Bellhop showed up late with a truck that had a hole in the roof and a crew that couldn't complete the job. Complained about the stairs and things being heavy while talking negatively explicitly about their earlier job that left them exhausted and two hours late to ours. If they had said they were unable to do the move as contracted we would have just rescheduled but what should've been a full service move turned into a 7+ hour mess. I've contacted support and legal multiple times with no real response after they charged me double the quoted rate. We were forced to move because of the tornado and already didn't have much fundraised for this move then to go from $800 to $1600 because of your workers having a bad morning is just insane! I strongly advise against using Bellhop Moving. Initially, the booking agent seemed friendly and accommodating, but the experience quickly turned sour. They subcontracted the job to another company without transparency, resulting in communication issues and unexpected fees. Changing the move window by a mere two hours became an ordeal, with delayed responses and unexplained rate changes. Despite my efforts to resolve issues with their operations team, I was met with indifference and lack of follow-up. If I could give zero stars I would. They showed up to pack with no material and thinking that they were supposed to be moving us that day. They packed haphazardly with no paper or protection for our stuff. No boxes were labeled so when we ended up at the destination, we had to pick random rooms for boxes to go into because we had no idea what was in them. On the day of moving, they tried to finish the packing that they didn't finish the day before and load the truck. They left furniture, art, miscellaneous items all throughout the house and it looks like a tornado went through. We have to hire movers again to get everything that they left. They have terrible customer service when you call the number for urgent care for day of moving problems. they don't call you back and their average customer service time says they'll call back within 48 hours and they definitely mean 48 hours they increase the cost of the move without any notification just sent a new contract And when we couldn't get a hold of anybody that morning we had to make a decision to either pay it and actually get moved or not and send the crew away. Looking back at it and the horrific experience that we had that day we should've just said no thank you for not paying the additional money. Had a really rough experience with bellhop and they ended up not showing up to help us unload on the scheduled time we needed them to come. We ended up having to sleep on the floor of our first apartment. They came the next morning with not much notice. BUT... That one night of inconvenience led to great customer service help later and they had taken care of most of what we would've owed. They do bait and switch. Agreed to 4 guys and truck driver so total of 5 ppl. What showed up was 2 guys in truck only, 3 hrs late, and the company insisted we pay for 2 guys and a driver. Their math doesn't add up. And state of Missouri had them give back money because we don't like our senior citizens lied to. Not the only bad review you've had like this. If I could, I'd purchase a highway billboard for the sole purpose of telling people not to use this company. I hired Bellhop for a small move 5 minutes from my current home. I love the UI experience and was so impressed with the modern scheduling (so many moving companies are old school). I scheduled about a month in advance of my move. Less than 24 hours before my move, Bellhop called me and left a voicemail. They then sent me an email saying that they couldn't assemble a team for my move and asked if I'd be okay rescheduling my move for 10 days later. They told me on a Sunday (everything is closed), so I had to call 30+ companies and pay extra to find a company who would move me on such short notice. While the customer service team did seem sorry, they did not seem to understand how difficult it is to reschedule a move 24 hrs before it happens. Moving is literally always time-sensitive. They did not seem to be trained in how to deescalate angry customers. They apologized, but offered nothing to make it right. I even said "please give me a reason to not leave a bad review, because I hate doing this and want to be able to recommend you" and they said "well, you do what you have to do." and offered to refund me, but that was it. I have moved several times with "old school" companies, and never have had someone cancel less than 24 hrs before my move. This company made me angry cry (not pretty), pay extra, and did not do anything to make it better. Using Bellhop will make your move even more stressful than it already is. read more

From the start of my move I felt confident that Bellhops was the best choice. For a 2 bedroom apartment, I was provided 3 movers+ 1 driver with a 26ft truck, and they estimated 4 hours for my move. The rate definitely could not be beat, and they had customer service ready to answer any of my questions before the date. My move took well over the 4 hours quoted, and I only lost one mover along the way (prior engagements). I was only charged for the help that I was provided, so no hidden fees there. Everyone I worked with was professional and friendly and that was a big deal considering the amount of work they had to put in and the time they had spent taking great care of our belongings. Andre J. and Marious R. were extremely helpful with some of the more complicated disassembling and rebuilding of my Ikea furniture and kept the moral up for the group the entire time. No frowns all day! Elizabeth R. made sure I was satisfied with the move and was very thorough with her work. I will definitely be recommending Bellhops for help with moves. bellhop damaged over 10,000 worth of my furniture from nee stainless steel appliances to new front load washer dryers mirrors tv and to date want to offer me well initially it was 325.00, than it went to 700.00 absolutely not !!! I have video of the movers damaging my items video. I'm going to court. in my contract they pay for accidents this was on purpose the video pictures will show it all. ZERO STARS- this place is ridiculous. Made a reservation for two people for three hours. It was a Tuesday afternoon 2-2:30 arrival. No one showed up. I called the number and it led to a 1-888 number for Bellhop. I waited on hold and while I was on hold someone from Bellhop called me. He said " we are having a lot of problems today" and " we only have one guy to send out and since we don't have a full team we need to postpone your move. What??!?! These people are in the moving business, they know that you have your house packed, uhaul rent and services being transferred over and he says postpone. THREE WEEKS OUT. I was floored! Uh NO! We had a relatively easy move but they scratched our furniture, walls and broke a huge branch with their truck.

