmann was fantastic on my recent move from Kansas City to Knoxville. I had three weeks to move and needed everything to move quickly. The estimator came out with a day's notice and gave me a low, fair estimate. The move coordinator worked behind the scenes to keep things going. I did find her to be the weakest link, however. She tried to move my pack day, which wasn't an option. She also pushed back a lot on timelines. The packers were prompt and excellent. I ended up with one or two small items broken, but nothing major. My pack and truck load were accomplished in under a day on a 2+ bedroom apartment. The driver, Jose C., was amazing. He delivered earlier than I had dared to dream. He worked constantly and quickly. He was polite and friendly. A++ effort from him. read more

I read several negative reviews of this company and figured people were exaggerating their issues. Nope, the problems are real. Buckle up, you're in for a ride on this one. First the positive, the unloaders in Omaha were amazing (minus one guy who you'll read about soon). They worked hard and treated our stuff like it was their stuff, they were great!! Frankly they are the reasons why this review has two stars and not one or zero. Now for the problems. First, there was a mover at both the loading (Kansas City) and unloading who commented to my wife about 'how nice her feet look'. He also commented on our roommate's feet saying the same thing. You just don't say that to two females if you're a male. Frankly it came across as sexual harassment and he's lucky we didn't kick him out of our house twice. Second, the loading crew had an incredibly nice older gentleman who worked his butt off and did an amazing job. Problem is nobody else on the crew recognized his hard work. Instead, the rest of the crew decided to essentially bully him the entire time about how slow he was (he wasn't) and him always being in the way (again, he wasn't). Frankly, this employee, if he so chose, has action against the company for age discrimination based on the comments and the way he was treated. To say it was a hostile work environment is an understatement. Third, the packer who was responsible for actually packing the items (duh) was late. Okay, no big deal, people get delayed for all kinds of reasons out of their control and life moves on. The problem was she then combined being late with continually talking about how the moving crew was trying to get her fired and how she could do their job so much better. Before she got even close to halfway done she left. Since she left before she was done with her job the movers, who aren't really packers, packed random stuff together which ended up breaking quite a few things. Quick example, the movers put several Pyrex dishes in boxes without packing material with other items like metal pots and pans. Of course these dishes broke during the move. Fourth, (told you this was a ride) when the unloaders were done unloading everything in the truck they discovered there was no parts box. The unloaders explained to us the loaders are supposed to create a parts box in a bright red box containing all of the hardware they removed from items so they could be reassembled. These are things like legs for beds, screws, etc. for bed frames, TV stand screws, etc. Now we have two beds without bed frames, three TVs without TV stands, as well as a few other smaller items without components to set them up. Fifth, the loaders damaged a door so much it scraped off two or three layers of paint and primer down to the bare wood. Not great, but things happen. The problem is they didn't say anything. My wife noticed it and it wasn't until the movers were doing a final walk-through she brought it up and they kind of just shrugged it off. IN FACT, THEY WANTED HER TO INITIAL/ SIGN PAPER WORK SAYING EVERYTHING WAS OKAY WITH THE HOUSE SO SHE COULDN'T CLAIM IT LATER. We also had to ask for doors to be put back up the movers took down, should have been done without us asking. Sixth, the loading took 8 hours instead of 4, likely because the packer left early. Because it took so long and there were so many issues my wife didn't get to point out all the things they missed loading. Seventh, trash, everywhere. We bought them lunch because it was the right thing to do. Instead of asking for a trash can, or at the very least putting all the trash together, the loaders dropped the trash wherever they felt like for us to pickup. Not the most egregious thing but it was just the icing on top of the cake. Last, I've submitted at least $6,500 worth of claims for damages, missing parts, etc., to the moving company. The loaders destroyed multiple items and damaged countless others. If you've read this whole thing please, PLEASE, DO. NOT. USE. THESE. PEOPLE! read more

We chose the Beltman Group (North American Van Lines) to do a long-distance household move. The salesperson seemed experienced and knowledgeable. Our move, however, was a disaster. They estimated a 5-7 day delivery window. Our shipment arrived after 13 days. The driver was very rude and one piece of furniture was utterly destroyed with several other pieces damaged. We filed a claim and recovered less than 20% of our losses. read more

Horrible! Worst experience of my life! Roy Peterson & Rosie Wilson (our supposed "moving coordinators") with Beltmann were the most un-responsive, unhelpful people I've ever dealt with. Here's the short story: We contracted Beltmann/North American for an interstate move. They promised that we'd receive our property within 6-10 business days of pick up. The day they were scheduled to load our stuff, nobody showed up. We had to call Rosie to ask where our movers were. Finally, after numerous phone calls, they sent some guys over, who completely wrecked the walls we had just painted. So, we think everything's good now right? Next, part of our stuff shows up. The driver can't get any help from the local North American affiliate, so he hires some guy off the street to help him unload our stuff. By the time they got in all in the apartment, the leather sofa and recliner were all scuffed and torn. Our kitchen table (a wedding present) had a broken leg. And here's the kicker; they only brought part of our stuff! The rest of it didn't arrive until 16 days after pick-up. And North American didn't even deliver it. It was put in a crate and shipped by Yellow Freight. I'm sure they took great care of our stuff. All this would have been less troublesome if we had any contact from Roy or Rosie. We constantly had to take the initiative and call to ask where our stuff was, when it was going to arrive, and how to file a claim (since we had so much broken and missing stuff). Most of the time, we didn't get any real answers from either person. Anyway, moving is stressful enough without having to deal with unprofessional and incompetent movers. I would highly suggest somebody else, especially if you're dealing with Roy Peterson or Rosie Wilson. read more

