Cheryl cared about me as a whole person, I never felt rushed (most appointments were 30-60 minutes). I had to bring older siblings to most appointments and she made sure that they were included. I really appreciate that my midwife and the birth center didn't have lists of routine interventions. I was allowed to make my own decisions about my care and what tests/interventions I wanted to have. I had a peaceful and amazing water birth at the birth center. Even if I had needed to transfer, it would have been worth the money just to have my midwife's support in the hospital. I cannot recommend Gentle Beginnings more highly.

Leading up to my daughter's birth, she was always checking in and offering a supportive ear or advice. She deeply cared about and helped me navigate through my personal goals and concerns while also encouraging me to think about things I hadn't even considered. While we had planned for a vaginal, unmedicated birth, my OB advised me to induce at 41.5 weeks, which I ended up doing. I could write a novel about the entire labor and how instrumental she was not only for me, but for supporting and guiding my husband to be the best birthing partner he could be. She even created a beautiful and peaceful ambiance to my hospital room with starry lights and calming music. She was able to advocate for me with the nurses and doctors in moments when I was too overwhelmed to think properly, or if my husband and I needed clarification on certain medical decisions to be made. My exhaustive, strenuous labor lasted over 25hrs, all to end in a C-section... it was nothing short of frustrating and disappointing for me. Feelings of defeat and failure quickly started creeping in before heading into the operating room. Those emotions would have easily taken over, but Karri was right there holding my hand, stroking my hair, and reminding me that I was strong, that I did everything in my power for my baby to arrive safely, and that the most important thing was that she arrive healthy - no matter the means. Her soothing calm was exactly what I needed in my heightened mental state. Baby girl DID arrive safe and healthy, and she is the most precious little thing. My husband and I are forever grateful to have had Karri by our side during the best and most memorable moment of our lives!

Earlier this week, I felt sick and was actually unable to drive more than a few miles or go to work because I hurt my body by not drinking enough water and just wearing myself out! I literally didn't take the girls to school Wednesday because I felt too sick to make the trip! So, as stupid as it seems, I made an appointment at this place near my house to get IV hydration today. I'm so excited to tell you about this, and I hope you don't think I'm being crazy right now! There is a lady, who is a nurse practitioner at women's center at Hughley hospital, 12 years at MCA before that. During Covid, she realized how many people were actually getting sick and not able to recover because they weren't getting enough nutrients or enough hydration or enough of what they need from their food and drink intake. She opened this place, complete health at Green Oaks, one year ago! You just come in, take your vitals, and then you sit in one of those really fancy massage chairs like they used to have at the Brookstone store at the mall. Do you watch TV for 15 to 30 minutes while you get an IV and then you leave. All of the IVs are a bag of Celine, and then you can choose what you add into it. There's one for energy, there's one for vitality, there's one for hydration, there's one for mood elevation... I think she has 10 or 12 different ones available. So you get a massage, you get to relax and watch TV, you get hydrated, and you leave feeling so much better! This is better than getting a pedicure, I feel like it's better for my body than getting an actual massage, just incredible! She does take Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance, but they only pay for certain things. If you're paying out-of-pocket, it's $150-$200, depending on what you're getting. You can come just one time and give it a try and never go back, or you can do it once a month if you're trying to achieve some kind of a goal, like weight loss or if you are trying to increase your vitamin B12 to help with depression or anxiety (I'm planning to do that!) Please know that she did not ask me to do this, I do not stand to gain from this financially, and I really just thought it was so incredible. I want to tell people about this because I want to see people feel better and I want for all of us to take better care of our bodies to prevent getting sick instead of treating sicknesses that happen because we don't take care of ourselves! Really, whether you go in just for the heck of it now, or if you remember this the next time you start feeling sick or rundown, or if you remember to tell someone else about it when they tell you that they are having a hard time recovering from a sickness, please remember this! It is such a great business model, and I want to see this woman succeed!
