I moved to Vienna, Virginia from Chicago and began to search for my new stylist. After trying several places up and down Maple Avenue/Chain Bridge Road, I was frustrated to say the least. I called Bellini Salon and Spa and asked for their stylist who gives the best edgiest, wash and wear cuts and without hesitation had an appointment with David McCarthy. He's been doing my color and cut for a while now (I think it is close to 2 years now) and putting up with my moods (highlights, no highlights, short, longer, etc.). I don't know how he does it, but I always get home and "play" with my new haircut. I can blow dry it just using my fingers and get 3 different looks depending on my mood. He's a wizard with the scissors! I go to the salon because of David but I also appreciate the relaxed and friendly atmosphere at the salon. Once you go a few times, it's like walking into a place where "everybody knows your name" thanks to a extra special lady in the shampoo department. I love you, Nile! read more

I just moved to the area and was looking for a salon. I found this salon on the Living Social deal and bought it. It was an amazing deal for highlights, deep conditioning, cut, and style. I made an appointment and was booked with David. I am so glad that I decided to buy the deal. First of all, the salon is very nice and elegant. The employees are super friendly, especially the shampoo'r, Nile...she is so sweet. David is positively an artist and gave me the most subtle highlights/lowlights and a beautiful cut. After a year of asking Judy to help me get my natural hair color back (get rid of all the blond) I go in for a trim and a "LOW LIGHTs" - brown coloring added to my hair. I had a night time appointment so couldn't really tell the end color. The next morning I awake to BLOND streaks all throughout my hair - this after a YEAR of growing it out and getting the blond out. I really do not trust getting my hair cut by other people. Seriously, since 2008, I haven't had my hair cut by anyone except David, because he knows what he's doing. I have been to places that are like "Oh you're going to look great with this," and then afterwards I just want to shave my head because I look like an 80s hair metal wannabe...David not only gives me what I want but what works for me too. He takes into account lifestyle, structure, and the time you want to spend each morning styling it. I don't have too much time or patience styling my hair so he makes it work so that I don't HAVE to, but could if I wanted to. Either way, it looks great. He's very sweet and very skilled. So...fellow Yelpers...I'm going to share a big secret with you today. I'm not sure if the loyal followers of Pilar would approve but it's always better to share than to keep it to yourself anyway...SO, here it is. The queen of organic facials, Pilar Divittorio, is now working for Bellini Spa in Vienna. Some of you may know that she used to own her own spa, Studio Organics which was featured in Allure megazine several times. Well, I'm happy to say that she's back now working for Dr. Gerrish @ the Bellini Salon and Spa. Actually, it's more like I can't contain my excitement. I have been trying for the last year to find a replacement for Pilar including alot of high end and organic spas. Unfortunately, it was alot of $ down the toilet as there is no way non of these estheticians could compete with the services provided by Pilar. What makes her stand out is the the fact that she gives you a facial that is personalized. No one gets the same facial from Pilar because it's based on the condition of your skin. It's amazing the level of detail she remembers about your skin and I love this personal attention I get from her. On top of it all, she only uses organic products!! how fantastic is that. I have very sensitive skin and have had irritations occur with any other facials. With Pilar, I have complete trust that she will only use products that are compatible with my skin type. Lastly, her dedication and expertise truely impresses me. Somebody who actually knows what they are doing and plus really passionate about making your skin look beautiful??? You can't go wrong with that. oh and I also want to add that she really works hard for the entire duration of the facial. I've had many other facials where the esthetician leaves you with a mask and comes back after 20 mintues and calls it a day.... Trust me, this will NOT be the experience you will have with Pilar. I won't go in to too much details but once you've had one facial with Pilar, you will know what I'm talking about. I have been shopping for a new salon for a while and I saw a living social deal for this place and snapped it up. I arrived for my appointment and was greeted by a friendly receptionist.The decor is nice and I like the loft feeling of the stylists room. The place was packed at noon on a Thursday. David McCarthy was my stylist and he listened to me and what I wanted and was kind and patient. He did an awesome job! The highlights were exactly what I wanted and look excellent. He took his time with the cut and styling and did a really good job. There was pleasant, light conversation but he also let me read my book- which I greatly appreciate. Binita did my shampoo and conditioning treatment and was thorough- good scalp massage. All in all, I can't believe the services I had done only cost me $85 with the livingsocial deal. I will happily pay the regular price and am thrilled to have a new salon that I can go to regularly. read more

I love this place! The staff is very friendly and the entire spa has a very warm atmosphere. I have had Microdermabrasion done by Marie for the past 4 weeks and she does an excellent job. I have very bad acne scarring and I already notice a drastic difference. I had my hair highlighted last week by Kathy Gray and was blown away by how naturally she was able to add blonde to my caramel auburn hair! I was particularly concerned with how the highlights would look 3 months, 6 months and a year from now since I am not certain I'll continue to highlight my hair and am a professional that needs to look conservative when I work with clients. Kathy expertly used a technique I had never heard of before (even though I read TONS of fashion and beauty magazines) proving her knowledge in the industry. I had the MiraDry procedure done with Dr. Gerrish and Loretta and I could not be more impressed! They were both incredibly attentive and caring for my needs, and were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about all aspects of what they were doing. I had shopped around extensively across the DMV area, and Dr. Gerrish stood out as the top choice for the options--he and his staff certainly did not disappoint! They performed the MiraDry procedure (and it works quite well, I'm at 6 weeks after!) and did an excellent job, and it's clear they take great pride and care with everything they do. Would highly recommend the procedure and location for anyone (especially if you're unsure--they're incredibly friendly too!). read more