DO NOT RECOMMEND. My experience with Bellhops was horrific. They damaged the headboard of my bed when trying to assemble it. My bed is now unusable. This was an extremely expensive piece of furniture--the repairs due to the damage they caused is going to cost me $500-800 and to replace the headboard, it will be close to $4000 (this bed was imported from Europe). Bellhops wants to give me $66 for reimbursement, which is just a drop in the bucket. Absolutely NOT OK. On top of that, 2 of the 3 crew members showed up a half hour late for the move. The team lead showed up on time and said he was going to give his team "bad reviews" after a half hour passed. So the first half hour was one guy trying to move things by himself--not efficient at all. Bellhops charged me 100% for the move, and then the next day, I got another charge on my credit card for $23. Apparently the help has a little SCAM where they clock in 1 minute before or after a 15 minute increment in order to collect another 15 minute of pay....watch out out for that! I indicated my move required furniture assembly, and even confirmed with the team lead the day before. He brings 1 screwdriver between the three of them. I could have hired help off of CraigsList who could move the heavy things. Yet I paid $149/hour by using this company thinking these would be trained professionals. The labor is made up of independent contractors who work for Bellhops, so there is little quality control. The labor was incompetent when attempting to assemble furniture, which led to damage that is going to double my moving costs, at a minimum. Customer support is not helping and refuses to reimburse me for any of the move as I must not have read their "fine print". This company is a joke. If you just need strong guys to help you move, you are better off finding people on Craigslist. read more

We hired Bellhop moving for a long-distance move, packing up a storage unit in St. Louis and moving it a couple hours away. The package included 2 movers in St. Louis, plus the driver and travel to the final destination (where we had other movers hired to unload). The packing job was anticipated to be a 2-hour thing, and we'd be on the road by 10:30. Our start time was 8-8:30, and our first mover + driver showed up around 8:15. No other mover ever showed up. The one mover, understandably, didn't want to get started until there was confirmation that a second mover was on the way. Multiple calls to headquarters failed to get anyone else on the scene, and eventually, the mover started the job. The mover did an admirable job, but it was very slow going with just one mover. (One item of furniture did break, which might not have happened had he been better supported. It was more of sentimental than real value, so not a big deal.) Both my husband and I ended up doing a lot of the moving, because we couldn't afford further delays. Even the driver pitched in (which I am sure was not part of his contract). To be clear, loading stuff ourselves is specifically what we hired movers to AVOID. (Luckily, we were available and could physically do the labor, but I imagine many others in a similar position might not be.) The whole process ended up taking about double the length, meaning we arrived at the destination about two hours late (very gross and sweaty, too!). Luckily, the movers on the other end were willing to reschedule, but we were pretty anxious about whether we would end up needing to unload the truck ourselves or shell out extra money for the movers. Since we only had a 3-hour window to unload the truck on the other end, it was imperative we have everything timed carefully. Given the delays, the missing mover, and all the labor we put into the move, we have been trying to secure a discount, since Bellhop failed to deliver the services we paid for. Multiple calls, emails, and complaints online have yielded no results (we have, however, been contacted multiple times to offer reviews!). It's been over two weeks. Each time we speak with someone, we are told this is handled by a special long-distance department, and they'll be back in touch with us. I understand that things can happen, but the inability to address their own shortcomings is why I would not recommend Bellhop for long-distance moves. They should work constantly...not stand around, watch others work, gaze out the window etc. All movers should stay for the duration of the move, not leave early because they have other things to do! Had a great move. Our bellhops made everything go smoothly. They worked hard to keep us within the time frame that we paid for/were quoted and were so friendly. Shoutout to Jalyn, Jamol, Taj, and Andrew for making our moving experience awesome!!! Only complaint is that when I originally received quote they were only going to send two bellhops for four hours. I told them that was definitely not going to be enough people for how much stuff we had. They changed it to four bellhops for three hours which was better but we still went over on our quoted time. Once you go over on your reserved time slot you start getting charged at a higher hourly rate. If I had gone with the original quote, we would have gone WAY over on time. Chris and team were amazing!!! They were all polite, professional and took great care moving things into my new home. I had lots of stairs going out if the old place and they took them in stride. I just spent a pretty penny refinishing the hardwoods in my new and they took my concerns seriously, and took special care to not damage the new finish. Any problem that came up during the move with getting things through tight spaces or into door was handled with no stress to me. This was the best experience with movers I have ever had. Absolutely horrible experience! I was very excited after finding Bellhop and scheduling the move was so easy and seemed so organized. They were to arrive at 8 am Friday. I received a call at 8 informing me that the truck wasn't working and they needed to reschedule. Bellhop did find a solution and a crew showed up at 12 with a rented uhaul. I had paid for 7 hours - 2 trips and after the crew did very very slow work with a lot of sitting on the truck they informed me that they would not be able to make a second trip. Bellhop again found a solution.... the soonest another crew could come was Sunday at 2-2:30 - 2 days later. I extended my contract (occupancy) to Sunday at 10pm. Fortunately the buyers did not have such a strict timeline. At 2:45 on Sunday I called bellhop and was on hold for 20 minutes before speaking with an agent and I was told they would find out where they were. By 4 I heard nothing and called again followed by another 20 min hold. And after another 30 minutes on the phone I was told they cancelled! Just cancelled. The movers were supposed to arrive at 2 and didn't show so bellhop cancelled the whole thing. Now I am scrambling to find a mover Sunday night! And I know I will pay a whole lot more for an emergency move. read more