Worst experience ever! We had a contract promise date of 5/7/19-5/10/19 and are now being told (after we had to contact them) that we are at least 5/17/19 for delivery. Everything we were told by our sales rep was not true and the driver who loaded made sexist comments to me and comments about religion to my mother. Our sales rep also did not communicate from the time we contracted until Sunday evening after we had moved to try to extort us for more money and called me a liar when I told him the comments the driver made to us. We cannot get a call back, just keep leaving messages and getting lip service that they care and understand out frustration. No one will return a call or email at this company. read more

We got Mr Delk out here to give us an estimate and select our moving date. 3 weeks went by and he leaves me a voicemail that said they weren't going to do our move after all because our load wasn't big enough, so they just canceled it. Here it is a couple of weeks later and we can't find anyone to move us. It's military move season around here, and apparently they're not interested in regular people moving, just when the government foots the bill. I'm a 54 year old woman and my husband has had cancer and just finished 6 weeks of radiation. I suppose we have to move ourselves, but the thought of moving a grand piano seems a little daunting. Do NOT call them to move you. They'll break the contract then you'll be in the lurch like we are. read more

North American has moved my family across the country twice and the last experience was incredibly disappointing. Some of our things were broken, the driver did not take an inventory at pickup so we aren't even sure that we received all of our things and a piece of our mid-century modern furniture was damaged so badly that it's unusable. We were told that because their quote to fix it wasn't under $500 that they were unable to repair it and so we are left with a $2500 piece of furniture that is worthless. Buyer beware!!! read more

This is very bad careless movers . They recently moved me from Kansas to east coast and they broke my China completely and they refused to repair it and they just paid me 60 cents per lb per half weight of the China not even the full weight .they paid me 108 $ for a China that cost me 1200$ and they refused to repair it .most of the respectable movers they either send somebody to repair or pay the price of the broken item but this company is scammer and I regret I used them for my move. I filed two complaint against them and I never get my China repaired not fairly reimbursed for its price. read more

Unfortunate experience with this branch of the North American movers. They were late on delivery, their one mover dragged a box labeled fragile down our basement steps, the same mover destroyed a section of our brand new hardwood floors, the same said mover dragged his hand down our wall every time he came down and stained the wall. They also ripped three pieces of our sectional. That was six weeks ago and still have not heard from the branch location. I did hear from Corporate who said they would talk to them but clearly they did not. read more

Terrible, terrible service and lack of respect for the customer. Ordered a console from Costco and these guys were supposed to fulfill the order. According to the tracking website, they tried calling us and had left a voicemail as well as sent an email to set up a delivery time. Needless to say, those stories were totally made up, probably because they needed to meet certain metrics to remain a Costco carrier. So we called them up, and spoke to Randy, who told us that they could deliver the item in three days' time, which was a Thursday, but that he would call us back in a bit, with a time window (as he was in the midst of packing something). He didn't call back in a bit. He didn't call back at all. So we called him the next day. Totally unapologetic, Randy sets the delivery time window to be between 3 and 7 in the evening on Thursday. I take the day off on Thursday and it turned out to be a monumental waste of time. No call, no email, no show. The next day, I call to speak with Randy's boss, a Tim Austin. He assured me that they would deliver the item on Saturday, after 2, and that the driver would call if he was going to be delayed later than 230. No call, no show. After leaving several messages with Tim's voicemail, I went out to grab some lunch at 3, and came home 15 minutes later to a handwritten note stating that they had tried to deliver the item, and that I had to call their office again for a reschedule. So much for calling if he was going to be delayed. This company demonstrates a pattern of disregard and disrespect for the customer, and the customer's time. Combine that with dishonest employees, and I would never recommend them for any kind of job, large or small. It's getting to the point where it would make more sense to just cancel the order, and buy the item from some local retailer. read more

Worst experience ever, truck got stuck in my driveway, instead of getting assistance, they dragged my belongings up a 1/4 mile gravel driveway, many things broken, finished around 8 pm. would never recommend these people read more