This is a review on the Keratin treatment they offer at Bellini. it may work on some hair types but after I saw the results I think perhaps my hair type was not right for this treatment and I wish they would have consulted me about this. i have fine hair and the treatment seems to have had a greater impact than i was initially told. It was supposed to be an intense conditioning treatment and I was told it would not affect my volume. My hair is flat as a pancake now. I just don't think that treatment was right for me. Also my regular stylist thinks the stylist at Bellini coated my hair with too much of the Keratin and my hair is heavy with product now. If you have very thick unrly hair this treatment might be great but if you have fine hair, think twice. read more

- What I had done: Cut & style - Background: 1st-time customer, long length, Asian hair - Service & Charm: David was very professional & thorough. He started out by taking the time to ask me what my haircare routine was (how often I wash it and with what), how much heat I regularly apply to my hair, what my daily getting-ready routine is, etc. I even listed a couple of characteristics of haircuts I previously had that didn't turn out as flattering and he knew exactly what I meant. Anyhow, I'm not necessarily the best with describing what I want but he listened well and summarized what I was saying to make sure we were on the same page. He also answered a couple of haircare-related questions I've had for a while (is moroccan oil good for my hair?) and gave very helpful haircare tips. - Satisfied with Haircut: Yup! Watching him cut my hair was like watching an artist "do his thing." The haircut turned out really nicely and looked like it suited my face shape (which is pretty round). I think it looked better than I had expected a haircut (in general) to look on me. Had to find a new stylist in the area as my person I had been using for 20 years decided to pull back on her schedule. Hated to leave her but finding time in our mutual schedules was difficult. Saw a friend posted a selfie after a cut with Caitie Morgan at Bellini and thought maybe this would be a good place to start. Now the person that cut my hair all those years would never let me pay her, EVER so she lulled me into la-la hair style land! Prices have gone up 'a bit', but what I can say is that Caitie is worth the price (Nile the shampoo lady was also phenomenal!) Not only did I get a great cut and style, they both educated me on techniques for shampooing/moisturizing my hair and sent me away with some samples of product they had used on me. Who knew it was OK to only shampoo twice per week! It's actually advocated to do so!! Caitie is young so I was a little intimidated at first, but she put me at ease and made me feel very comfortable with her. I was thankful for that. But remember if you go, bring cash for tips as you can not add it to your credit card bill. read more

I always want a very natural look, not streaky or trendy looking; at other salons, I would say that, but then I'd get home and feel like they hadn't even listened to me. I'm new to the area and called to get prices on the clear and brilliant. First of all when the receptionist answered the phone I was immediately put on hold without even being acknowledged. Then when she finally returned to the line I was informed that she was ONLY a receptionist and had no information on that service and all she could do was take my name and number and have the Drs. medical assistant call me back. HORRIBLE SERVICE!! I also had the living social deal. Called to make an appr with Chris because of reviews from this site. I was told she was available, then they changed the time, them says she wasn't available, took about ten minutes yo even make the Appt I should have known. I live I. Woodbridge so I drove 45 minutes, then waited FOR EXACTLY ONE HOUR for Cindy to show up. My appr was at 10 I got there at 0945 and she strolled in at 1046, SERIOUSLY?? I was purring the baby in the car seat to leave when she strolled in. "oh, I thought it was at 1030 sorry" is what I got. Ok? Youre STILL late. Highlights looked horrible and she left my hair frizzy. WORST SALON VISIT EVER!! on a brighter note, I met Chris she's really nice held my baby while I was getting my hair washed. DO NOT go here, its WAY overpriced!! I am writing this review entirely about David McCarthy. I HIGHLY recommend seeing him for all of your hair needs:) I have had long hair all my life (and plan to grow it out again eventually). But for now I was in desperate need of getting my hair back in to the healthy, silky, bouncy, full of life shape it was in over 10 years ago before i started really damaging it with all kinds of heat/bleach/color and products. My natural (virgin hair) portion had grown out to about my shoulders and i was finally (after much nervousness and procrastination) prepared to chop off that extra 8-9 inches below the shoulders that was completely broken, dry and brittle, and the victim of bleach. Seeing as i hadn't actually CUT my hair in 10 years despite all the other things I did to it, it was a big deal for me to make the commitment to drastically shorter hair than what i've been used to for years. I asked him for a long bob (still retaining the thickness at the ends). He knew exactly what to do and was completely confident in knowing how to get my hair from A to B. Especially impressive is the attention to detail, perfection, and time he took to really complete the look and polish it, not rushing and doing everything right. This is very hard to find in a stylist, and one of the reasons I simply never trusted getting my haircut by other people for so long, because it was hard to know what would come of it. After my experience with David I recommend him to everyone because he not only has the technical skills, but he also has the much needed artistic eye to really intuit how the hair is going to fall in place when you move, how it will frame your face, etc. It is all these details that really make a difference. He is a true artist!! He is also incredible calm, patient and easy going:) I am very grateful for what he was able to accomplish with my hair, especially seeing as I am a bit of a perfectionist about my hair to begin with, and the result was flawless! He took dry, brittle, broken hair, and with some magic cut, shaped, and conditioned it in to a shiny, bouncy, healthy miracle:) Thank you David!!!