My movers were hard-working but were largely unprofessional and unfriendly, and the experience was stressful. There was no communication between the movers at the two ends of my long-distance move. The movers that helped me move out of my apartment took apart my bed. It took them awhile to found the right tools but they eventually did it. Even though I had given Bellhops a description of my bed ahead of time, Bellhops didn't give me any information about assembly/disassembly policies, and during the move, I was made to think that my movers were doing me an extra favor for taking apart the bed. When I asked these movers whether the movers on the other end would be able to put it back together, they said "we can 100% guarantee that they'll be able to put it back together." When I got to my destination, the next set of movers told me they weren't sure they'd be able to put it back together and that it wasn't part of their job description to carry tools. At this point, it was about 10pm after I had spent all day driving, and the movers had been there for 3 hours, so stress levels were obviously high. I considered asking the movers to go home and hiring a professional to put my bed back together, but they did eventually figure it out, not without damaging some of the slats. At one point, at my destination, one of the movers was moving in a large furniture item and asked me to help him with it, which involved me having to bear the weight it while he tilted it back towards me, and I had to try to stop him from knocking it into the wall. This was not fun. On top of all of this, there were a bunch of small slip-ups in communication throughout the process: Bellhops got my phone number and email address wrong on multiple occasions. I got an email on the morning of my move saying my movers couldn't get ahold of me by phone, and it turns out they had the wrong phone number, even though I had called Bellhops with questions multiple times before my move. Little things like this normally wouldn't be a big deal, but they really added up in this case. When you're getting ready for a long-distance move, you want everything to go smoothly, you want to know that your movers know what they're doing and that they care about getting you and your belongings to your destination, and you want them to be professional. All of these things went wrong with Bellhops, which was quite surprising, because I had picked them based on their positive reviews on Yelp. I think they just started doing long-distance moves, and they clearly have some things to work out. There was some minor damage to my furniture and the walls at my new apartment, but the claims submission process through Bellhops was painless and straightforward. read more

Terrible experience with Bellhop. We were scheduled to move on Monday at 2pm. The driver showed up for the move but there was not a team to do the moving. Almost 45 minutes later, the driver received a call that our move had been cancelled because they were unable to get a team for the move. NO one from Bellhop every contacted us. After 3 more calls during the evening, we reached someone to reschedule the move for today. At 12pm we received a call that once again our move had been cancelled. We had a move scheduled 2 weeks in advance for 9 am on a Friday and we received a nondescript email on 3 pm on Thursday before the move indicating that they would not be able to complete the move. They provided very little help initially but then after two calls to them and multiple to the person we were picking up from, we were luckily able to schedule it for that afternoon at 5 pm. Lead mover texted me the night before the scheduled move saying a 3rd person would not be showing up. Of the 2 guys that showed up, one complained most of the time and neither wore a mask, (and yes it was very hot out!), but really didn't put much effort into helping the lead mover. They also wanted to cut our move short by 1.5 hours because it was Father's Day. We ended up unloading the pods ourself and at least setting some stuff out for them to move inside. All in all, the lead mover Josh was pretty good but the other helper not so much. Can't say I'd recommended nor ever use them again read more

Fantastic moving experience from bellhops. Everyone was courteous from the people on the phone to the movers to the driver. Jamol called an hour early and was very friendly and professional. Jamol, Armand and Lindell worked extremely quickly but carefully. They wrapped my furniture to keep it safe and none of my furniture was damaged in the move. Rich the driver got to my location very quickly and went above and beyond to move the furniture off the truck. Overall, they finished an hour early and helped save me money off of already reasonable prices. I do not have enough good things to say about Jamol, Armand, Lindell and Rich. These guys were awesome. I had a terrible experience with Dolly in Chicago. I was mentally prepared for something awful. However when I was moving into St.Louis Dudes did my whole truck in like 40 min. They worked solid- quickly and without banging into things. They kept calling me "sir" and seemed to mean it, even though I was only like 5 years older than there were. I never considered that they might intentionally break my stuff unlike Dolly in Chicago. Two guys came out today to move our stuff from garage to second floor and truly having pulled my back last week, they were life savers. I was worried about them moving slowly up and down two stories and taking longer than an hour, but they finished moving all the stuff in 45 mins.