Beltman's packers didn't finish on the scheduled day. The moving truck showed up late the following day, a Saturday. After they finished unloading the truck at my new residence (a local move), they told me they left "some things" behind because the truck was full. I went to check, and they left more than a little. They left behind items I was told would be moved, including pictures on the walls and cabinets and closets that weren't even touched. I had to be out of my old house by 5 p.m. that Sunday and had been told they didn't work on Sundays. I started moving stuff myself Saturday evening, called and left messages Sunday morning not really expecting an answer and continued making trips Sunday morning, though there were some items I couldn't fit in my car. I finally got a call four hours after my original call to my surprise (and some credit to them). They sent a crew Sunday afternoon to pick up the larger items, and I was out of the old house just in time. I had them leave the dining room furniture in the garage of the new house while I had the wallpaper stripped and the room painted. I was told that wouldn't be a problem, they'd come over and move it into the room when I was done. When it was done two days later, I contacted Beltman to ask them to move in the dining room furniture. Two weeks later, I finally got a response saying the driver who had done my move was on a job in Western Kansas and would handle the move when he got back Thursday. Why the original driver had to handle that small move was beyond me, but I waited until Saturday. When they still didn't show, my son, two friends of his and me moved the items. They under-estimated the job, charging me an extra $400+. They even tried to charge me another $100 for the Sunday crew that moved the items left behind. Having made four trips myself on my own time, labor and gas, I refused to pay. I followed up with a detailed letter to their general manager and never got a response. I strongly recommend that you not use Beltman Relocation Group of Lenexa, KS. read more

We had an excellent experience with Beltmann on our move from Kansas to Oklahoma. Their rates were very competitive--easily the lowest of any company we dealt with locally. The salesman who visited our home actively sought ways to save us money--including delivering used boxes to our home. The support staff was friendly, gracious and helpful. The movers were courteous and efficient and the entire contents our home arrived safely and on time. We shopped around with several companies and are so glad we chose Beltmann. We have recommended them several times including a new employee relocating from Kansas City to Oklahoma. If we ever move again, which I hope is a long time, we will make one call. read more

Damaged most EVERYTHING! I moved with Beltman in May 2013. The sale rep and office staff were wonderful. That's where it ended. They damaged every single pc of furniture in some way, from scratching wood to outright breaking vases. They had one team move me out then another move me in. The team that moved me in complained the entire time they were doing the move and did not care at all that items were visibly broken. They blamed it on the other team. I wrote a complaint letter to them and my sales rep assured me they take complaints seriously. No one ever contacted me from management. I am just taking the time to write this review now because I am moving again and this company showed up in my search. DO NOT USE THEM! I am giving them one star only because negative stars are not an option. read more

I moved to TX from KS with the help of Beltmann Relocation Group in the middle of December. A good moving experience with them! I contacted North American moving in the beginning and then got connected with Beltmann Relocation Group. I was worry about my moving after read some bad reviews about Beltmann Relocation and Roy Peterson. However, the whole process turned out to be good and smooth.I got $50 of free packing boxes from them, too. Started from the in-home estimation. Roy came over on-time in a stormy day. He is old and experienced. He gave me a quote with guaranteed price a few days after the estimation. I updated with him a couple times before my real move. Although sometimes it takes a while to get response from him, he responded. His assistant, Sharyl, is a friendly and helpful lady, too. On the moving day, the truck driver showed up in the end of the time window they promised. They guys were friendly and professional. Then I got a call three days later telling me that they were ready to deliver my stuff the next day. Then the driver called me on the day of delivery again. Two men came to deliver my household stuff. They were friendly, too. I was thankful that they delivered my stuff so quickly after I arrived TX. A few weeks after the move, I needed the receipt of my move for my reimbursement request. Sharyl was not in the office that day, but another lady gave me the receipt via e-mail the same day. The reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 stars is that I think they should improve their customer information update. I told Roy to update my phone number so that the driver can get in touch with me on the pick up day. However, it seems that the driver still got my old phone number. Therefore, I spent some time worrying and calling Roy's assistance making sure the driver will arrive on that day. Another reason is the scheduled delivery time. Although I was thankful for receiving my stuff earlier than I expected, it was supposed to be delivered two days later. I set that time because I am not sure if I can arrive TX before my stuff. Those are the two complains I have toward this move. Otherwise, everything worked great. I would recommend them to my friend. read more

Unprofessional and unresponsive! After getting estimates from 2 full service moving companies for our local move with storage in between, we originally selected Beltmann due to their ability to pick-up/deliver the goods on a Saturday for no extra charge (even though they were late to the original appointment). I should have known their tardiness was a red flag. I spoke to the representative on Thursday and they promised to get back with me first thing Monday morning regarding my questions on the additional replacement coverage. After a follow up email on Monday afternoon, I did not hear back from them until Wednesday - and our move was supposed to be that Saturday! The kicker is that their excuse was that their email was down...however I provided phone number 3 times. While waiting for their follow-up, we made last minute plans to switch to another mover and have them come on Friday instead of Saturday. My experience with Beltmann was frustrating. As a busy professional, I was looking for a mover that could simplify the process rather than put the onus on me to follow up multiple times - especially given the amount that we are paying! We are in the middle of the move process, and I am VERY happy that we switched at the last minute. read more
